I was talking to someone the other day that claimed seeing armadillos in East Tennessee but I've never seen them East of Nashville myself.

Ha, I don't put up with that crap when I'm on my bikes, you either let me around you politely or you get to find out what 16,000 RPMs sounds like as it sucks the paint off of your ride.

We haven't had a thread complaining about the way someone drives in a good week so I thought that I'd open a can of worms and raise TGO's cumulative blood pressure and give yall something to talk about. You know what grinds my gears? "Sunday drivers," but you know, if they would stick to country roads and Sundays, and have a little courtesey it wouldn't be that bad. It seems that everywhere I turn there is some old retired fart preaching about how how he doesn't need to be anywhere at any certain time, he never exceeds 35 MPH, and he shifts at 1800 RPM and is able to get 16 MPG in his '89 dodge Ram by doing so. Here is a news bulletin, while the rest of the world thinks that it is great that you worked hard and are enjoying the fruits of your labor and are never in a hurry, we are still a part of the work force and we have to be places at a certain time or there are consequences. Of course the old farts like to say "well you should have left earlier." Well old fart, do you remember back when you were working 60+ hours per week at the office and still working on work after you got home? Mix that in with maintaining a house, taking care of and playing with your kids, sports practices, helping with homework, cooking dinner, cleaning the kitchen and then maybe getting in bed by 11 pm, and if you are really lucky you get to sleep until maybe 5 am before you have to get up and rush to get to work on time? Maybe you do remember doing all of that and it gives you great pleasure to sit out on the highway and quickly pull out in front of me just as I hit the highway and get up to speed. You must do this because you know that the next passing zone is 8 miles up the road and that you doing 30 in a 50 will make my head explode. I hope one day to be able to take the time to putt down the road, I have nothing against slow drivers, it actually sounds relaxing. I will always try to remember that some people do have places to be, since I will be in no hurry it will not be a problem to pull off the road for a second and let the working people on by. After all you can't yell at people on welfare and then yell at me for supporting a family and trying to get to work on time, that would be hypocritical.

I think that if there were any in at least the Continental United States a hunter would have shot one by now. Or at least found reputable evidence of them.

I don't own a firearm that I don't have some ammo lying around for, some of this has to do with greatly putting on the brakes as far as how much shooting that I have been doing. Actually I'm not shooting at all. I have enough ammo to last a while because I've conserved well. I'm not giving the last of mine to some knuckle head to burn up. If we ever do have a scenario such as a government collapse or the exact people who will be begging for preps because they didn't have the foresight to stock up on stuff before hand. We are not doing anything but hurting ourselves on this ammo shortage thing right now. Go pick up a fishing pole and come back in a few months.

I see both sides of it. There is enough road for everyone if we share it. I spent about 3 miles doing 15 MPH one day because a guy on a mountain bike in front of me insisted on riding in the center of the lane. I try to be respectful of cyclists but I keep running into the bad apples of the bunch.

I don't think that there is a one size fits all truck gun, it just depends on what you are likely to encounter. These days living in the suburbs but working in remote mountain areas I might carry a 30/30 or a 12 GA slug gun to work with me but it's coming in the house at night and will not be left in the car. There have been times that I have kept a deer rifle in the truck at all times, but back in those days I was doing a lot of hunting and had permission to shoot deer in a lot of places around our community. Other times a .22 rifle has filled the need just fine, it just depends on what you need to do. A M44 Mosin might be great for some while others prefer a .22 or an AK-47 for the same job. Of course my long gun is always carried in addition to my Glock or my Kimber.

I don't know how you guys are playing golf with these balls and clubs and whatnot, but back when I was still allowed on the course whoever drank the most beer before being asked to leave the venue won. Bonus points were given for stunt driving carts. That was our rules anyway, I think you received a prize if you got the cart all the way to the 18th hole but my team never made it that far.

Be very careful not to commit any crimes at all if you are carrying a questionable gun. I've had my gun's numbers run at a traffic stop for rolling a stop sign out between the boondocks and nowhere'sville. I had nothing to worry about but it sounds like some people here may.

Well looks like a sausage party but they are still having too much fun IMO. http://www.wsmv.com/story/22092401/tdoc-disciplines-70-inmates-at-14-prisons-after-channel-4-i-team-report

I read the first book and saw the movie, and though I enjoyed the idea of the book and movie and found it to be very realistic in depicting the way we are headed as a society, I would find the series much more appealing if it concentrated on strategy and survival instead of being more of a love story.

Time to beat the dead horse some more.

