Colorado apartment complex bans guns
charlessummers replied to c.a.willard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I guess I better not say where I work, but our House Rules state that: "Neither tenants, nor their guest may use or possess firearms, bow and arrows, or fireworks on the premises at any time." We are HUD Housing for Seniors, and there have been guns confiscated from residents. I got a call one day from a lady who wanted me to come up to her apartment and "get this gun out of here before I throw it in the dumpster", as my voice mail put it. Luckily I was able to call her back adn tell her I was on my way and NOT TO THROW IT IN THE DUMPSTER! She was a known alcoholic and her husband had Alzheimers. Neither one of them were mentally responsible enough to own or possess a firearm. When I got to the apartment it was still on on the shelf in the closet, although fully loaded with the safety off. I immediately emptied the gun and brought it back to my office where it stayed until the residents moved out. (I was told to keep the gun, by the way. Woo Hoo Lorcin .380!) I'm not a fan of this rule... but given the mentality of our aging residents, I can accept it. I have another story of a guy that rode around with a pistol in his powered wheelchair that doens't end well, but I'll save that one for later. I do know of resident that still have firearms in their apartments too... but keep that to myself. For instance, there are a few WWII/Korean War Vets here with "bring back" weapons that I would LOVE to own. Thankfully, that trust me enough that I have gotten to hold them from time to time... Meanwhile... the House Rules nor the Employee handbook says anything about employees possessing firearms. :stunned: -
Has anyone been to Gun City USA in Nashville?
charlessummers replied to Jesse's topic in General Chat
Last time I was there it was a dump... but that was when they still sold firearms. My choice is Nashville Armory, Gun and Leather, or Academy of Self Protections. I live about 10 minutes from Gun City... but prefer the others. Hopefully someone else has been there recently and can say otherwise. -
GSM National Park recommends you "stand your ground"

Great... now I'm scared of bears. Fight back aggressively? Really?? Is that all the advise you can give me? lol -
My carry ammo is Hornady Critical Defense. I think it's 110gr, but I could be thinking about the .38spl. Edit: Took a trip down to the vault... it's 125gr.

Seems like everyone has pretty much summed up what Hickok45 says in this video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BOMmIvMRm8 My vote would be the Glock as well, but I don't have a 92FS, so take that for what it's worth.

How do you hide gun/or accy purchases from the wife or GF?
charlessummers replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
After buying three or four... she doens't notice any of the new ones. They're either the black one or the shiny one. Other than that... she doesn't really care. She know how to open the safe, although I don't think she ever does... and everything I own is in there, so even though I don't tell her everything, I aint hiding nothing. :pleased: -
HUD's new fair housing regulation

Cool... now I can quit my job and move to Brentwood! -
Dude... that crap hurts! I'm so sorry for you going through this twice! I picked up a mild case of this on the right side of my torso and though I was going to die before it finally cleared up. I can't imagine having that on my head... twice! Good luck man...

^ This... I went there once. Attitudes were bad, egos were high!

Thanks... I'll not worry with it then. The rattle isn't a problem from what I heard... suppose to be the hammer block (thinggy) I think. It's a great little pistol, but I think I'm going to stick with .38spl when I'm poking holes in paper. My son (14) wants to shoot it with the 158gr. magnum loads... but I'm betting he'll change his mind after a few. Thanks again!

I posted the following on the Ruger Forums, but they weren't much help. One other guy said his was doing the same... but he too wasn't sure if it was right. I know there were a few LCR owners here... did you have the same experience? I just purchased a brand new KLCR .357 Magnum a week or so ago and fired about 25 rounds through it (158gr jsp). It's a beast, to put it lightly... but I really like this little pistol. The issue that I'm having with it is... and it may be normal, but when you press the trigger, and I mean ever so slightly, the cylinder stop will drop down far enough so that the cyllinder is able to be turned by hand. Not completely around, but you can definately twist it back and forth. No other revolver that I own will do this (S&W J-Frame, GP-100, S&W Model 10-6). Somehow I don't think this is right, but I wanted to hear from other LCR owners out there to see if this was a normal thing for this particular revolver. I'm tempted to call Ruger... but... Thanks in advance! Charles

Very well said... If you want to be judged by the conduct of your character... act like it.

Guns and ammo in cars

Y'all are assuming that I leave my Glock in the car... :yuck: . Usually it's a S&W j-frame, fyi! :usa: -
Nashville Armory gets more of my money.
charlessummers replied to TrickyNicky's topic in Show and Tell
Nice indeed... I'm going to have to stay away from there now that they're stocked up. Last weekend I noticed that they had the LCR .357mag in stock and couldn't leave without it. -
I kinda did a quick search to see if this has been beaten to death already, but did't come up with anything. However, I know I'm not the only one wondering this since the July 1 law... How safe is it to leave a handgun/ammo in a hot car? Does the heat affect the ammo? I moved my Bianchi speed clip the other day and the bullets were HOT! Kinda makes me want to rethink leaving them in there.

They should release it immediately... but we all know that won't happen. I'd expect to see on one of the gun auction site once he does get it back though. lol -

The most stupid movie-firearms mistake i've ever seen.

Watching reruns of The Walking Dead last night, Andrea slings her pistol back towards Rick (when she was leaning over her dead sister) and manages to rack the slide with one hand. Actually, she hadn't racked it... but you sure heard it. At least she knew the safety was off that time... lol -
Can someone review my 9mm loads?
charlessummers replied to brent_strong's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
5.5gr of Unique with a 115gr fmj is what I came up with. Doesn't seem too hot or too mind, and I can't tell them apart from factory loads. OAL was 1.125". Just for punching holes in paper... -
Plenty of Civil War Battlefields if you're into that. There are also a lot of State Parks that are worth revisiting.
