If the NFA was lifted and deemed Unlawfull tomorrow
charlessummers replied to plank white's topic in General Chat
1. Thompson, just like grandads. 2. BAR, just like Clydes. 3. Glock 18 - just like FPS Russias 4. AA-12, cause why the hell not? -
I found some cheap 9mm last night online (in stock) at Cabelas. Never tried the brand before, but figured it was cheap enough to get me through. Ordered 10 boxes which the invoice said should be arrive on the 23rd of January. I was hoping to find some .22 cal too, but no luck.

I was thinking the same thing... hopefully the pawn shops will be able to stock up on some nice lightly used/unused firearms.

You got an extra 5K laying around? How about this! http://www.armslist.com/posts/863750/nashville-tennessee-rifles-for-sale--custom-ar-15

When will the stores be restocked??? Obama didn't say anything about any limits on ammo, so let's restock the shelves! I understand there are prople waiting for more, but since there is no need to hoard... I need ammo! I just want to go shooting again. My trigger finger is getting REAL itchy!

What's the difference between universal background checks and requiring voters to have a photo id? Aren't both a burdon?
-
My thoughts on this is: I'm all for making sure that my firearms end up in the right hands if I decide to sell one or two. I do not like the idea of having to go through a FFL for each and every sale since the transfer fees can get out of control unless regulated, and who needs more regulations? What I would like to see is in these days of instant information is a website that people can go to and perform a "background check" instantanously. This background check would of course require that both parties are present, both providing a person identifier (SSN?), and the only result that are returned are "Approved" or "Denied". No personal reasons for the denial, just a yes/no flag. With the tecchnology that we have today, I do not see how this wouldn't be possible. It would give peace of mind to the seller, and if the buyer has nothing to worry about, both parties can be happily on their way in a matter of minutes. Of course, there should be an app for that for all the smartphones.

So what does D&T charge for transfers? I'd rather actually buy the gun from someone... but local pickings are a little slim.

There were signs outside the door saying the place was Available... When you say they moved across the street... aren't they the building on the right as you go away from Nashville? That's where I stopped. It was right next to a used car lot...like that helps.

I've never had a problem before... but I was thinking about this. Say you find your favorite firearm online and want to buy it, having it delivered of course to your FFL. You pay for the gun, it get's shipped, you go through the TICS and find yourself rejected? You've already purchased the gun, the FFL can't give it to you and can't keep it... what happens then?

Finally got a chance to go to Bellshire Hardware today to see about getting a transfer done... and their business is CLOSED! Does anyone know if they're still in business at another location or did they call it quits?

Ok, I'm usually on the "where have you been" side of things like this, but this is the first I've heard of it... and maybe there's someone else out there that hasn't heard of this either. http://us.glock.com/customer-service/recoil-spring-exchange I called them today about my G17 and they're sending out another spring assembly within the week. I also asked about my new G26 spring which isn't included in this voluntary recall... but is not allowing the slide to go 100% forward without a little help (only sometime) and they're replacing it free of charge too. They didn't even ask for the serial number of that one... just told me that they'd include one in the box with the other. Thanks Glock! I'm glad to see there are companies out there that still offer customer service. I usually spread the word when I find them...

I'm in for a grand... just need 98 more contributions and we can make it happen. Should I go ahead and reserve my week? -
Need to buy more for the pistols that don't fire without the mags in place.... I hate those. But, I've got some and as soon as this craze is over with, I'll have to find some more. As far as the others, I only have the 3 that came with each Glock, the usual 2 that come with the Rugers, (excluding the LC9 and LCP) and I think 8 for the AR. The Ruger 10/22 has plenty including a 30 rd'er, the Marlin 60 is a tube fed, and the shotgun is a single shot. I'm with Caster here... I'm not going to last too long in a gun fight that lasts over 2 minutes. Hopefully it'll only be seconds. Being an old, fat man is hard. :surrender:

There is plenty of .40 caliber ammo in Nashville... any particular reason? Is this just not a popular caliber?

I don't find that I've needed to increase my pants size to carry IWB. I usually carry a pretty thin LC9 in a Theis Holster though... I forget it's there most of the time. Lately I've purchased a Glock 26 and tried carrying it in a DeSantis Intruder IWB holster, and while I can still wear it in the same pants, it's not as comfortable as the LC9/Theis Holster. I too have been playing with OWB holsters and I prefer it that way. I believe with the Glocks... it's the only way to travel. Even with my little .38 spl S&W j-frame. Haven't found a IWB holster I like for it yet... but there are plenty of pancake styles that disappear under a t-shirt.

Wanting (maybe needing) to start reloading...
charlessummers replied to charlessummers's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If the lack of ANYTHING at Bass Pro Shops is a sign of the times... we better get busy reloading. Luckily I've saved a lot of brass! There were the usual "wanderers" who didn't know what they were looking at or even where they were... families that would walk in front of you and stop, everyone looking around in different directions not knowing which way to go or even acknowledge that someone was there waiting for them to move their asses. (Zombies?) Then there were the ones that we standing there waiting for the (Zombies?) to move, and picking through every box of ammo to see if there were any hidden treasures buried behind the not-so-popular calibers of ammo. The gun counter was crowded, but I wasn't really looking for guns, although I've thought about picking up a HD shotgun lately, especially since shells are still widely available. The reloading area was a disaster, finding only a couple of multi-stage (?) reloading kits in the $400 range. There was one book there, and I was only able to get to it after asking the man and his three kids to "please move or hand me that book". He was apparently waiting for his wife to go back to the front of the store to get a shopping cart and using that shelf to hold all of his items until she returned. IOW: It was a mad house. I made it out alive, escaping only with a Blackhawk holster for my new G26. I can only image that the gun shows in January are going to be as bad... I think I'm going to check Craigslist. lol -

Going to BPS today to see what they have. Probably just pick up a manual first to read a little... and MAYBE decide if I want to go to one, or both of the gun shows next month to shop for some supplies. I'm hoping to find someone there that can "hold my hand" during my first purchase to show me what I need and don't need. I appreciate everyones responses... -

I was thinking that I'd start out with 9mm and .38 special. I've already collected a ton of my old brass from those calibers thinking that one day I'd pickup the "hobby". -
I don't know where to begin, but I'm assuming that there is a wealth of info available. I'll get to that later today. My question is, is reloading supplies drying up and the prices being over inflated during this scare as firearms and ammo seem to be? I want to learn reloading, but if I'm going to buy at premium prices for a half decent set of tools, then maybe I'll wait until the scare has worn off a little. My main reason for reloading is, I need a hobby... other than shooting, and hoping that it'll same me a little money. As it is now, I'm scared to shoot up any of my stock, as I'm getting afraid that I can't replace it. Bill Goodmans and the RK shows come back next month and I've pretty much decided that there's no reason to go this time since prices will be crazy! But, if reloading supply prices are still stable, I may go to see, learn, and most likely buy a press, scales, etc.
