  1. Sounds like a good reason to shop the black market, if you are so inclined.
  2. I researched solar power a couple of years ago with I was trying to set up a stock tank heater for my neighbor. Didn't go through with it because the number of solar panels needed made the project not feasible. I don't have experience with 12v pond pumps, but I do maintain a 250ish gallon bait tank with shad in it so when it's time to fish I don't have to go looking for bait. The pump in it pumps around 1000 gal per hour. I can tell you that you should do some research and figure out how much water you should be moving for a pond your size and go from there. When you find the pump that you need figure out how much energy it's going to draw then you can figure out how many solar panels will be needed to keep the battery topped off. We use a solar panel to keep the battery on our electric gate charged. It just does okay.
  3. It's been sometime since I handled it, but a friend owns a 1911 scandium Smith & Wesson. I don't recall it's weight, but I remember that it was significantly lighter than a steel framed gun.
  4. I'm known locally as the guy that will hold you at gun point until the cops get here and won't let you smoke a cigarette. The pillbillies shop elsewhere now.
  5. 10 years ago. I wanted a Mosin Nagant. Had a buddy who had his FFL and would get me whatever I wanted at his cost. I call him up and he says that his cost is $70. I'm thinking that's really cheap, so I ask him, as he is my go to gun guy, if maybe I shouldn't just buy a crate of them and stash them away. He tells me not to waste my time because there are more Mosin Nagants out there than people could ever want and they will never be worth anything. I wound up with two of them, because a buddy wanted one, but failed to get spousal permission before ordering. I paid $270 for two rifles 440 rounds of ammo, and the background check. Sold one of the rifles about a year ago for $325. Really wish that I had bought the crate. Honestly, I don't see the appeal of a $300 Mosin Nagant. There are so many good rifles on the market in that price range that the Mosin has lost its appeal to me. If they were $70 today I would have one stashed in every hiddy hole that I could think of.
  6. I got rid of Dish Network about 10 years ago. I called to cancel, as I was moving. The rep in the phone told me that I would have to climb up on the roof and remove the dish and send it back to them. I told them that I wasn't physically able to do that. (Kind of a lie, I didn't have a way to get on the roof though) I thought that was absurd though.
  7. I've stepped in gradually, starting with an amount of money that isn't going to be life altering if I lose it. I spend quite a bit of time studying. I find it enjoyable to do homework, develop a theory as to why a strategy will work, and then seeing it play out. Selling off some stuff Monday that has been pretty stagnant to buy up some stuff that has been seeing good growth over the past week, month, and year. Right now Alibaba, Yeti, Crispr, and possibly Verizon, are stocks that are looking good to me.
  8. I have just recently started buying and selling stocks. Only hobby I've ever had that made money.
  9. I've never hunted AEDC, but I have had some success on public land. Best advice that I can give is to hunt where others aren't willing to go. If it's easy to get to it probably isn't worth hunting.
  10. Supply and demand. A ton more 9mm is produced and it's not readily available, obviously. .380 is produced in limited quantities and the manufacturer charges more for it because they can.
  11. Haven't had cable for 3 years. We work with Verizon unlimited and hotspot off of our phones as needed. Also get about 40 channels of antenna TV. It's worked well for us YMMV. FYI, I have both an aerial antenna and an indoor HD antenna, the indoor one actually pics up more channels.
  12. In the spirit of that: unfortunately I wasn't in the office when this happened but the story was relayed to me by a co-worker. Employee #1 had recently declared that he stopped drinking. He come in one day saying how hung over he is. My buddy says "oh I thought you quit drinking?" To which he replied "I quit drinking liquor, beer ain't drinking." Personal account- I was working as an electrician's assistant for a company years ago. I was pretty new and didn't know everyone yet. I got paired up with a guy to go with on a project for about 3 days. He calls me and asks if I would like to share a room. I wasn't making much and the company allowed us to keep per diem that we didn't spend, so I agree. We get to where we're going, get in the room and are chit chatting and whatnot, like a couple of normal guys might do. Then he pulls out his laptop and asks "you like to look at porn?" I tell him that I don't want to watch porn with him. He proceeded to casually watch porn and smoke cigarettes in the non smoking room the remainder of the evening. I got my own room the next night.
  13. This story has been incredibly difficult to follow due to lots of conflicting info. From what I've pieced together he had another unrelated warrant involving a domestic dispute. Officer who was serving that warrant reported that there was a gunshot and called in the troops. Suspect barricaded himself into the garage. There were no firearms, or "illegal" magazines present. Suspect was eventually arrested and charged with several charges, none of them firearm related. Mass confusion, and in not really sure why this is being called a red flag matter. I watched some of this as it was going down on the suspect's Instagram, and honestly he came across as a bit unstable.
  14. That's my set up. I keep both a .22 and a .223 handy. Squirrels to deer I'm covered with those two rounds.

    PC Advice

I have a Lenovo laptop for work and I like it. Quality seems to be pretty good. We recently bought a Chromebook to share as a family and we really like it. It's the ticket for casual computer use.
  16. The Mexican government should hire him to confiscate guns from the drug cartel.
  17. I've seen snakes every month of the year in Tennessee.
  18. I'm convinced that truckers pick them up dead out west and drop them off here.
  19. You can hunt coyote during deer season with a centerfire, you just have to have a big game license.
  20. You would have thought I'd killed a buck of unheard of proportions when I got that groundhog. I was pretty proud of myself.
  21. I killed one with a Daisy Eagle when I was a kid. It was in our garden and paid me little attention. I shot it between the eyes at about 10 feet. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done.
  22. I had a RIA 1911 in 9mm that wouldn't free anything but FMJs. I suspect that a previous owner did a poor job polishing the fed ramp. RIA was easy to deal with and had a pretty quick turnaround. They didn't tell me what they did but it has worked great since I got it back.
  23. Here are some more recent pics. I'm on the fish, but I want giants. It's been rough catching gizzard shad for bait, so I've been using threadfins, which aren't as big.
  24. I'm reading this thread purely seeking advice. Almost 37, and spent my 20s mostly goofing off. I consider my 20s to be a retirement decade on the front end of my life. Although it will delay my actual retirement, I got to do a lot of cool things that my body won't be able to do when I'm actually retired, and I don't regret it. I have a 401k and plan to get into a mutual fund soon and contribute monthly, just because I can afford too and I honestly won't miss the money. My goal is to retire by 60. I'm honestly not worried about missing work. I don't have enough time to hunt and fish as it is and I enjoy farming. That's more than enough to stay busy.
  25. Gotta say, one of my favorite things about imgur is posting guns, hunting pictures, and fishing pictures. I always get more dislikes than likes, and to know that my picture get under that many people's skin makes me feel warm inside.
