  1. This is why we need to bring back the duel.  If the two gentlemen would have faced off and had a duel the world would have at least one less idiot to deal with this morning.
  2. I don't normally give my attention to those that have shot up a gas station in order to get themselves a little cash and I'm not making an exception for a piece of white trash who calls himself Dogg, or Dog, or Dawg, or whatever.  He's as hypocritical as they come.  Always despised how he would be dropping F bombs left and right one minute and telling them to find God the next.  Gotta lead by example brah.
  3. I could probably do a week in November, December would be even better.  I work seasonally and October is a big month, November is pretty slow though.  If this materializes please PM me and let me know as I forget to check this subforum on a regular basis.  Oh and I will be just fine without the phone, my wife gets onto me for leaving home without it all of the time.
  4. Though zero turns are pretty safe on hills a walk behind, which is what we were discussing is likely the safest because all you have to do is step off and let it go if you get in trouble.
  5. If I were in your shoes I would be looking for a used commercial walk behind in 48" or 54" with a Velke(That's what you ride on.)  Used to run 2 54"ers when I had my lawn care business.  They are every bit as fast to mow with and turn as a zero turn, plus you don't get swamp butt sitting in that seat.  You can pick up a decent servicable used one for about $1500.
  6. Don't touch the radio or the AC, other than that hang on and shut up!
  7. I travel the road every single day.  Sometimes by bike, sometimes by car.  Please, if you go, 1) Stay in your lane, 2) Use the pull offs, if someone is behind you and they were not a minute ago that means they are faster than you, using one of the 108 (really there are 108 of them) paved pull offs is the courteous thing to do.  3) Ride your own ride at a pace you are comfortable with, if your adrenaline is flowing you are pushing yourself and endangering everyone else on the road.
  8. I sold a gun once and regretted it, now I only add to my collection, may not bring in guns as often as I like but I'm not giving any up either.
  9. Lived there for a while, not much to do right there.  I spent a lot of time fishing for trout below Norris Dam just up the road in Norris.  I always really enjoyed Big Ed's and that was the first thing I thought of to do in OR.  Lots of beautiful scenery to be seen just out of town.  Usually did my drinking at the Applebee's, I think it burned or closed after I moved though.
  10. I spend a lot of time in Savannah and have never had any issues.  I have always carried concealed, as I do anytime I'm in public, especially out of state.  The area seems to be pretty carry friendly, I don't even recall seeing many gun buster signs in the area.  With so many great bars in Savannah and their lack of an open container law in the historic district I often leave my gun locked up and enjoy walking the streets with a good beer.
  11. The source of this article is examiner.com, which anyone can write anything they want on.  This website is as reliable as anything that Eric Holder says, at the very least.  I really hope this is the case in this instance.
  12. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with this statement.  As someone who has taught countless people to ride I can attest that it is much easier to learn motorcycle fundamentals on a bike that is light weight and doesn't have mountains of power.  I know that you ride a Goldwing, which I think is a fine ride but I would never tell someone that a Goldwing makes a great first bike.  If I'm teaching someone that has zero motorcycle experience I start them out on a CRF88 which has an automatic clutch, I then move them to one that has a manual clutch and then onto a KLX250.  For a first bike I recommend something that doesn't have body work, as it is expensive to replace when damaged, and you ARE going to drop that first bike, something that doesn't have a crazy amount of power and something that is light weight.  I had a 2006 GSXR1000 it was a very fun bike but there is no way that I would tell a person that they should get it as a first bike because that is the bike they want, with 180+HP weighing in at 440 pounds, that's just a death trap in the wrong hands.  By the way, I'm always willing to work with and teach anyone who wants to ride free of charge, I'll even provide the bikes.
  13. Burn phone for all of the time, registered with false info!
  14.   Rapist, murderer, okay maybe depending on the situation.  Shoplifter?  Nope, not me, I'll let that stuff walk.  My $0.50 bullet isn't worth Belk's $500 worth of clothing.  And it sure as hell isn't worth an innocent bystanders life if things go bad.
  15. Stupid.  I spent 6 years working loss prevention.  Petty theft like this is a very minimal loss.  Most retail stores mark up clothing exponentially.  They really are not worried that a shirt walking out the door is going to break the business.  It is employee theft that will shut a business down.  I passed up making apprehensions several times if we were busy and the doorways were filled with people because I didn't want a shoplifter going berserk and getting a shopper injured.  To fire upon someone because they were trying to get away is unthinkable, the guy should have his gun and permit confiscated for life.  These are the people that we do not need having guns, they give the rest of us a bad name.
  16. Never thought about this.  The first stop I make on a long road trip (800+ miles) is Cracker Barrel.  You have to put down a deposit on the book but they rent it to you for $3.50 a week and return your deposit when you return the book.  Been doing that for a while, I'll try this next time though.  A good audiobook makes a day of driving easy.
