  1. I sent the representative an email of support with a cc to my rep asking him to get on board with revising posting laws. If we all did the same, maybe it would help. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2.   AMEN!   Is there any hope of someone in the legislature championing this position?  Do any TN state gun rights groups or local chapters of national gun rights groups like the NRA lobby for this?  I would put my money behind such a group or legislator....but sadly I see no one pushing this in TN.   Until this issue is addressed everything else is a distraction.
  3. I have a CZ 75b...classic heavy stainless.  Great range gun and backup house gun.   CZ PCR...great alloy frame mid size...my favorite CZ so far...need night sights that are hard to find!  That's the biggest downside to CZ products.   CZ Kadet full frame gun...my favorite 22...they should still offer this in a full frame gun rather than a kit.   I love these threads because the more people that realize how great these products are, the more accessories will show up.  Like the night sights I want.  I find CZ to offer better ergonomics including grip, handling, and bore axis than most any other SA/DA/DC options that are reasonably priced.  I have to say the Rami was not for me though.   I am with OP...I want the P-09 next...I have my eye on a FDE model I saw at a store in Cool Springs...maybe a nice Christmas present?
  4. At least some of the parties to a suit like this don't care about the ultimate outcome.   The deep pockets anti firearm contingent behind this ( Bloomberg et al?), just want to make manufacturing and defending firearm production so costly that fewer and fewer companies will exist.  Those that remain, provide fewer products at higher cost.    This ultimately decreases firearm ownership and interest, and successfully degrades the second amendment.
  5. Absolutely agree with 300winmag.     Decriminalize "carry past posting", and rephrase first offense as trespass misdemeanor offense, should be the goal of every CCP holder.  Model on the Missouri law or several other similar state laws.   Is there any state legislator out there willing to advance this cause?  Has this ever been really attempted since the CCP law was written?
  6. I went to Kroger. com   Find the customer comments under customer service and send them an email indicating you appreciate their decision to honor local state laws as applicable to their individual stores.   I sent an email stating we are long time customers, and appreciate that they recognize that the decision of the individual states where their stores are located to allow citizen carry.  Further that they are correct in rejecting pressure from outside political groups that do not reflect the clear intent of the people of the state that have enacted constitutional or permitted carry in the many states where their stores are located.   We should all inundate Kroger with kudos for basically stating "we will follow state law".
  7. They better price match because the prices I saw a few weeks ago were significantly greater than local gun shops.  I think they are looking for the casual off the street gun purchaser or impulse buyer while in there buying something else.  I mentioned to one of the guys behind the counter that the prices were in general somewhat elevated, and he just shook his head yes, of course said nothing.     You can get a better deal at multiple local gun shops on routine pricing.  Not to mention the internet.
  8. Decided to let gunsmith have a look, will post results when he gets to it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for the replies. I will check and carefully clean the extractor and cylinder star, but at the start the revolver was "gun sale" clean, so if debris or fouling is the cause then I was either very unlucky (never had that happen after only 3-4 rounds with any other revolver), there is a subtle timing issue creating debris I did not notice, or the design is somehow prone to fouling. What would cause factory ammo primers to "back out" in this situation? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I have a mid 70's nickel Detective special, purchased used as my first Colt revolver. No personal knowledge of history but actually showed it to a gunsmith after purchase who agreed revolver looked in great shape, seems little used. On my first trip to actually fire the gun, using several different brands of factory regular 38 special ammo, I experienced repetitive binding of the cylinder and action after firing 2-3 rounds. The gun dry fires all cylinders without any noticeable hangup or difficulty. It "fires" and rotates all 6 cylinders with snap caps in place. I cannot reproduce the issue with snap caps. However with real ammo, after the 2nd shot the trigger almost freezes and is impossible to pull back more than about 1/4 normal, and the hammer retracts only a small amount. If I open the cylinder and close back I can fire one or two more rounds only and again it binds. If I place only 3 rounds equally spaced in the cylinder with an empty in between, the cylinder rotates normally and trigger functions without hanging up. No evidence of bullet pull. The cylinder can be opened and closed easily even when the trigger hangs up. Any ideas regarding this strange scenario?   Anyone know a good true "colt savvy" gunsmith in the Franklin area?
