  1. There are so many variables when it comes to insurance.  If you have BCBS you probably have a pretty decent policy.  It won't hurt to comparison shop but don't just look at the price, look at what you are getting as well.  Pay attention to what each policy will pay towards surgeries and whatnot.  Take into account any potentially dangerous activities that you participate in.     Take myself for example.  A few years ago I had what I thought was a decent policy.  I had a motorcycle crash and got to test the insurance.  Turned out that my insurance only covered about 60% of my associated medical bills leaving me with a fortune to pay out of pocket.  Looking back I would have paid another $20 a month to have more coverage, which I decided that I didn't need when I purchased my policy.  Look at it like this, I know they are taking a chunk out of your paycheck for insurance, but if you have a good policy that $360 a month could mean the difference down the road of bankrupting your self versus being financially secure should you or your wife be involved in a serious accident.     You could come out ahead now but if curtain climbers and old age are in your future $360 a month for health insurance will look like a deal. Check out some competing policies and let us know what you find out.
  2. I'm with you here Dave.  I don't have any guns that I'm not supposed to have, I can say undoubtedly that every piece I own is not stolen.  However, years ago I had a pistol stolen from me that I eventually got back.  2-3 years ago I got pulled over in Anderson County for rolling a stop sign.  Deputy ran my serial numbers and told me to have a nice day, said he appreciated me informing him and didn't write me a ticket for the traffic violation.  I didn't mind him running my numbers because I have nothing to hide and cops that do this will get more stolen guns back to their rightful owners.
  3.   This one was a Yuasa that I got at Mountain Motorsports.  I over paid for it but they kept my bike for 4 months for warranty work and killed the factory battery that was in it.  BTW it was more the fault of Suzuki Warranty than it was MMS for it being 4 months.  If anyone is considering buying a Suzuki Factory Warranty I can say that the $500 I have spent on it has saved me about $6,000 so far, I did however have to spend multiple hours on the phone and present my own service records after the dealer (Not MMS) recorded my mileage wrong between services and voided my warranty.  Only time I have ever had to threaten legal action against someone to get satisfaction.  But yes, I failed to put it on one of the 5 battery tenders that I have sitting in a box somewhere.
  4. I would attend but I' headed to Nashville to attend the rally at the Capitol and will not be back in time.
  5. I'm going to be there for sure.  About to head to Nashville.  Remember what Hickok said, if you bring a sign, make sure all of the words are spelled correctly or you will wind up on the news.  It also will not hurt to take a shower and look presentable.  Let's show the public that we are regular, well educated people, not a bunch of redneck hillbillies.  I think I should be able to accomplish this feat for a couple of hours anyway.
  6. Went out Sunday on a bike I haven't had a chance to start in a couple of months.  Battery was dead as could be and wouldn't take a charge.  Only had it 14 months.  Battery from the factory lasted 4 years.
  7.   Hey he needs the pardoned felon vote to win his third term.
  8. Piers Morgan and his advocacy is one of the best things that pro gunners have going for them right now.  I think that the majority of America sees him for the clown that he is.  In the long run I can only hope that he will hurt the gun control movement due to his incredibility.
  9. Nice looking weather end of next week, I may ride my motorcycle into Nashville Thursday, hang out with friends for a couple days and head back to K-town on Friday or Saturday.   Those that are going, any interest in meeting up for breakfast/coffee before hand?
  10. Unless you have a bunch of extra time on your hands, plenty of money for lawyers, and possibly a good connection with the good ole boy network I wouldn't try it. You are just asking for trouble.
  11. Very impressive, I would be embarrassed to shoot against her.
  12. Never knew that was there, I used to rip up and down the Sherwood side of Monteagle and turn around at Cunningham's, which was a scary place in itself. I've seen a couple of them on the Dragon with decent riders and was really amazed at their ability, they don't start dragging hard parts as quickly as the bikes the "chap wearers" ride as you put it.
  13. Not a big cruiser guy but I really like these.
  14. Thanks, I lived 11 miles from the Overlook for 2.5 years and spent a lot of time there.  Still have the scars to prove it actually.  That's a pretty Connie you got there.
