Do you really want to go down the slippery slope of how much acreage is required to be able to shoot on it? I have a range on 1.5 acres with a solid backstop that is totally safe. I had a friend that had 20 acres that was completely flat and not safe to shoot on. In my opinion the acerage involved is irrelevant. What is relevant is whether or not bullets are leaving the property. It seems that isn't the case here, but we are only hearing one side of the story. Also, my interpretation of what he said was that he was in the county and there were no nose ordinances.

Shy of having a bunch of money there isn't a good option for dove. The problem with public shoots is the public is there and early September is too damn hot to wear a ballistic vest, which is a necessity on a public shoot. I'm blessed to get invites to some private shoots and still typically pay between $100-200 to attend each one. As for quail and pheasant, outside of a private reserve you are going to be sol. Quail are near an endangered species around here. I've probably jumped a half dozen covey in 30+ years of stomping through the woods. Never seen a wild pheasant.

I'd say so, they don't call it the Lord's Caliber for nothing. I own something in every popular handgun caliber (.40 included) and don't hold it against anyone what they choose to carry. I don't care for 40 myself but if others want to carry it that doesn't matter to me. It's just a whole lot of fun to stir the pot from time to time.

And for just $120 dollars you can replace the barrel and shoot a respectable caliber.

I'll echo the others that have mentioned Taurus. I used to be 100% a Taurus hater. I though they have upped their game recently and I would consider them to be one of the best values out their right now. My TX22 is my favorite plinker out of the half dozen or so 22 pistols I own. I much prefer it over a couple of Ruger Mark series pistols I own, and others. I bought a Tracker in 44 mag several months ago and have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. At half the price of a comparable S&W if you are buying it to use there is literally no advantage in buying a Smith. Sure the Smith will retain it's value better, but I bought this one to drag through the woods. Heck, slightly related to this topic, I've made a shift in recent years on considerations for woods guns. What used to be a go to say a Marlin 30-30, is now a high dollar gun that I don't want to beat up.

I find OC to be a slippery slope. I can think of a couple of reasons the right to OC is important 1) in some states simply printing is considered open carrying, and if open carrying isn't legal in that jurisdiction the person can be charged. Legal OC prevents this. 2) in certain circumstances I prefer to OC but I'm not likely to encounter others while doing so, such as hiking and back country camping. So while I believe the right to open carry is important, I don't believe in doing so in public, which is tricky because I also believe that we will lose freedoms we don't exercise. Also, the last thing I want to deal with on a grocery run is some opinionated Karen, that is offended by the presence of my firearm. She will make a scene and I'm not going to educate her, or change her mind. If you are into those kinds of confrontations then open carry may be for you.

Did I understand that as of this year Percy Priest is only archery/black powder?

What did the shooter identify as other than Democrat? Not throwing stones just observing trends.

I love catching gar. They eat pretty good too, but are a PITA to clean.

A couple of things to consider on slugs. Do you want to run a rifled barrel, or do you want to use rifled slugs? Rifled slugs seem to be much more easily obtainable and cheaper. A saboted slug through a rifled barrel will give you capabilities out to 200 yards. A saboted slug in a smoothbore won't get any twist and will be horribly inaccurate. A rifled slug in a rifled barrel will work for a short while but will quickly lead up the rifling and result in inaccuracy. Most slug barrels are rifled, but I absolutely see merit in a shirt smooth barrel with iron sights and/or optics mount. Within distance limitations a slug is very effective on deer.

Bowling pins are my son's favorite thing to shoot. I picked up 50 of them recently. I never imagined how difficult it would be to store 50 bowling pins.

I have one in particular that is troublesome to find the dot. But when they are working correctly I really like them.

My tomatoes are coming in faster than I can handle. I canned 5 quarts on Saturday and 7, almost 8 more today. Something I do that helps... I process my tomatoes, a couple of times a week if necessary, (I did all 7+ quarts today) and put them in the fridge in their canning jars until I have 7 quarts to run the canner. I've put up 21 quarts of tomatoes this month. Starting to wonder how many we really need?

Probably a long shot, but you never know what a TGOer might have lying around. I'm putting together a little boat and I'm going to build a surface drive motor for it. I'm looking for a donor motor in the 20-22HP range. What I would love to find is a junk lawnmower with a good engine. I'm petty much open to any brand other than the lower end Kohlers. I'm in middle Tennessee and get to East Tennessee from time to time. If you have something that may fit the bill shoot me a message.

I do quite a bit of smoking myself. But I smoke butts to temp. Specifically 203 degrees. Sometimes it takes 10 hours, I've had it take as long as 26. I put 2 8 pounders on Monday night and they finished up right at 18 hours. I pretty much always do a pound or two of cream cheese if I start the smoker up, everybody loves it.

I was a Taurus hater for a long time. Taurus has really upped their game in the past couple of years. I own a 15 year old Judge that is a piece of junk. Great for shooting rats at <12 feet. Puts down shotgun sized groups with 45LC at 20 yards. Clunky, bad finish, poor craftsmanship, etc. I picked up a 4" Taurus Tracker in 44mag a few months ago. I really like it. The timing is as it should be, the trigger is crisp, and the fit and finish are very good. And it's plenty accurate. They're right at half the price of a comparable Smith. I am 100% happy with it. Plus, I bought it to pig hunt with. It's going to get used and beat around. With the price that Smith's have gotten to, it kinda hurts when you add a character mark.

Check this out. I hate that they make it difficult to determine whether or not the barrels are threaded. For some reason it seems that CZ isn't big on threaded barrels. I'm keeping my eyes open for a 16" threaded in 22LR myself. They are reasonably priced on the CZ website, but haven't been available in some time. I'm in no hurry. I have a 457 Lux in 22LR, and a Synthetic in 22WMR. would like a 22LR barrel set for the synthetic to use as a suppressor host and to bang around the woods with. The Lux is a fine rifle, but it's a lot to lug around.