  11. Below is a link to a petition for your consideration; http://www.change.org/petitions/john...ful-gun-owners The Moms Demand group is currently pushing the Target Department stores to prohibit firearms on their premises. Tom has created a petition to let Target hear from us.
  12. I agree with musicman... I have several j/k/l frames and I have and shoot a ruger lcr 357. And multiple small 380/9 mm semi autos. IF you want a revolver for carry I find the trigger and overall utility of the smith j frames to be superior to the ruger. Actually I use my ruger to improve my trigger pull and trigger discipline. As noted by others it is really easy to short stroke this trigger, especially if you are shooting at the same time as semi-autos. On the other hand the light j frames are an handful, but personally I find the trigger much more predictable. I think a ruger lcr would work fine if you practice dry fire with snap caps and understand the limits to the trigger pull and long reset. And as long as you are happy with any 5 shot option whether it is a smith, ruger, or other revolver. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. "These are on the list to research if I should continue to look: Khar MK9 CM9 Kel-Tec PF 9 Really on the short list is the Khar PM9."   I tried the sig 939 and was disappointed in the sharp and stiff trigger, but I had one of the early models.  Mainly I decided for a pocket size carry gun I did not like the cocked and locked approach, because for a small carry gun, I want the option of pocket carry.   I don't know how to completely square your sentence quoted above with your earlier statement that your preferred option should have a safety.  However if you can adjust to a striker fired gun without a safety, you really should rent and try a 100 rounds through the PM9.  After a few rounds to adjust to the long, but smooth trigger, you will know if the Kahr trigger is for you.   I switched to Kahr 380 and PM9 for my pocket gun options, and love them both.  The PM9 is great IWB and can double as a pocket gun in some situations.  I agree with Hickock's statement in the video linked above.  I leave the 1911 manual of arms to my full size pistols.

    Walther PPQ 5"

Not really, I'm sure it was at or above msrp given that it was FGS!  The barrel of course looks prominent as expected, so it immediately caught my eye as an "unusual PPQ".   Once I saw it was a 40, I moved on. He did say he expected 9mm version soon.

  16. I have an early FDE GEN 4 19 that did not include the beaver tail blackstrap option. The early Gen 4 glocks did not come with the beaver tail back straps, nor with the little peg at the back where the interchangeable grip snaps in, that stabilizes the beaver tail blackstrap. So the early gen 4 will accept the beaver tail strap included with later models but it will not be adequately stable in my opinion. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Walther PPQ 5"

FGS in Franklin had a 40 cal version about 2 weeks ago. No 9 though. As a PPQ m1 owner I am anxious to see the 9mm version as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18.   I am not going to waste a lot of time trying to defend any one gun shop or their prices.  As others state, I for one, have no idea of their EXACT margins.  You don't know if 54.99 is break even or a loss on a bad idea that seems to have generated a lot of bad press.  For those of you that state "oh I find it for 5-6 cents all the time, you live a charmed life I guess.  TODAY before my original post I stopped by WM and Academy in Cool Springs.  The WM clerk said "we haven't had 22 in 3 weeks".  The Academy guy just laughed when I asked him.  So I guess if I didn't have a job, and could camp at over at WM at 4 AM for 22, maybe eventually I would get some.  I check gun bot all the time and it is very rare to find any under 10cent/round and you that say you do find it, must be running the site in real time with an alarm to warn you of the price, because every time I see that price it is sold out.  I can't sit by the computer for hours waiting for 22lr at 6cents to "break".   I am as frustrated as you all.      I know that...compared to other stores in Nashville... on almost EVERYTHING ELSE...EW is competitive and they want to please their customer.  Maybe they piss everyone else off, but I have been in the store, unlike many of you that seem to be judging them from all parts of TN, and SEEN them try to make deals and make people happy customers.  They also re opened a range in Franklin, when other players in the area passed.  They are trying to grow the gun culture and that is a good thing for all of us that realize that the 2nd amendment needs support from all walks of life right now.    It on YOU to be a smart consumer...for example right now I am looking at a CX4 carbine.  One of the other gun stores I mentioned in my first post, lets say "Gun Shop A" has 2, each 900+ ( I can't recall the exact amount, because I found the price so absurd).  "Big Box Store B",  has the same carbine for around 750 right now.  "Online store C",  has a deal for around 660 plus free shipping.  