Is this the same shop that has huge banners on the side offering to buy ammo? If so they have just about anything you want in stock but I believe a box of 50 .22LR will run about $6 and that's for the cheap stuff. -
After doing a good bit of research I have found that the safe has a claimed weight of 570 pounds, which was lighter than what I formally recalled. I figure fully loaded with all of the stuff I keep in there we are in the neighborhood of 700 pounds. The safe has a foot print of 24"x40" I figure that I wouldn't think twice about setting a 200+ pound dresser on the floor, but there you would likely have all of the weight distributed between 4 small legs so the psi would be much higher than what I am dealing with now. From what I have read though it is not a good idea to bolt the safe to the floor because the whole idea of a floating floor is that it just sits on the subfloor unattached and bolting it down will cause the floor to buckle. Geez this has really turned into a headache.

This is why I don't buy guns from shifty people. I buy most of my guns from people that I know. I haven't purchased any guns on this forum but I would do so without hesitation from a good deal of the members here. It's buyer beware for sure. You just have to make a good judgement call, if your gut tells you no then walk.

Bounty Hunters Break into Home Against Will of Homeowner
10-Ring replied to TMF's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm just thinking that say they get the wrong house. They kick in the door and the homeowner shoots them. If I'm on that jury I think I would tend to be pretty sympathetic towards that homeowner. -
Murfreesboro Police gun buyback this Saturday
10-Ring replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just sent a buddy of mine who works for MPD an email telling him that I knew a guy that could dispose of all of the guns and ammo they take in for a reasonable fee. -
In regards to shooting through a pocket make sure that you are carrying ammo that the fibers from your clothes will not clog up the hollow point and cause the bullet not to expand. I have a friend that does a lot of ballistics testing and I've seen certain bullet designs get clogged up by shooting them through something as simple as a beach towel. Of course this should be a concern with all defensive ammo but when you are knowingly planning on possible putting that bullet through another layer it may be something to take into consideration.

I for one love my Kimber. I have an Ultra II. I bought it from a friend because I shot it and really liked it, told him if he ever wanted to sell it that I wanted dibs. He called me a few months later and we made a deal. I have no regrets, I love that gun and would not have offered to buy it from him had I not enjoyed shooting it so much.

Been wanting to go on a dog shoot for years. Thing is I work seasonally and my work season coincides with when the dogs are most active. My dad has been wanting to go for years as well, he's never been much of a hunter, more of a shooter so I never really got to hunt with him much. I would love to take a week, even if I did have to skip some work to take dad while I still have the opportunity.

I don't mind to buy a gun that I can't get ammo for if I can get it at a really good price. It will all come back around eventually or the poopoo will hit the fan one. If option two then I'm not worried about buying guns for recreational purposes and any gun that I buy at this point is pretty much for recreational purposes.

Here we are almost 2 months after my initial post and I have another problem related to the mounting of this safe. We are moved into the house and I have installed engineered wood flooring in all of the bedrooms. I had the idea of putting the safe in our bedrooms walk in closet and flooring around it. Well, I got the safe in the closet and realized that it's just not going to work in there as there is not enough room to access the safe comfortably. What I'm wanting to do now is move it back into the bedroom, however I am worried about setting a 700 pound safe on a floating floor. Anyone have experience with floating floors that can give me some advice? Only other option at this point is to put it in the garage which I really don't want to do because of the extreme temps out there, plus I just like my guns to be in the house.

Bounty Hunters Break into Home Against Will of Homeowner

Maybe dirtbag isn't an accurate description, I just don't care for the guy. I don't care for the way he drops F bombs left and right one minute then climbs up on his high horse and preaches the gospel the next minute. None of us Christians are perfect but I feel that he sets a poor example. I've also heard him take anti 2nd A stances numerous times which does nothing to favor him for me. -

Bounty hunting can be as honorable of a profession as anything else that's legit. Scum bags like Dogg give the profession a bad name, and I'm sure that there are a lot of mall ninja types that do the same. Seems that in certain cases they are justified breaking doors down but they better be damn sure they are in the right before they do. -
Looking for links or info on TN gun laws
10-Ring replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Open carry is legal but not widely practiced, if you choose to open carry you may have to answer some questions from noisy people who can't mind their own business and law enforcement as well. No limits on mag capacity. Concealed carry is fine of course. No duty to retreat. Restaurants and bars are only forbidden if they are properly posted, but if you are drinking do not carry. Beware when you are hiking, some parks are okay and some are not, any National Parks are fine and state parks are okay though many are still posted from when it was not legal to carry in state parks, many local parks have ordinances that prohibit carry so research where you are going, you can probably find most of that information here on TGO, or ask specifically and someone can probably answer your specific question. Not a whole lot you have to worry about in TN, about the only time I'm not carrying is when I have to go into a government building, as I avoid restaurants and other privately owned establishments that forbade carry.
