  1. And the nanny states will probably make some kind of exception for it stating that it is for the good of public safety or some other garbage.  I really do not understand what the great benefit of this is.  I would think that even in "gun free zones" such as government buildings and airports a traditional metal detector would be more effective as it would pick up other "weapons" that this would not.  The only use I see of this device is to violate the rights of people that are not currently causing any problems.
  2. I just got a notice from Amazon via email informing me of how much money I had spent with them in 2012 so that I could pay taxes on it.  I like using Amazon because it is convenient and often cheaper than going to the store anyway so I certainly don't mind paying taxes on the items that I purchased.    I am a little confused though.  I understand by law that if a retailer has a brick and mortar store in your state then you have to pay taxes on mail order purchases.  How does this apply to Amazon purchases?  I am aware that they have fulfillment centers in TN but it isn't like you can walk into one and purchase items.
  3. Could this possibly be a 4th Amendment violation?
  4. That's awesome that all of the vendors came together to essentially ruin this show.  Surprised the show promoters have not changed their minds yet.
  5. I've personally boycotted the term for years.  Well said Sir.
  6. I've seen several times reading this legislation, the term "bullet buttons."  I've never heard this term before.  After doing a little research it sounds as if a bullet button something that is used in commie states like Kalifornia?  If I understand correctly they can not use a conventional mag release, instead you have to have a special tool to release and magazine.  Under the proposed legislation bullet buttons would be illegal and magazine would be fixed completely.  Am I understanding this correctly?
  7. Went by East Town Walmart today, they had a few random boxes, maybe a half dozen total.  None in popular calibers.
  8. Here is an article   http://www.kltv.com/story/20649805/reported-shooting-at-lone-star-college-north-campus
  9. I believe that they already have a no firearms policy, they did last time I was there but that was about 3 years ago.  I would have a hard time believing that they condoned hunting on their property anyway considering they have their own security force that patrols the property looking for trespassers.  From the sound of it anyone hunting there previously was trespassing anyway.  This is a privately owned facility is it not?   EDIT:  After looking at their website it looks like they have changed their policy to "Firing of weapons is strictly prohibited. NO TARGET PRACTICE!" I read this as "feel free to bring your carry weapon, please do not target practice at our facility."
  10. Man if I had a dime for every time I've heard about false information being provided in a carry class...  It's pretty ridiculous, seems that these people who are required to get certification to teach these classes would at least have to provide accurate information to their students.  My wife has argued with me about where I can carry, duty to inform, etc, I can't remember where she took her class, it was before she met me.  It's sad really that these instructors are misinforming so many people.  I guess a lot of times they are the exact same people that dispense their knowledge from behind the counter of a gun store and we all know how unreliable those guys can be.
  11. That is a great idea.  For the less tech savvy hook it up to an audible alarm.  That should get the thieves running quick!
  12. While we are on the topic, I have been meaning to engrave my name and TDL# somewhere on the underside of my trailer.  I figure do it somewhere a thief would not look, on the slim chance it gets recovered you will be able to prove that it is yours.  From what I understand telling the PD "I know that's my trailer there because it has that scratch on it that looks like the scar on my mommas forehead" doesn't quite cut it.
  13. Honestly, I saw this picture before having enough coffee this morning and it just rubbed me the wrong way.  I posted it as a knee jerk reaction, but that's okay because that is how this country operates now, right?  Seriously though, it just seems like they are getting in the face of gun owners and trying to stir something up.
  14. I've boycotted them for a long time due to their carry policies. This is taking it to a new level. I will continue to not eat their chicken! I don't know where this was, just got the pic and thought that I would pass it on.
  15. Trailers seem to be a hot item for thieves.  About 5 years ago I was storing my utility trailer in my grandmothers barn in a rural area.  When I went to retrieve it the lock was cut off and lying next to it.  The barn is not visable to any road and barely visable from her house.  The only thing that I could figure was that it was either the guys that lease the land behind her to hunt (known poachers, IMO thugs) or coon hunters that happened by (I know all of them in the area, nasty bunch.)  Thankfully I had neglected to take care of a leaky tire and they were unable to move it, but their intentions were clear.  I've thought since then about removing a wheel when storing it long term.
  16. If for none other this is a horrible idea because of all of the "assault weapons" the government will have on hand to distribute to the Mexican drug cartels.
  17. Noticed that today as well and thought that it was strange.
  18. http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-turn-in-an-assault-weapon-get-a-tax-break-20130115,0,3935943.story         If this passes I'm going out to the yard to get a stick, then I'm going to paint it black and insist that I get a $2000 tax credit for turning it in. When some government official tells me that said stick is not an assault weapon I will commence beating them until I have a $4000 tax credit.
  19. I see no reason to get any information.  I have a personal policy not to sell any of my firearms but if I decided to what repercussions could I face if I didn't get info from the buyer?
  20. I was once diagnosed with depression and prescribed Prozac.  I hated it, it turned me into a person who I was not.  It made me say and do crazy things.  I think that the relationship between these shootings and drugs are something that needs to be looked into.  Just as I'm sure of in my own case there are too many doctors out there that are too loose with the prescription pad, they get too many incentives from the pharmaceutical companies for prescribing their drugs.  These are the same pharmaceutical companies that let the media reach deep into their pockets so that they insure that information like this will never be released to the ABC, NBC, CBS, and probably FOX viewing public.  BTW after about 6 months I got off of Prozac and have not taken an anti depressant in over 10 years.  Pretty sure I wasn't depressed in the first place, just a case of a doctor getting a kickback.
  21. As long as you can write down a local address, have a pulse, and are breathing you shouldn't have any issues obtaining a drivers license.  Speaking English is optional as well.
  22. Link fixed.  Going back under my rock inside the cave now!
  23. In the vast amount of time I've wasted surfing the internet I've never seen this site before.  Looks like it has tons of useful info.  I don't necesarily agree with all of the authors opinions on home defense but none the less there is still lots of good info here.   http://www.theboxotruth.com/
  24. So I'm not the only one that has trouble following a conversation on Twitter?  Makes me feel a little better.
