Yup, suppose this is to keep idiots from coming in and trying out holsters and stuff with loaded guns. I can say that anytime I've been holster shopping I unloaded the gun before I entered the store voluntarily. I also usually ask the salesclerk if I can try the holster out with my unloaded gun. It only takes one careless person to cause stupid signs to be posted.

If you buy the vehicle new or with very low miles I think that your best bet is to change the fluid as recommended, once it goes over the recommended interval I believe the best bet is to leave it alone. I've had two junk yard transmissions go out on me within 6 months. I put fresh fluid in each before installing them. That's why I will not do junk yard transmissions anymore. Engines, and differentials, and manual transmissions? Change it and change it often!

I despise dealerships and will not set foot in one if I can keep from it. I've always done all of my own work. Once I was rebuilding an engine and had to go to the Ford dealership for a dipstick tube I think it was. (crushed mine because I failed to remove it before removing the engine.) As I pull up in my beat up old truck that had to be started with a screw driver I'm immediately bombarded by sales people trying to sell me a new vehicle. I just looked at them and said "New truck? Three more payments and this baby is all mine!" Seriously most car salesmen rank somewhere on my hierarchy of humanity somewhere between personal injury lawyers and child molesters. Seems that a lot of the good ones are ex cons, it's one of the few jobs that they can get, plus if they are willing to lie and screw people over they can make a lot of money, so many already have what it takes to do well in the profession.

Wow this time the liberals put one of there reporters right in the middle of the shooting.

If they bury him here I shall make a pilgrimage to piss on his grave.

I have lent guns in the past. Most of the time I have done it involved loaning deer rifles to friends that owned land because they wanted to get into deer hunting and had land but no gun. I never had anything bad happen but when I got into Mosins my 91/30 became my permanent loaner. It will get the job done and the beggars can't be choosers. I have never loaned a gun to anyone that I did not trust but I figure with the Mosin of something happens I'm out $100 as opposed to $500-$1000 for one of my other rifles.

The question is just too open ended for one definitive answer. A lot just depends on the specific situation. Unless the LEOs on the scene realize 100% that I'm a good guy I'm not going to put my hands anywhere near my gun. I've had several encounters with LEOs while OCing, these encounters have never been because I was OCing, and I've never gotten any negative reactions from LEOs for doing so. I will never put my hand near my gun in the presence of an LEO unless they know what I am doing.

There I fixed it for you!

This is true. My company sponsors a couple of AMA riders. One of them was going to come out and ride for some kind of charity event but had to get his motorcycle endorsement first. Thought that it was ironic that a guy who makes his living racing and runs a speed school wasn't even licensed on the street. Can't blame him though I get about zero enjoyment riding on the street while obeying all laws, I'm sure riding on the street for someone like that is probably about as exciting as my walk down the sidewalk to my car every morning.

Suddenly it hit me; best way to improve our image!

What about a high capacity magazine? Not it by the way! -
This right here! I would be dead many times over if I had not found the track to get the stupid out of me. These days I'm not driving stupid fast on public roads. I may hit around 100 on a good day on the way into work but that's a 25 mile drive and at 4 am through a whole lot of nothing, I can usually make the entire trip without seeing another vehicle. I'm no poke in traffic but I do try to avoid driving like an asshat.

Man this country is in deep doo doo. We have "leaders" trying to ban something because it is somewhat similar to something else that was used in a terrorist attack. (In case you have been living under a rock the terrorists in Boston used "gun powder" that was extracted from common consumer grade fireworks.) In the meantime I have heard of zero legislation concerning fireworks. Although I would oppose any legislation involving fireworks that would at least make more sense than attempting to restrict something that was not used at all in the manufacture of these bombs.

I was talking to someone the other day that claimed seeing armadillos in East Tennessee but I've never seen them East of Nashville myself.

Ha, I don't put up with that crap when I'm on my bikes, you either let me around you politely or you get to find out what 16,000 RPMs sounds like as it sucks the paint off of your ride.

