why would you worry about cast ammo? The barrel has traditional rifling so no problems there...though the weight of the gun does make for quite an impact with the strong stuff ;-D I used to have one myself. For its size accuracy is very good.

i have the TRS...it can be had on amazon right now for $70.00 Get it...its awesome...I have probably put over 500rds through my 9mm ar with no issues or loss of zero...for the money I really don't think there is anything better.

Seems like I read somewhere s&w started using cheaper steel in their barrels and de mil spec'd something else any truth or just rumor?

686's are great, but they are expensive...there's no such thing as a cheap 4" 686 unless you run across someone who doesn't know what they have...if you are buying it to use and abuse get a lock model because the lock can be removed if your worried about it and it will save you money.
