  1. I must travel there for work frequently. You can carry in your vehicle and you can keep your firearm in your hotel room. You can not be loaded while transporting from car to hotel room. @2.ooohhh Didn't know about the laser thing, thanks for the heads up, as my newest carry piece came with Crimson Trace grips I suppose now I know I need to leave it at home on the next trip.

    AR Pistols?

I have plans for one in the immediate future. Everyone wants $500+ for them on the used market. PSA had pistol kits for $269. Add magazine, stripped lower, and an optic and you're good to go. Yeah, it's not a to of the line gun, but it more than likely going to be used as a range toy anyway, plus I've had zero issues out of my PSA AR.
  3. I try to keep my shotgun with me whenever possible during the fall season. I looked at the regs earlier and it looks like only one bearded bird is allowed per county for the fall season. Up until a couple years ago it was 6 either sex, then it went to 1 either sex, and now only bearded.
  4. I understand. I rarely just shoot to be shooting, which is a shame because all I need to do is step onto my porch and let er rip. I got the guns that I needed a long time ago. Anything new at this point is a novelty, which usually wears off quickly.
  5. Not on your list but meets the requirements, Kimber Micro9. I just picked one up because I got a really good deal on it. I am in love with it. In a iwb it conceals very well and I have a problem concealing just about anything.
  6. That is highway robbery. You could have bought new carbs for that.
  7. Too many police officers can't keep things straight when it comes to basic laws. Although there is nothing illegal about what you want to do, how many thousands of dollars are you prepared to spend too keep your good name in the event you run into a cop that is confused on the law? More trouble than it's worth imo.
  8. The guy may have been a bit nutty. However, he did get a lot of conversation going, we needed that.
  9. Hate too hear they didn't do you right. I always had a difficult time finding reputable bike shops, especially in the middle part of the state.
  10. NEF 20ga single, I believe I was 11. I graduated to a 12ga 870 about a year later. Still have both, and the 870 is my go to shotgun. The NEF is nearly in mint condition. Has one tiny nick at the end of the barrel where I bumped it into the patio cleaning it the day that I got it. It will always have a place in my safe, but I've used it so little it just doesn't hold a ton of sentimental value because not many memories are associated with it.
  11. There are a couple of AR variants that I've been eyeing for a long time. Back around 2010 I paid $270 otd for two Mosins and a spam can. Probably have fired less than 100 rounds of that. Looks like it may be time to do a MN to AR conversion. The Mosins were fun when they were dirt cheap, but they are a novelty, and for what they are bringing today there are so many better guns for the money.
  12. Can't advise you on the gun, but if you get in trouble after bringing it home. Calmly place a towel over the mad person's shoulders and say "well now you're super mad!" Report back on how it works out.
  13. Yep. A man with a nice piece of land has a tendency to have children who want nothing to do with it. I'm fortunate enough to live on such a piece of land. The thought of living in a subdivision terrifies me and gives me anxiety. I like my "safe space" out here in the woods. I don't understand the though process of selling a farm to go live trailer park close to a bunch of other people. Subdivisions have literally become trailer park living for rich people. One of my neighbors owns 400+ acres, his kids want nothing to do with it. He's elderly, when he dies it will be subdivided, 720 houses across the street from me. I hate it, but I can't buy it all up. A strong economy will cause the demise of the Tennessee country side.
  14. I lived in a house in a very rural area about 30 minutes outside Maryville, yeah not close to anything. All of my neighbors except for one would shoot in their yards and didn't care when I shot in mine, but there is always that one. This one neighbor, who lived a half a mile away, would call the law everytime myself, or anyone else started shooting. I could sense the deputies frustration. They were always very friendly, would explain the shooting got called in so they were checking it out. Told me I wasn't doing anything wrong and to carry on. Usually talked a little gun talk as well. Point being, unless you buy 1000 acres you may make someone mad. On the other hand, my mother in law lived in a subdivision outside of Knoxville, everyone on her culdesac would shoot into the side of the hill behind there houses. These were maybe 1/2 acre lots. Safe, but tons of houses around. Never seen anything else like it, everyone just got along.
  15. Off topic but you're right, starter homes are no longer being built. The days of a 3 bed 2 bath, 2 car garage on an acre are gone. Instead we everything is 4k sq ft or bigger and start $400k+ in this area. It takes both spouses working high paying jobs to afford that.
  16. We don't need a soccer team. We don't need a football team. Nashville started to go downhill when we got the Titans. I'm not against a soccer team, but I'm against tax money being used too get and maintain a soccer team, period. And I'm sure that's exactly what will happen.
  17. They should have had one of those "Coexist" stickers on their bikes.
  18. I bought a bottom of the line trail cam a couple of years ago for $40, a lot of retailers seem to have sales on them this time of year. It works fine, even in the dark.
  19. Seems they are all geared to the weekend warrior who has an unlimited cash flow. I grew up with Southern Outdoors and read every issue cover to cover from the time I was about 8 until it went out of publication. I subscribed to Field and Stream for a while, and I did enjoy Outdoor Life but haven't read one in years. The last several times I've picked up an outdoor mag it seems to be all about guns and gear that aren't in my budget, and junk that I don't need, headlined with articles such as "What you need to know to bag the big buck" which seldom has information that I don't already know. The final straw for Field and Stream for me was when they did the "Perfect truck gun" article, can't remember what it was, but the price tag was well North of a grand. There is a segment of working class people who want to see reviews on affordable gear, butchering techniques, recipes, and a good story every now and then. Write a magazine for us and we'll buy it.
  20. Is Charlie still running the place? I spent a lot of time there in college. Charlie was always really helpful and taught me a lot, only person I've ever seen fall asleep on a live range though.
  21. My apologies, it's a Walmart contract gun purchased at Walmart. Maybe that's the case with these Savages, maybe it isn't. Just trying to keep someone else from having a bad experience.
  22. It's a Hatfield single shot. My understanding is that Walmart contacts these guns out. They are super poor quality. When the consumer has a problem they can return the fun to the store and the manufacturer will refuse to help, so you are stuck with a junk gun. If be very wary.
  23. No more Walmart guns for me. A kid I take hunting got a Walmart shotgun, it's aweful. I had to mess with the trigger to get it to where a 10 Year old could even pull it. The door and finish are terrible as well.
  24. You will be very hard pressed to trap them. Snares and let holds are the best methods for trapping if you do go that route. I don't like snares, they kill indiscriminately. A cushioned leg hold is an option, they too don't discriminate, but at least they don't kill.
  25. I've bought a lot more guns than I've sold. I've been in a couple of sketchy situations buying, but I've never been in one selling. I sold one on here and that went smooth as could be. I've have met several TGO folks though, and there isn't a single one that I have met that I wouldn't invite into my home without thinking twice. TGO is as safe a bet as you can make when it comes to safe selling.