Even though I live in Williamson County, believe it or not, I will buy from "Online Store C" on this one if I decide to purchase one.   Guess I should start a post about what horrible gougers Gun Shop A and Big Box B are, because originally CX4 were 500-600 or something, and only the online store has a current fair price.  No one should ever buy anything from the other two stores because they have the audacity to price the same item for more.  If the online deal is gone, and someone really needs a CX4 for a graduation gift or something, maybe they would buy from Big Box B.  Most likely NO ONE will buy from Gun Store A at 900+, and eventually the market will take its toll on that store, or they will find enough people willing to pay the premium in their store for whatever else they bring to the sale.  Free market that we should all believe in.   Finally to say that a store should just on principal refuse to resell ammo at prices above some historic level is like saying every gas station should refuse to sell gas when it gets above $2.99/gal or something.  I guess the gas station should shut down, and refuse to pass on that onerous gouging gas price of $3.50/gallon right?  NO what happens is you can refuse to buy it if you can get by.  But the gas station IS going to sell some gas to someone for $3.50/gallon, they are not going to lock the pumps and wait for crude prices to drop to some previous level.  I drive all around middle TN and realize I get "gouged" every day if I buy gas in Williamson County, it is frequently 20+cents more than in Lebanon or Hendersonville.  Guess I should boycott all the gas stations in Williamson county, regardless of whether I run out of gas or not.  Sometimes I have to buy gas at home.   Anyway no one is going to change any minds here I guess.  Looks like the little 22lr round is about the most emotional round going.    I have been treated well as a customer at EW, and I was just tired of a lot of people on this forum judging them on this issue alone.  I think they deserve better, and I will continue to include them in my list of gun shops to support.  Clearly some of you will not, and I guess the market will judge.  That's the way it should work.
  19. 1) this store is trying to provide some much needed competition to the firearms community in Brentwood and Franklin. You guys out in the state can bad mouth us as rich snobs, but most of us like to watch how we spend our money like everyone else. 2) if you actually go in the store and look at the prices of ALL the merchandise including guns and ammo EW is competitive or beats other major players in the Nashville market. They are not perfect, they have had "growing pains" as a new business, but again they have offered much needed competition to the local market. 3) I personally asked the owner about the pricing on this 22 ammo. I believe him when he states his markup is no more or less than a lot of his other ammo. You can castigate him for paying too much, making a bad decision, not deciding to sell for a loss etc etc if you like...but I think you should realize he personally is NOT gouging. If you look on gunbot 22 ammo is posted all day long at 16-17 cents/ round. So it sucks, and right now everyone is a loser, but EW tried to provide a product at the current market price. They may take a bath on it, I don't know...but I think this vendetta to make them out as worse than all the old retirees reselling, or the internet sharks is misplaced. 4) franklin and Brentwood NEED 2nd amendment friendly businesses that EXPAND the importance of our 2nd amendment rights to a portion of our community that otherwise has ignored these issues. Look at their business as a whole instead of damning them on a difficult 22lr market that I don't see ANYONE doing too well at right now. 5). I don't work there. I am a customer that buys from EVERY gun shop in the Nashville area. In the past year I have purchased from G&L, DT, Nash Armory, Franklin GS, EW, and others. I have seen each of these stores "overprice" things, no one is immune. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Across from old post office near 5 points. Manager did say she would discuss my concerns with owners. I plan on checking back in a week or so just to see if anything changes...the food is good...but really I have had enough of the nanny state permeating every facet of life.
  21. Stopped by "frothy monkey" in Franklin for breakfast and coffee. Free wireless however with any website related to guns or weapons such as this forum "blocked by system administrator" Interesting they do not block violent gaming websites or websites related to alcohol etc. Their system, their dime, so they can set it up any way they want...but I told them they lost a customer and would spread the word.
  22. You don't need a sponsor right now for the 300 lifetime membership deal.  All you need is patience, time, and willingness to charge $300.  They are swamped with calls.   Like others I waited 30+ minutes two times and gave up, finally yesterday after a 20 minute wait I got an operator and upgraded.  Once she answered all she needed was my member number and my credit card...upgraded to life membership status in about 3 minutes.
