  1. They're squished on sight at my house!
  2. Wow... I have more flashlights than I know what to do with, but I recently bought myself another 2 cell AA LED light and that sucker is bright! For some reason while at Lowes the other day, I saw the Maglite Xl50 and I had to have it. I think it was about $30.00 and suppose to put out 104 Lumens. It's suppose to last about 9 hours on high, and 36 hours on low. Both of these new ones have the flashing strobe, but the 2 cell AA also has the flashing SOS strobe. Pretty cool if you get lost out in the dark woods I guess. Flashlight junkie? Me?? No...
  3. I tried some in a bar on Okeechobee back in 04... can yuck! They were without the shells, so maybe I wasn't doing it right? Just not my thing I guess. Roasted peanuts now, YUM!
  4. The only thing I know about this gun is that I want one... However, the people at rugerforums.com say they're bad about light-striking, but Ruger of course will take care if that. Although I wouldn't try to talk my friend out of sending me a gun to play with, I'd recommend he check for himself the laws and regs for Mass. Also, good luck with your handgun class. It's pretty easy if you've ever seen a gun before. I used a Glock 17 that was provided by the class and placed all but 7 rounds in the center of the target. The others were just outside. I think there are only 50 questions, and you can use your notes.
  5. Even for a Monday... all is still well here.
  6. You can't seem them cause his son shot them all up! Congrats to your son... and to his father!
  7. That's cool Mike! How old is your grandson?
  8. With my new Ruger Mark III and 10/22 in tow, along with the Beretta Neos .22, my son, daughter and I headed out to ASP range to A: Teach my daughter to shoot, B: Try out the new guns, and C: Empty the .22 ammo stock from my gun cabinet. My son is an old pro at this now at the age of 12, but my daughter (16) has never shot anything until today. Not even a pellet rifle! My son had his own lane and my daughter and I shared a lane. We began with the basics of how to get the sight picture, how to handle the gun safely, and how to load and unload. After those lessons, she fired her first shot with the Ruger. It was right on target, but we were only out to the 3 yard mark. When she was confident with shooting at that distance, I moved the target out to the 7 yard mark and left it there. She was consistantly hitting the target from there and even began to out-shoot her brother! As far as the Ruger, we put over 500 rounds through it today and only had one failure to fire, which was clearly the ammos fault as it was hit correctly and had the markls to prove it, and only had one stove pipe. Not sure where to place that blame. The 10/22 was failure free! Both of the Rugers did amazing! The Beretta Neos, with over 500 rounds through it today had 0 issues! No feeding, ejecting, or firing problems at all! I'm proud of my kids and glad that they had fun... I have a feeling that my daughter will want to go along next time too.
  9. Come on down!
  10. My 16 year old daughter got in trouble last weekend, and part of her punishment is she has to go with me and my son to the range tomorrow! Actually, she's kind of excited about it... so it's not really punishment. Since my last trip to the range, I've purchased a 10/22 and a Mark III, so with her coming I'm going to stick with these and the Baretta Neos. Of course, I'll have my carry weapon (LC9) and hope that she will shoot it at least once. She tells me she isn't scared of anything... but we'll see. I personally can't wait to shoot the two new ones... I've regretted selling my old stainless Mark II ever since I did.
  11. Check the pawn shops Will... that's where I picked mine up. Don't be afrais to haggle either.
  12. Mine has eaten over 10,000 mixed rounds and still shoots like a champ! I can only hope that my 10/22 can do the same. How's your wife like it?
  13. My next one is the SR9c... just don't tell my wife.
  14. Looking at the firing hammer assembly... I would hope that it was obvious that you really shouldn't mess with taking that thing apart. I never have. I usually just clean that with a Q-Tip, solvent, and an air compressor. I can't get Adobe Reader to download on this new laptop for some reason (slow hotel connection?), but I don't think that Marlin recommends doing much more in the product manual.
  15. Is there a problem with taking these apart and cleaning? My pre-85 Marlin comes apart very easy for cleaning and is sweet as honey! Accuracy is incredible too! My trigger guard has cracked near the rear screw due to age and I probably need to get that replaced, but it's available online for a good price. This is my #1 most favorite gun... and I'm bringing my 16 year old daughter with us to the range this weekend so she can shoot it for the first time. I need to find an open field to really enjoy this one... I know the OP's wife enjoys hers. That's a good price for a nice little rifle.

    Mk III

I bought Jollydogg's MarkIII yesterday and it was a nice replacement for the one that I sold years ago. Always regretted that sale, but I guess that's ok. I know that Ruger packs their guns with a too heavy of an oil/grease from the factory, so last night when I was sure that I would have no disruptions, I proceeded to dissassemble the gun, clean, oil, and reassemble it. Man! How I had forgotten how difficult this little job could be! I've got a couple of new holes in my fingers; one of which is from the very sharp sight on the muzzle! Thank goodness for YouTube for their help in reassembling! The manual is pretty clear, but it helps to actually see what's suppose to happen. (I thought I could do it from memory, but it seems that over the past 25 years... I must have forgotten something. ) It's a nice little pistol and I can't wait to get out to shoot it.
  17. I guess my last long gun purchase was in the 80's or early 90's. I can recall a Marlin 30-30 lever gun and my favorite Marlin Model 60 .22. This is all making me feel a little old!
  18. This afternoon when I bought my new 10/22, I had to fill out the background check info and pay my $10.00. I don't remember having to do that before when buying a long gun, but then again that was many years ago since I bought one... Has the age minimun changed too? Did I need the BG check at all?

    new ar

Sweet! The guys at Guns for America got me thinking I need one of these!
  20. My son and I went out to shoot at ASP this afternoon but only had about an hour to shoot as they were conducting a class... so with time to kill we cruised over to Guns for America to look around. (Hard to find that place!) Upon leaving there, we stopped at Cash America Pawn just for kicks, but on their shelves they had two Ruger 10/22's! The prices were a little high and dude checked out the new prices at Academy and seen that I was right... so I was able to get a much better price than he had listed. Looking at this, it's very obvious that this gun has never been fired! Not a scratch on the stock, not a bit of residue inside. What made the deal even better was the original lock, scope mount and screws, and the gun case that I wasn't aware of was included in the price. Luckily too, it's the carbine length that I was wanting for my Thompson kit conversion. Now just gotta save a little bit for that. I'm sure that I'll enjoy this little rifle as-is until that arrives.
  21. Extremely cool thing you've done here Dolomite! Congrats to the winners!
  22. Cool... guess I'll have to bring my son too! I doubt that I'll get out of the house without him once he hears the words "machine gun"! Atta boy!
  23. Any of you guys ever attended one of these? Machine Gun Shoot | Knob Creek Gun Range Machine Gun Shoot | Famous Machine Gun Shoot | Knob Creek Gun Range One of my contractors invited me to go up there with him next month, but I'll be in Atlanta until the 14th that week... and was wondering if it was really worth driving a few more hours on the trip home to be there. Sounds fun, as I've never shot a machine gun before...
  24. Download link? I tried to like BF2: Bad Company but couldn't. I'm a Call of Duty guy from waaayyyy back. Love it! Steam: GenTibbets