  15. I guess you would call me a motorcycle enthusiast lets see what I can dig up. 2009 CBR600RR One of my favorite go fast bikes, really miss it. 2006 GSXR1000 Still own, for sale. Stupid fast, 440 pounds, 180+HP. 2008 Suzuki DRZ400SM only vehicle I've ever purchased new. Tons of mods. Funnest bike for the money and very versatile. 25,000 miles and on it's 3rd motor. 1995 Honda VFR750, I had to sell this a few years back, I did the paint and body work, it was a real looker, I do miss it. 2001 DRZ400E in process of becoming dualsport machine. CRF88 motard conversion with a ton of mods. Way too much fun! I race these in a local league. I bought another because they are a lot more fun to play with when you have a friend. 1998 Yamaha YZ400F crazy stupid fast dirtbike. Will soon be for sale. My newest addition 1991 Honda ST1100. Getting older and trying to get away from the fast stuff. The wife and I have really enjoyed this bike so far but I've only had it for a few months.
  16. Here is a link to an actual news story   http://www.wwnytv.com/news/local/LeRay-Man-Faces-Weapons-Possessions-Charges-185853881.html   I wonder if they aren't trying to make an example out of him?
  17. I can relate, I've been to too many doctors the last few months and most seemed incompetent.  I acknowledge that there are some good ones out there though.
  18. If it were me I'd post the signs, then go size up the neighbors.  If they seem okay I would just mention that I'd spent the day posting my property because of suspicious activity on the property and that I would appreciate them keeping an eye on it if they didn't mind.  I would also invite them over to grill out, shoot, or anything else just to extend an invitation.  Put it out there kind of like "I'm trying to protect my property but I don't think that you are the people that I need to protect it from."  If they seem shady I just wouldn't mention posting the property and just say that I wanted to come by and introduce myself.  Even if the neighbors seem okay I still wouldn't be quick to offer them use of the land.  If they wind up being an intrusion it will be more difficult to  get them off of it if you have already allowed them on it.
  19. Just came across that stats for the US as a whole for 2011, 4.7 murders per 100,000 to demonstrate how off the charts these other cities are.
  20. Great idea!  Two things and these are just my $0.02   1)  Solar charger is a good idea.  In a SHTF situation you may or may not also be able to use a USB charger, possibly with your laptop.  If you might be running a generator or what not this could work.  Can't have too many options here.   2)  I would store the phone in a place where it would survive an EMP bomb or serious solar flare.
  21. Just came across the Battle Mug web site via Stumble upon, looks like word is getting out!  Best of luck in this endeavor BimmerFreak.
  22. I grew up around guns and always had access to them.  I got my first shotgun when I was 10 but I don't think I was allowed to keep ammo until I was about 12, which was when I was allowed to hunt alone.  By 16 I had my .22, a 12 gauge, and a .270, I kept them all in my room and was allowed to transport them to go shooting or hunting.  My guns were not allowed to come out when friends were over with the exception of a couple that my parents knew well and had shot with.  I can honestly say I never did anything that I wasn't supposed to do with a gun growing up.    Now I'm on the other side of that equation and have a 3 year old.  We have exposed her to guns, she knows not to touch a gun without asking first.  It seems that she isn't very curious about them as we have let her handle them unloaded.  The curiosity just doesn't seem to be there.  We still take the necessary precautions.  Guns are either in the safe or on our person.  We used to leave them on top of the safe of fridge but since she started climbing on everything we have stopped that.  I'm torn on what to do as my daughter gets older and we add more children as well.  I fully intend to teach my children about guns and instill gun safety and responsibility into them.  I want to be able to leave them with a gun when they get old enough if need be when my wife and I are not here.  I also realize that teenagers will be teenagers and even the most responsible ones make bad decisions from time to time.    I remember when I was coming up there were certain lines that you did not cross and guns were one of them.  I remember getting my ass kicked by a group of 5 bullies when I was about 14, I didn't go home and get a gun, never crossed my mind.  I knew that if I showed bad judgement one time my guns would be taken away from me permanently and I liked my guns and getting to hunt whenever I wanted too much to let that happen.  The fear of losing my guns negated any temptation I may have ever had to do anything stupid with one.

    Music

My desires in music are pretty simple.  No rap, no modern country, no fake stuff.  Other than that I'll give it a listen.  Check out "Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys" they are out of Nashville.  I'd describe it as rockahellbilly.  It's a little different but it grows on me.  I just like seeing people play their hearts out without caring how much money they are getting out of it. http://youtu.be/8vZtbx-gbdo     And here is Rodger Ridley, unfortunately he passed a few years ago.  Guy could put Otis Redding to shame on "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" http://youtu.be/Es3Vsfzdr14
  24. I think that it has a whole lot more to do with culture and values than it does whether or not guns are illegal in that particular location.  We all know that the criminals will have guns even where they are completely banned.     Chicago's mayors or Illinois' governors?
