Knoxville Rural King Employee Killed by Shoplifter
10-Ring replied to Garufa's topic in General Chat
I suppose it depends on how you look at it. Lot of facets there. When I left the profession in 2010 the policy had changed from "get then back in the store by any means necessary" to "ask them politely to give back in the store and if they decline, get as much information as possible but let them go". I too would hate to see a society where it's acceptable to just walk out of a store with whatever you want. But our society has become so litigious that retailers have found that it's cheaper to let the merchandise walk. Of course the alternative is to lock up high risk merchandise. I hate going into a retail store more than about anything, but I especially hate the thought of having to track down a key holder to make a purchase. There are no winners here other than the thieves. -
Knoxville Rural King Employee Killed by Shoplifter

I don't know if the store employee was loss prevention or not, doesn't matter. I spent a little better than 5 years working in loss prevention. I must say it's mostly a job for the young and dumb, which was fitting for me at the time. I've had shoplifters threaten to shoot me and I just fought them harder. I was in more physical altercations then I care to count. And for what? A couple of hundred dollars worth of a giant corporation's stuff that they are going to write off if it walks out the door, while I was earning $7-11 an hour. I count my blessings daily that I was never seriously hurt doing that job. I enjoyed the hunt, and the capture immensely back then, but wouldn't do it for any amount of money today. When you do that work you eventually pick up a 6th sense for when someone is going to shoplift. I often get that feeling when I'm out shopping and I'll post up and watch from a distance. I have absolutely no intention of doing a thing, there is just some satisfaction watching my hunch play out. Not my circus, not my monkeys. -
Wife works nights and worked last night and works tonight. She got a hotel room next to her hospital instead of making the drive. I got out this morning and drove from Lebanon to downtown Nashville to pick up a friend that works nightshift. By far the roads are worse than I've ever seen in Middle Tennessee. Couple of pictures from that adventure.

Necessary steps when selling a firearm
10-Ring replied to MisterDanP's topic in Feedback and Support
I require a BOS as a seller if I purchased the firearm from an FFL and filled out a 4473 on it, or if I had to fill out a BOS when I bought it. The FFL is required to maintain those 4473s and the ATF says that they don't, but.... In the event that there are questions about a firearm that I once owned I figure that it would be nice to at least be able to have documentation that suggests that I no longer have it. -
K5 Blazer straight body, needed fuel pump. It was an 87 or 88, can't remember but had TBI and was a square body. Let my cousin have it for $1,000 because I didn't want to mess with it. (2004) 1979 Ford Bronco. Somewhat rough, but just needed some TLC. Really thought that I was doing something getting $1600 for it in 2005. 1993 F250 extended cab 4x4 7.3IDI turbo flatbed, ZF5 transmission. Always wanted one. Bought it, used it for a while, and sold it when it was no longer needed. Though I didn't need it anymore, I still miss that one. Basically everything else I've owned I absolutely ran into the ground and wore out, or it just wasn't remarkable.

Not sure about the shotgun, it appears that the picture was taken with a Sunbeam toaster.

Lol I barely missed that.

You will love the supermoto. I don't ride anymore (at one time I never thought that I would say that) but as many motorcycles came and went my motard stayed through them all and was the last to go. I miss it more than the others as well. GLWS!

I have little respect for the Mt. Juliet police department. That said, when they began talk of their license plate readers I was adamantly against the idea for reasons related to privacy, and fear that the system would be used by that department in a way in which it wasn't intended. Almost 3 years later I will admit that I was wrong. It seems that nearly a day can not pass without a stolen car being recovered. Not surprisingly, it seems that the majority of the stolen cars are driven by wanted felons, usually from Davidson County. (The local thugs know better than to run stolen plates in Mt. Juliet.) I saw these stats posted this morning so I thought that I would pass them along. I hear a lot of bad things from credible people about the way that the Mt. Juliet Police Department is run, but I haven't heard a single thing in 3 years about these cameras being used inappropriately.

I can't recall the last time that I was excited about a movie. A decade at least. But I can't wait for this one.

I'm on a Heritage Rough Rider Facebook page. There are people on that page with a dozen+ Rough Riders. One is plenty for me. It's fine for throwing in the truck or on the 4 wheeler and not worrying about it, mine functions fine, but the accuracy leaves something to be desired. I'm not bothering to got any of the black Friday sales where they will be available for $80 out the door. I'd rather have a Ruger or a Smith than 10 Rough Riders, but to each his own.

Good luck. Went down this road looking for a similar condition Model 29. My intention was to carry it in the woods, use it, and not worry about dinging it up. It seems that people who buy higher end guns have a tendency to designate them as safe queens and rarely use them. I would say this is even more true with Snake guns than run of the mill S&Ws.

Bump, someone needs a good shotgun.

I changed my avatar to my Christmas avatar during the last holiday season and never bothered to change it back. So I suppose I got you beat. Yay laziness -
Another vote for listing them here based on 95% of the dealings I've had on this forum have been extremely positive.

The American is tough to beat for the price. I have nice rifles and I have rifles that I actually use. The current gun market is weird. Most wood stocked guns have gotten to a price point where I no longer feel good about taking them into the woods. The past few years I've begun hunting with ARs, a Cerokoted Mossberg 500 with a slug barrel, and synthetic stocked bolt actions. I can take any of the above into the woods and not be concerned with them getting beat up, yet they all do their assigned jobs well.

My 2 year old falls asleep on RZR rides pretty consistently. He spends more time asleep than awake on riding days. Bed time with a nice bed and a sound machine it takes him an hour to go to sleep. 3 minutes bouncing down rough trails with a loud exhaust and he's out.