  17. I'd like to have their jobs but I don't guess I'm qualified since I'm honest, always do what I say, could care less about money so long as my basic needs are met, and I hate golf.  Call me what you want but if I had an invitation to meet/ hang out with the president I would decline.  He is nothing but a threat to America, why, if I was an elected official, why would I want to go hob nob around with him?  I would feel like I had some explaining to do to my constituents after fraternizing with that piece of garbage.
  18. Looks like everyone here knows how to shoot a deer properly.  Only meat that has a wound channel in it when I get done is the rib cage and there just ain't much meat on that.
  19. I think that we should all be able to walk around with an ounce of weed and a high capacity mag.
  20. I don't know how much truth there is to this because it came from the mouth of a Kirby salesman but supposedly you can never sell your Kirby and if you do and ever take it in for service and the serial number is not registered to you Kirby can reposes it.  Seems far fetched to me and it seems impossible to enforce.  In actuality I think he just said that to deter me from buying one off of Craigslist.
  21. I'm a skinny guy and have a hard time concealing without a winter coat.  I OC at work but when I go into town it gets covered with a T-shirt most of the time.  I don't worry about it.  No one has ever said anything.  It's pretty obvious and noticeable but most people don't pay attention anyway.  It's surprising how many people don't even pay attention when you are OCing.
  22. Really good ideas.  I've been wanting a sign, seems about everyday I'm home during the week someone is knocking on the door trying to sell something.
  23. I know I should but I don't, by the time I get home from work I'm tired of carrying it around, I lock the doors and my gun goes on top of my dresser.  When they showed up I happened to be wearing athletic shorts, and my Glock just keeps pulling them down :yuck:!  It's a balance of safety vs comfort and I live in a neighborhood that I feel pretty good about so I usually do not hesitate to take my gun off when I get home for the day.  I think I'll just start answering the door with the 870 in hand.   That's always been my policy, my wife is very trusting and has problems telling people to get off the porch.  I think after this experience and the talk we had afterwards she is seeing things more my way now.  Funny thing is we don't have a shred of carpet in this house.  Before we went to bed I asked her "How would we feel right now if we had just dropped two grand on a vacuum cleaner and we don't even have carpet, because I don't think I would be sleeping tonight if we did."  Also the way they sent a respectable looking person to the door and then sent in the crackheads showed her that things are not always as they seem.  The salesman was very pushy and very intense.  Luckily I'm really good at finding holes in the facts which is what I finally did in order to shut him down.
  24. Last night my wife and I were spending some quality time together doing some projects around the house.  Specifically, we were hanging curtain rods in a front bedroom.  We just bought this house and still are not completely moved in.  We see a Suburban pull up out front and a very nice looking young girl gets out and rings the doorbell.  Since I will not answer the door for people that I do not know my wife decided to answer the door.  The girl says that they have started a new business cleaning floors and that they would buff the living room floor for free if we would fill out a short survey.  I didn't like it from the get go but the next thing I know two pill head looking guys are in my house with a Kirby vacuum cleaner and the good looking girl disappears.  It was already 8:00 when they rang the doorbell.  Before she answered the door I told her not to buy anything.  I go about my business and was very short with the sales people, although I was trying to keep an eye on both of them, fortunately, since we are still moving there is not really anything of value in the house, and I really did feel like we were being scoped.  Two hours later the guy has knocked the price down to $1700 + tax.  I don't make impulse buys and don't finance stuff, and honestly we have put a few thousand dollars in the house over the last few weeks so I didn't feel like a $1700 vacuum cleaner was a good financial move.  The wife however was starting to bite on it.  Eventually the salesman tells me that Kirby is certified by the Heart and Lung Association, which I don't really know much about, but because of that the purchase price is 100% tax deductible because of medical conditions that my daughter has.  I tell him to show me that in writing.  He then tells me that because I am self employed I can clean my car with it and write it off as a business expense.  I know better, and a realize that he is not answering my questions, but instead offering other solutions.  At this point I just want these people out of my house as it is already after 10pm.  Guy tells me that if he doesn't make this sell then he's not going to reach his quota this month, blah, blah, not my problem.  I do a quick search on Bing and find that there are several people that have been told that the vacuum can be taken as a deduction due to medical conditions, yet when they did their taxes that was not the case.  I showed the salesman what I had found, at that point he just kind of gave up.  I felt violated, but not nearly as violated as I would have if we had bought the stupid thing.  The guy asked for a drink once and my wife gave him a glass of water.  About 30 minutes later he asked if we had anything besides water, and my wife gave him one of my beers.  I've been telling her that I want to get a no soliciting sign to put by the doorbell, I think after last night that purchase will be approved.  There was just so much wrong with the whole situation, the whole thing just kind of ticked me off.  I think my wife now also understands why I will not answer the door for strangers and why I don't want people that I do not know in my house.