We haven't had a thread complaining about the way someone drives in a good week so I thought that I'd open a can of worms and raise TGO's cumulative blood pressure and give yall something to talk about. You know what grinds my gears? "Sunday drivers," but you know, if they would stick to country roads and Sundays, and have a little courtesey it wouldn't be that bad. It seems that everywhere I turn there is some old retired fart preaching about how how he doesn't need to be anywhere at any certain time, he never exceeds 35 MPH, and he shifts at 1800 RPM and is able to get 16 MPG in his '89 dodge Ram by doing so. Here is a news bulletin, while the rest of the world thinks that it is great that you worked hard and are enjoying the fruits of your labor and are never in a hurry, we are still a part of the work force and we have to be places at a certain time or there are consequences. Of course the old farts like to say "well you should have left earlier." Well old fart, do you remember back when you were working 60+ hours per week at the office and still working on work after you got home? Mix that in with maintaining a house, taking care of and playing with your kids, sports practices, helping with homework, cooking dinner, cleaning the kitchen and then maybe getting in bed by 11 pm, and if you are really lucky you get to sleep until maybe 5 am before you have to get up and rush to get to work on time? Maybe you do remember doing all of that and it gives you great pleasure to sit out on the highway and quickly pull out in front of me just as I hit the highway and get up to speed. You must do this because you know that the next passing zone is 8 miles up the road and that you doing 30 in a 50 will make my head explode. I hope one day to be able to take the time to putt down the road, I have nothing against slow drivers, it actually sounds relaxing. I will always try to remember that some people do have places to be, since I will be in no hurry it will not be a problem to pull off the road for a second and let the working people on by. After all you can't yell at people on welfare and then yell at me for supporting a family and trying to get to work on time, that would be hypocritical.

I think that if there were any in at least the Continental United States a hunter would have shot one by now. Or at least found reputable evidence of them.

I don't own a firearm that I don't have some ammo lying around for, some of this has to do with greatly putting on the brakes as far as how much shooting that I have been doing. Actually I'm not shooting at all. I have enough ammo to last a while because I've conserved well. I'm not giving the last of mine to some knuckle head to burn up. If we ever do have a scenario such as a government collapse or the exact people who will be begging for preps because they didn't have the foresight to stock up on stuff before hand. We are not doing anything but hurting ourselves on this ammo shortage thing right now. Go pick up a fishing pole and come back in a few months.

I see both sides of it. There is enough road for everyone if we share it. I spent about 3 miles doing 15 MPH one day because a guy on a mountain bike in front of me insisted on riding in the center of the lane. I try to be respectful of cyclists but I keep running into the bad apples of the bunch.

I don't think that there is a one size fits all truck gun, it just depends on what you are likely to encounter. These days living in the suburbs but working in remote mountain areas I might carry a 30/30 or a 12 GA slug gun to work with me but it's coming in the house at night and will not be left in the car. There have been times that I have kept a deer rifle in the truck at all times, but back in those days I was doing a lot of hunting and had permission to shoot deer in a lot of places around our community. Other times a .22 rifle has filled the need just fine, it just depends on what you need to do. A M44 Mosin might be great for some while others prefer a .22 or an AK-47 for the same job. Of course my long gun is always carried in addition to my Glock or my Kimber.

I don't know how you guys are playing golf with these balls and clubs and whatnot, but back when I was still allowed on the course whoever drank the most beer before being asked to leave the venue won. Bonus points were given for stunt driving carts. That was our rules anyway, I think you received a prize if you got the cart all the way to the 18th hole but my team never made it that far.
-
Be very careful not to commit any crimes at all if you are carrying a questionable gun. I've had my gun's numbers run at a traffic stop for rolling a stop sign out between the boondocks and nowhere'sville. I had nothing to worry about but it sounds like some people here may.

I read the first book and saw the movie, and though I enjoyed the idea of the book and movie and found it to be very realistic in depicting the way we are headed as a society, I would find the series much more appealing if it concentrated on strategy and survival instead of being more of a love story.

Time to beat the dead horse some more.

Is this the same shop that has huge banners on the side offering to buy ammo? If so they have just about anything you want in stock but I believe a box of 50 .22LR will run about $6 and that's for the cheap stuff. -
After doing a good bit of research I have found that the safe has a claimed weight of 570 pounds, which was lighter than what I formally recalled. I figure fully loaded with all of the stuff I keep in there we are in the neighborhood of 700 pounds. The safe has a foot print of 24"x40" I figure that I wouldn't think twice about setting a 200+ pound dresser on the floor, but there you would likely have all of the weight distributed between 4 small legs so the psi would be much higher than what I am dealing with now. From what I have read though it is not a good idea to bolt the safe to the floor because the whole idea of a floating floor is that it just sits on the subfloor unattached and bolting it down will cause the floor to buckle. Geez this has really turned into a headache.
