If the SA22 deal falls through with Derf let me know please. -
Not concerned for the same reason that I don't watch news or sports, there isn't a damn thing I can do about it to change the outcome.

Confused about legal carry at church daycare
10-Ring replied to BigK's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
May be worth mentioning as I refreshed myself on 37-19-13xx and 49-6-xxx last night the wording often used will be "elementary", "secondary", and "institutions of higher education" but did not specially address pre -schools. -
Confused about legal carry at church daycare
10-Ring replied to BigK's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There's some rather complicated reading under TCA 39-17-1309. Unfortunately, I think that the short answer is that you are not legal to carry in this scenario. I hope that I am wrong and someone can find information otherwise. 49-6-815. People permitted to possess and carry a firearm on school grounds. (a) Notwithstanding § 39-17-1309 or any other provision of title 39, chapter 17, part 13 to the contrary, the following people are permitted to possess and carry a firearm on the grounds of the school at which they are assigned: (1) A person employed by an LEA as a faculty or staff member at a school within the LEA; or (2) A person assigned to a school in accordance with a memorandum of understanding between the chief of the appropriate law enforcement agency and the LEA. (b) In order to possess and carry a firearm on the grounds of the school pursuant to subsection (a), the person must: (1) Be authorized to possess and carry a firearm pursuant to § 39-17-1351; (2) Have the joint written authorization of the director of schools in conjunction with the principal of the school to carry or possess a firearm on school property; and (3) Be a law enforcement officer, or have prior service as a law enforcement officer, as defined in § 39-11-106, and be in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations of the peace officer standards and training (POST) commission, and have successfully completed forty (40) hours in basic training in school policing as required by § 49-6-4217. Any such training shall be approved by the LEA and the cost of the training, firearm and ammunition shall be at the expense of the person seeking authorization and not the LEA. (c) (1) Within ten (10) days after the director of schools has authorized a person to carry or possess a firearm on school property pursuant to subdivision (a)(1) or (a)(2), the director shall notify the chief of the appropriate law enforcement agency of each such authorization. (2) The notification pursuant to this subsection (c) shall contain basic information about each such person including name, address, contact information and whether the person is authorized under subdivision (a)(1) or (a)(2). (d) The joint written authorization of the director of schools and the principal of the school given pursuant to subdivision (b)(2), the notification transmitted to the chief of the appropriate law enforcement agency pursuant to subdivision (c)(1), the names and contact information of any person authorized to carry or possess a firearm on school property pursuant to subdivision (c)(2), any listing or compilation of names or individual names of persons who are authorized to carry or possess a firearm on school property, whether the director of schools and the principal of the school have or have not issued joint written authorization to carry or possess a firearm on school property, or any other document, file, record, information or material relating to the carrying or possessing of a firearm on school property pursuant to this section that is received by, transmitted to, maintained, stored or compiled by the director of schools, the principal of the school, any LEA, or city, county or municipal law enforcement agency, shall be confidential and not open for public inspection. (e) Nothing in § 49-3-315 shall be construed to require an LEA or a law enforcement agency of the county to assign or provide funding for a school resource officer as defined in § 49-6-4202 to any city school system within that county on the basis of the WFTEADA as defined by § 49-3-302. The providing of security or school resource officers by a sheriff shall be considered a law enforcement function and not a school operation or maintenance purpose that requires the apportionment of funds pursuant to § 49-3-315. -

Out of the 1/2 dozen 22 pistols that I own, the TX is the second cheapest (to a Heritage) and the most fun.

Kimber gets a lot of hate, but I've been carrying a Micro 9 for about 5 years now and absolutely love it. It's about as close to perfect as I've found for a carry gun and this one is priced very well. GLWS. -
If I have to go to the Lebanon Walmart I do my best to dress like I'm homeless. The goal is to get people to offer me food and money instead of asking me for it. I've also told my wife not to go to Walmart after dark but she doesn't listen very well.

Good luck with that. Oh the irony that the government is trying to make something illegal because people use a substance that used to be illegal, but isn't illegal anymore in some places partially because laws were not effective in stopping people from using it. -
No, this should be a penned thread.

Smoked some chicken wings yesterday, seasoned with Louisiana seafood boil seasoning and butter. They were great. Also smoked some cream cheese. Wife took it to work and none came home .

I lived close to Fontana for several years. Never fished it. Pretty lake. The dam and spillways are an engineering marvel. I know a lot of people from East Tennessee would make the trip over to Fontana to fish. There are also several other worthy lakes downstream from Fontana. I always wanted to fish Calderwood, if for no other reason than the solitude, I've heard it's difficult to fish because it gets deep quickly and there is supposedly a lack of structure. I've also heard of giant lake trout coming out of there. If you are making the trip might as well hit up Fontana and Calderwood.

Shelby County Shootout Leaves Homeowner in Jail

Great example of why the only words that should come out of your mouth if you find yourself in this situation are "I want to speak with my lawyer" -
Got hit for 4 separate transactions totaling $375 a few weeks ago. They were sports bets. The barn made everything as easy as possible but there is still the hassle of changing everything that I had on draft.

I have to ask what a golf ball shoot is. Googled it and I'm not coming up with much. Sounds like something that is needed on my backyard range though. -
I've gotten some of mine in. I'm out of town right now, but placed several seeds in wet paper towels and put them in a box by a window before I left. Will check them when I get back and start planting what is ready. I'm only showing a low of 41 in Lebanon tomorrow night. Hopefully my tomatoes will be okay.

I came here to argue with you that starlings fall under "open year around, no limit" like most other pests, but apparently TWRA has removed them from that category and like you said, there is no open season on them.
-
You will not find any case law in Tennessee pertaining to hunting within city limits, because there is none. Seasons are set by the TWRA, a state agency. The TWRA does not limit hunting to specific areas. Several cities ban hunting within city limits, but their rules are not enforcable so long as you are not in violation of TWRA rules. All that said, shooting starlings one at a time is like pissing in the wind.

Not worried about it. I'll own a semi automatic for the rest of my life.

Bump, headed through Chattanooga from Nashville Sunday or Monday and back on Wednesday if anyone happens to have anything along the way.
