On the contrary, I don't think the Glocks are ugly at all. Especially when sitting beside the Hi-Power C9! lol Congrats on your purchase. For your holster purchase, look at the Theisholsters.com ones. They look pretty much like the Crossbreeds which I have no experience with, but my Theisholster is more comfortable that I expected, and was a little cheaper.

Walmart has all the target ammo I've ever needed, although at times it was hard to find .38 special. I stopped by the Rivergate Wally world last weekend and resupplied. Bass Pro Shops ships ammo, which is where I picked up my Hornady Self Defense for my .380 LCP. You just need to buy enough to make the shipping charges worth it...

I've got this nice little wooden cabinet for my rifles/shotguns/pellet rifles, but nowhere or no-how other than my little Sentry safe to store my pistols. I've considered buying a gun safe, but really don't want some large safe sitting around in my den and closet space is at a premium around here... so what are my options? I've seen the little racks, but they either wont fit the safe or are not secure sitting out exposed.

Is there a life expectancy of ammo? Is there particular way that someone would need to store 1000's of rounds of ammo if they don't plan on using it all up within a year or so? I'd hate to buy a couple thousand rounds of .38, then find out they've gone bad before going through all of them.

We use ADT at work for our fire system and have had no problems with them. However, my neighbor used ADT for their home security, and once while they were away on vacation I had to enter their house to secure some packages that were left on the porch. (They gave me a key to do so...) They did, however, forget to let me know they had an alarm. In the time that I tripped the alarm, walked back to my house to call them to get the alarm code and walk back to disarm the alarm, I waited for the phone call from ADT asking me for the passcode. No call ever came, so I called them to confirm that they received the signal. The lady on the phone told me that I had disarmed the system within their time frame so they disregarded the signal. The alarm was activated for at least 5 minutes! Homesafe, the alarm company that we used at the time, always called immediately! They dropped ADT as soon as they heard what happened.

If I shot in my backyard, then you'd be reading about it in the newspaper! I reiterate mikegideons reply... Luck dawg!

My son and I are meeting up with my brother in law at Academy of Self Protection today about noon. I took my HCP class there and have shot once more afterward at their range. It reminds me a lot of Gun City without the low overhead ceiling and without the bullets flying around... but I like it there. We also went last time to the Hendersonville Guns and Leather, which we also liked, only there were more people there. I haven't been to Gun City in a LONG time, so if they've made any improvements I'd like to know. I can be there anyday within 5 minutes. Where do you guys normally shoot?

Well this aint gonna work...

Jab... I've got a Fobus on order through Amazon for the LCP, if and when it ever arrives. I think they're having to make them to order or something because I ordered it over two weeks ago. But I digress... I've bought a Fobus for everything I own because of when I go to the range, I can secure it from my son accidently picking it up. However, I do use the Fobus with my LC9 when I can cover it with a large shirt. Luckily the weather is cool now and I can do that. Kirk... I like the looks of those wallet holsters. -

My IWB holster for the LC9 is shipping tomorrow... can't wait to get it and carry that one full time. I agree about carrying the LCP IWB... just doesn't seem right. I'm going to check out those other links though. OhShoot... I'm going to try to switch pockets to see how that works. Just can't wait to pull it out at a convienant store thinking it's my wallet though. That's going to take some " 'splainin to do Lucy!" StrickJ... As far as my ass... trust me, there is a lot of cushion already there, and I aint wanting to gain back the 49 pounds that I've already lost this year! -
The other day I reached for my LCP that I keep in my left rear pocket, in a pocket holster, and the magazine was detached. I thought maybe this was because if the car I was in and just sat down wrong or something, but tonight while we were out eating, the magazine had released itself three other times. So now I need to reconsider sitting on my LCP. I don't like it in the front pocket... so I guess I'm going to have to go IWB holstered. Anyone have a resolve for the magazine releasing? I checked the gun and it's just my fat behind making it release...

Cops: Walmart shopper concealed 111 items
charlessummers replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
That's a much better option than sending her to jail, costing us more money to jail her plus price increases at the stores. -
Wow... glad I didn't visit this place pre: New Owners. I dropped by Nashville Sporting Arms in July since they are extremely close to work one afternoon on my lunch break before I purchased my LC9. There was a lady behind the counter that greeted me, then another guy that came from the back of the store and showed me several different gun (mostly Glocks) and even took the time to show me several different holsters and accessories. I didn't buy anything that day and thanked him for his time and attention. Both people at the store treated me very well. The prices that I was quoted was a little higher than I can find online, but I understand that they have a brick-and-mortar store to operate. Still, the ability to actually talk to someone and see what you're buying before the sale is worth the extra $10-$20 more. So is customer service. I haven't been back there since that day, but based on the posts here... I think I'll go get to know these guys a little better.

I'm still too new to have decided on what I'm going to do on a regular basis... but as of right now my LCP rides in my rear left pocket in a pocket holster. I'd wear it on the right, but I have to have my wallet there (old habit/OCD thing). Hopefully, IWB holster that's in route via usps will allow me to carry my LC9 right side, and on a regular basis. The LCP is really small enough to carry anywhere, so it'll probably be with me too.

Did my Wally Walk tonight....
charlessummers replied to charlessummers's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Carrying a Ruger LC9 and LCP. I figured I'd break both of in with the same trip. The LCP is in a pocket holster in my back pocket, and the LC9 is in a cheap IWB thing. No bells or whistles... just another day a Wally World. Surprised me to see that they have removed all of their long guns from the store... I was wanting to check our a 10/22, cause I found a really cool Thompson kit for one. Guess I'll see if I can find a used on somewhere first. -
Made all the rounds and bought a movie a classic Clint Eastwood DVD "Pale Rider", and stocked up on my ammo buying 1 50rd box of 9mm FMJ's, a 100rd box of .38 Specials, and resupplied my son with .22 ammo with a 550rd box. Got in a conversation with a guy about 9mm vs .40cal while waiting to checkout. That helped pass the time waiting for the cashier to do his job. I tried not to tug my shirt or reach back to make sure the gun wasn't falling out and basically just tried to forget it was back there. Of course, no one noticed it... which I knew they wouldn't. I will feel much more confident once my holster arrives. I ordered one from TheisHolsters and it shows that it shipped on the 30th. It'll probably be in the mail at work tomorrow.

Please don't let my son see that! ^ LOL

If I were to go today to purchase another gun, I can be in and out of the store within the hour with it in my hands. The carry permit background check took at least a week, I'm assuming since it took 17 days to arrive. I'm not complaining about neither... but was wondering... Do they do the same checks? If not, wouldn't it make sense to do the more stringent background check when buying a gun? I remember having to do the waiting, or cooling off period, years ago... and I'm glad we're past that, but what's the difference in the background checks?
