Sorry to hear. You sound like you do have your head on straight. Who was this person that decided that we should all go to college, get married, have children, work 9-5 Monday through Friday and hate it for 30 years, then retire and move to Florida or buy a motorhome? The people that do this run of the mill crap will never really be happy. I get criticized by some members of my family because they don't feel that I make enough money. I love my job, and I love the people I work with. I look forward to going to work and I make enough money to support my family and pretty much buy all of the toys I want within reason. I feel that even with a small bank account I am much richer than most that have lots of money. I've made twice what I'm making now working other jobs but there is no way I would go back. Screw anyone that doesn't approve, you don't pay my bills! AB, I hope you find a new hobby that you enjoy as much as hiking. Just don't conform because society thinks that you should.

Cookeville man shot by rifle in hard case?

Unfortunate. Instead of playing arm chair quarterback, lets let this serve as a lesson that we can never be too careful and just because you got away with a shortcut yesterday doesn't mean that you will get away with it today. It only takes one second of carelessness to cost someone their life. -
Do you have a link to this article? EDIT: Nevermind found it! http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57572207-38/dhs-built-domestic-surveillance-tech-into-predator-drones/

I carry in GA often and find the laws to be somewhat similar. When I'm in another state I always look over their laws but it is impossible to know every facet of every law of every state. When carrying "abroad" I keep it concealed regardless of whether or not open carry is allowed. I also make sure that I'm not printing, which I could usually care less about on my home turf. Basically don't let anyone know you are carrying and you shouldn't have any problems.

On the topic of tin foil, if I wrap my laptop in it will the government be able to see what I'm typing? What if I use the Reynolds Heavy Duty?

I think this one certainly falls under the category of play stupid games win stupid prizes. -
I know that the University of Tennessee offers a variety of what are called "non credit classes" which give basic information on a subject. Not sure if they have one on machine work but it would be worth checking out. Most colleges, especially state schools offer these, pretty sure Pellissippi State does as well.

I was on Highway 129 in Blount Co. yesterday and the air was smokey. Never could find a fire over there I'm guessing it may have blown over from Pigeon Forge.

Yes, I live in East Knox, not a consideration if you have children. I don't think that there is a bad part of West Knox. Most of South Knox is decent as well. West Knox will be a little pricey but I still think that you should be able to find what you are looking for for under $1000 per month.

Schakowsky: Assault Weapons Ban 'Just the Beginning'

Tired of these people. Don't want to sound too cocky but she can want in one hand and $*** in the other and see which one fills up faster. -
My first guess would be that the semi was hauling a load that was, classified, dangerous, or otherwise special and had an armed escort. That's just a guess, I lived in Oak Ridge for a while and someone was always talking about armed truck escorts around there.

Showing up for me, you had me scared there for a minute.

Not really sure where these people come up with this stuff? As of April 2013 passengers may carry a pocket knife as long as the blade is less than 2.36 inches long. The provision also allows the carry on of base ball bats that meet the criteria, pool cues, lacrosse sticks, and golf clubs. Golf clubs are limited to 2 per passenger so I'm not really sure what the point is here. I think an airplane is about as sterile of an environment that you can get. An airplane is about the only gun free zone I feel safe in. Not sure about these rules though. It looks to me like some of these items could compromise safety. I say either no golf clubs or I get to carry on my Glock, I don't care for this half ass stuff. Sorry for the CNN link, I saw a news report on TV this morning and CNN was the first article that popped up when I searched. http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/05/travel/tsa-carry-on-changes/index.html?npt=NP1

The carpet throughout the house is filthy, I just can't tolerate it. The safe weighs about 700 lbs. My experience with laminate is limited, I know just enough to be dangerous. I'm also thinking about just starting at the opposite side of the room so I could just go back and redo the last 3 feet when I'm ready to move, I'm thinking that it wouldn't be more than 3 rows that I would have to redo. Unfortunately, the room the safe is going in is a front facing extra bedroom, it has double windows looking out at the street so these will have to be covered 100% of the time so as the safe is not visible from the street, therefore fade shouldn't be a problem.

One bad man down, many many many more to go.

My wife and I just purchased a house and will be moving soon. I've never had a house before with a slab foundation but I do have experience with concrete anchors. Anchoring the safe to the slab it self is not a problem the problem lies in what to do about the flooring material. The room that the safe is going in currently has carpet but we are planning on ripping up the carpet and installing laminate. Should I set the safe directly on the concrete and lay the flooring around the safe or set the safe on top of the laminate. My concern is that we are only planning on living in this house for about 2 years and then moving on. It seems that either way I do it I will have to redo the flooring in that room when we move. Another idea that has crossed my mind is to figure out where the holes need to go and use a hole saw to cut holes in the laminate for the bolts to pass through. I'm thinking when it's time to move I could possibly glue the cutouts back into the holes and it would be minimally noticeable. Thoughts?

Retailers are going to sell this stuff right now, it is not going to sit on their shelves collecting dust. If anything stores that are putting limits on ammo and components are doing us average Joe's a favor. It would be easier for them to sell their entire stock to the first scalper that comes in as opposed to spreading it out over several customers.

I buy what appeals to me that will get used. I realize that I will never have every single gun that I want but I will try to have as many as I can. Right now I'm into .22s, and I will begin shooting them again as soon as ammo is available. I pretty much have all of the necessary bases covered so I try to get things that I just enjoy. I really like the older .22s, the cheaper the better, kind of one man's trash is anothers treasure. I would like to add a large caliber revolver and a AR15 to the arsenal but besides that I'm pretty content with what I have.
