  1. To be clear. DO NOT place the TSA lock on the gun case. You need a regular padlock or combination lock. The TSA lock goes on the luggage that contains the gun case. The idea here is that a baggage handler can't open your suitcase and take your gun box out. Though I would be shocked of it's really hard to get one of those TSA special keys.
  2. I got this one off of Amazon, it was about $6. Honestly, the fishing wasn't anything to write home about, I did all of my fishing in the Everglades. Had a good time, caught some bass that wouldn't have impressed me here, and got to see to see a bunch of alligators. This was my first venture staying in Southeast Florida. Gotta say I don't much care for it. I've been to the Ft. Myers area a couple of times and like it much better.
  3. It went off without a hitch. The agent in Nashville asked me to show her the pistol so that she could verify that it was unloaded. I already had the slide locked back on it so I didn't have to handle it. She complimented me on the pistol (Kimber Micro) and told me to enjoy my trip. The agent that I dealt with on my return flight in Fort Lauderdale wasn't nearly as friendly, but didn't give me a hard time. He told me that it was not necessary to open the box, he just had me sign the form saying that it was unloaded. Other than that, I found it handy to keep my key on a caribener type keychain inside my backpack that I carried on.
  4. I have a hard time with slip on boots fitting my feet. Muck brand of them only brand that I've tried that's tolerable for me. I'm on my 3rd pair in 7 years. But my first pair is still functional. Last pair I bought was from Amazon, played around with the color choices and apparently brown isn't a popular color so I snagged them for $100.
  5. I rode my four wheeler down a portion of Central Pike today. It was a mess.
  6. Just ran to St. Thomas Hospital from Lebanon. Back roads were solid ice. Main roads were ok but not what I would call clear. Interstates were mostly clear. If you choose to get out, just slow it down and you should be fine.
  7. I live right off of Central Pike, just East of 840. Left the house around 5 and ran out to West End, then picked my wife up from Summit Medical Center. Got back home about 7:30, zero problems. Went out to the garage an hour later and almost fell on the driveway, solid sheet of ice.
  8. Germitage isn't the place to be pulling stunts like that, obviously.
  9. This is why I only sell on TGO. I wouldn't hesitate to invite anyone who I've met from TGO into my house.
  10. I've been wanting to start buying some silver on a regular basis. Ideally, I would like to pickup a few ounces per month on a regular basis. It doesn't appear that simple unless you are willing to pay double the spot price.
  11. I have a 91/30 in the classifieds now with ammo and an extra stock.
  12. After looking through my rather vast collection of factory pistol cases, I didn't have anything I liked. This Apache brand Pelican knockoff was $12 and change at Harbor Freight. The 4 piece fishing pole and Pflueger reel were substantially more. They will fit nicely in the suitcase though and in my opinion are well worth the money. These days I seem to be able to make time to fish during lunch breaks and whatnot, and that's about it, so I need to be prepared.
  13. Thanks for the heads up, normally when I'm flying, I don't sweat it, but I'm planning on heading into the Everglades solo to do some fishing, and I don't really care for going into remote areas unarmed.
  14. I had typed out a response on this thread a few days ago, and before hitting that submit button the thought "I don't want to go on record saying that" went through my head, and I hit the back button instead.
  15. I shopped GameStop puts last night. Cheapest one that I could find was over $10k.
  16. Stopped by the Mt. Juliet Academy yesterday. I probably have more ammo in my couch cushions than they have on their shelves, which could still be said even if it was just one loose round.
  17. I am planning to vacation in Southern Florida next week and would like to take a pistola with me, as I'm planning on spending some time solo fishing in the Everglades. I've flown quite a bit, but have never taken a gun with me. In the times that we live in I don't want to make a mistake, so I wanted to review everything befrore hand. IF it matters I will be flying Spirit Airlines. I've reached out to them because I could not find any specific information pertaininhg to checking a firearm on their website. I plan to print out the TSA policy, along with anything Spirit sends me and carrying it with me. From what I understand, I need to pack my pistol in a hard sided box. Would a hard box that pistols typically come packagged in suffice for this (liike a Glock box)? Its my understanding that I must then lock that box with my own lock and the baggage that I pack it in with a TSA lock. As far as ammunition, it is my understanding that It must be in the origional package, but may be packed in the box with the pistol, is that correct? Finally, the obvious, I know that it must be unloaded and I declare it when I check in for my flight. Am I missing anything here? I did do a search but the latest information was 5 years old and I wanted to make sure that I was getting up to date information. Thank you all in advance!
  18. My wife, and most of her co-workers, have gotten it and had no serious issues. Several had slight fevers, headaches, body aches, etc. for a day or so afterwards but we're five within a couple of days. The consensus amongst them is that mild symptoms for a couple of days is better than getting covid. One thing that we noticed talking to others that have been vaccinated is an inconsistency about directions of things to do/not to do before receiving the vaccination. Some people that I know were specifically instructed not to take ibuprofen based pain relievers/fever reducers before, or within a couple of days of receiving the shot. Others were not given that info. The more you know...
  19. I just posted a link to knifekits.com on my wife's Facebook. She says I'm hard to buy for.
  20. If someone else hasn't already done the work it's just not going to be there. That doesn't mean that the information doesn't exist, it just hasn't been entered into the family search database. Example. On my to do list is to find information about a set of GGG grandparents. My GG grandfather immigrated from England to Nashville when he was 15 years old in 1870. He's pretty well documented, but his parents are not. I don't even know their names. I should be able to get information on them by tracking down his immigration paperwork at the Davidson County archives. Here's something that I think is pretty neat. My GG grandfather had a daughter when he was 50 years old who was still alive when I was a little kid. Kind of neat to think about knowing a family member whose father was 130 years older than me.
  21. Yep, still a thing!
  22. Amazon gives users the option to select a charity and they make a donation everytime you purchase something. Years ago, I chose the NRA. Although, I'm not a big fan of what they have been doing (or not doing) for the past few years, I never changed it. So as far as I know everytime I make an Amazon purchase, a bit of that purchase goes to the NRA. Just kind of sticking it to the man I guess.
  23. Man that's cool!
