  3. Sup byrd, yup its the chigga lol
  4. Those look pretty good. I've had rubber grips before on my Kimber but not sure where they came from. Really comfy. Here's an inexpensive one I found: 86428 - Rubber Grip Panels Colt .45/1911 Black Something that I found really works for me (and this is really ghetto though) is on a Springfield TRP, which has really sharp grips for some reason, I just wrapped the grips (which also included the front and backstrap) with sporting griptape. The kind that you would use on a hockey stick...Its cheap, grippy, and covered the sharp areas so it was comfortable for extended shooting. Just make sure you don't have it wrap the grip safety. But that was better to me than any aftermarket grip, but I think I'm in the minority haha.
  5. Just curious, but where are most people getting their custom smithing for their 1911's done at? Two gun shops here in Memphis tell me that pretty much everyone they know sends their 1911's off to get work done. But they didn't have a consensus on where to refer.
  6. I know you're looking for the classic AK47's (ie - wood furniture, etc), but here's a pretty good alternative for the price as well. AK47 Talk: Interesting new Romanian variant M10-762 (review) https://www.cogunsales.com/index.php/vmchk/Modern-Firearms/WASR-10-AK-47-7.62x39-Rifle-Romanian/Detailed-product-flyer.html (specs) I ordered one last week and can't wait for it to come in. For mags, get the European steel surplus mags. Can be found really cheap at AIM Surplus. Stay away from American, Chinese, and Bulgarian (except the Circle 10 Waffle) mags and anything polymer (which fits in the above categories as well). The only non-plain jane looking AK mags that are better, are the top of the line Circle 10 Waffle, which also cost $75, so not worth it cuz you can just get 7 comm-bloc surplus mags for that price. Surplus European Steel AK47 7.62x39 30rd Magazines
  7. Another +1 here for the CZ452, though if price was a HUGE issue, you would be quite satisfied with the Savage Mark II as well.
  8. @zapfbroad - Its a play on words from many years ago. Its a car racing term, and I been using it after I got into an accident in a sports car from hitting a pole.
  9. I'm about to make a purchase on a New Agent 9mm myself. Will be getting it later this week. I really like the size and inexpensive ammo. Plus its on a 1911 platform. Now, if it was chambered in .45, I would only shoot a full size, but I think the New Agent would be a great purchase for a carry gun in 9mm. I've owned and carried full size 1911's in the past, and they are my favorite gun to shoot (which is why I'm finally going to get rid of my Glock that I've been carrying)...Kimber's are hit and miss in the quality department. Some people have reported slide releases and other things breaking prematurely due to the manufacturing process of those particular parts. I've personally owned 2 Kimbers with no issues (a Custom II and a Pro Carry II). I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Kimber again. My Custom II was the most accurate gun I have ever owned, and I regret selling it due to my fear from all of the internet people talking crap about it. But looking back, I had shot thousands of rounds, each one of them with no failures, and it was even more accurate than my Springfield TRP Operator. Shoulda just kept it. Thumbs up on the New Agent in 9mm. Don't get it in 45. 1911's aren't really designed to be shot in anything less than full size, so it can potentially be problematic in a carry situation. The reason being the smaller size and thus the shorter distance everything moves as far as the slide goes, occasionally causes failure to feed. Some overcome this issue by playing with the spring rates to try to slow down the slide and I did this as well on my Pro Carry, but in the long run, it just seems to make more sense to either carry a full size 45 or a compact 9mm instead of trying to tweak a compact 45, but that is entirely up to you if you want to stick with the 45. Also, you'll want to buy Wilson Combat mags. I've owned Wilson, Tripp Cobra, and Chip McCormicks, and even made my own hybrids...but I just think Wilson Combat makes the best 1911 mags.
  10. Just saying Hi. I'm currently a student at the UT College of Pharmacy. Been shooting and carrying for several years. My favorite guns to shoot are 1911's. Recently purchased an AK47 for SHTF scenarios. Slowly rebuilding my gun collection after selling off most of it years ago...oh and I love cars
