So I took the Hangun Carry Permit Class.....
charlessummers replied to Newman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Smells like some place on Murfreesboro Road... maybe in the vicinity of Fesslers Ln/Polk Ave? -
I didn't trade my MKII for a MkIII... just replaced one that I had sold years ago with a MKIII. As far as all the other silly BS that the MKIII has over the MKII, none of it really matters to me. You cannot see, or feel the LCI, nor do I use it for anything other than punching holes in paper, so the magazine safety and the lock doesn't bother me in the slightest. The MKIII is a fun gun and that's all it was ever made for IMO. The MKII 22/45 is just a little bit more fun! Especially when you pick one up at a bargain price!

I'm not sure about my first one.. I think he may already be a zombie. 1. Lil Wayne 2. Eminem 3. Captain and Tenille... merely for the song, "Muskrat Love"

I think TMF is on a much better track than I was on... Exactly right about the events leading up to WWI, and the rise of power that set off WWII. Sure the first world war may have been set off anyway, but this shooting of Ferdinand is given credit for marking the beginning of the war.

There are no wrong answers here... but out of these three, and feel free to add your own, which do you think is the most historically signifigant? So, one of them is a rifle. Still... 1. The pistol that was used to kill Lincoln? 2. The pistol that Hitler used to kill himself? 3. The rifle that was used to kill Kennedy? Just wondering... as I was also wondering what happened to the pistol that Hitler shot himself with? My thinking is the pistol that Hitler killed himself with. I'll explain why later. I want to hear your opinions.

LOVE the design on those grips!

That is sweet McAllyn!

That's a heck of a lot better than the little slide down thinggy that I used with my MKII. I also remember the sore thumbs too.

No threaded barrel... but it did come with a threaded barrel adaptor. I currently have no use for it, but think I'll hang onto it for a while. I may post it in the classifieds if I decide sell it. It'll be cheap!

I replaced my long sold off Ruger MkII with a Mk III not too long ago. I had looked at the Ruger 22/45 at the time and though, "Why would anyone buy that over the Mk III?" Well, I picked up a used Ruger 22/45 at the gun show in Hendersonville last weekend for a pretty good price, and finally got a chance to take it to the range Sunday. I now know why people buy this gun! It feels really good shooting it, and in my hands... much more accurate than the more agressive angled grip of the MkIII. This little gun has probably been shot to death, but I was able to put ten rounds in a hole the size of a quarter at 7 yards with open sights. I can't do that with any of my other .22's. I know these guns were made to last forever... so the round count didn't bother me. Great little fun-gun...

Finally talked my wife into joining me at the range!

As we were leaving she said that she "had fun, but don't buy me a gun for Christmas." -
Finally talked my wife into joining me at the range!

My only concern was when she asked me, "How many did you bring?" I don't think she has any idea as to how many I own. I'd like to keep it that way, -
I had been talking to her about it all day Saturday, but when I woke up this morning I figured that I was going alone. Only thing that I'd heard from her was "I'll think about it." This morning, my daughter was babysitting two little boys and knew I was wanting to get out for awhile and asked me if I was going shooting, meaning alone. "Yup..." I said. Right before I was ready to leave she told me that she'd decided she would go too! "Won't nobody laugh at me will they?" she asked. She has NEVER shot a gun before and showed no interest before today. I promised her that no one will be paying any attention to her, but me. I wasn't going to let her do anything stupid or unsafe. I took a couple of .22 pistols to use and took only two other pistols that I hadn't had a chance to shoot yet; a S&W .357Mag, and a S&W 642 Airweight .38 special. I went over the basics of aiming, safety, loading, shooting, and unloading and handed her the SR22. She was pretty jumpy at first, especially when the guy next to us was shooting, but calmed down pretty well, fairly fast. I must be a good teacher as she did very well on her first time shooting. After watching me shoot the .38 and the .357 she said that she wanted to try them too! Congratulations dear! You made me proud today!

That doesn't make me like this one any better... but I think that a friend of mine is wanting to buy it. He was hard up for some cash the other day and sold me his S&W Model 65 for $300. I think I'll make him a good deal on this one... or at least let him hang on to it and get it out of my house.

Who does the buy back? State or City? I'll go check Metro Davidson county's website now to see if they have one going or coming up.

Ok, I was given a Lorcin L380 from an older lady that needed to get it out of her house since her husband has developed alzheimers. I took the thing home and cleaned it up, which was pretty easy considering that it hasn't had a full box of ammo through it. (Somehow it still survived, ) Anyway, I thought I would take it to the Hendersonville gun show this weekend to see if there was ANY interest at all in it, even tried to trade it in on a new gun. As I expected... noone wanted to even look at it after I told them it was a Lorcin. So, I know I'm not going to shoot it, and I don't want my son shooting it either, but I need to do something with it, but what? Any idea as to what it's worth to an honest person?

Hornady Critical Defense 9mm - Local Source?
charlessummers replied to BryanP's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Bass Pro in Opry Mills has them. I was there about a week ago and they seemed to have plenty, I bought a box of the .357 Magnums for about $21.00/ -
I'd rather see the gunbuster sign in a contrasting color to the glass/background/tinting of the window or door that it's posted on. A couple of places that I've eaten and had to return to the car to lock up my carry weapon, the signage was almost transparent. I think the airport has it about right though.

I have carry guns that I like, both semi-autos (LCP, and LC9)... but I really like relovers too, and thought that I'd like to have the LCR (or even the S&W 642). I think I'll hang onto it, take it out shooting a few times to see how she shoots. If it shoots as well as my Model 10, then I guess I'll have to keep it. Still would like to have the LCR though.

First off, sorry that I don't post very often. I like to read and enjoy much of what you guys guys discuss... Secondly, I've got a decision to make. I got a heck of a deal today on a S&W Model 65-5 .357 Magnum, which is my favorite caliber, although this is currently the only one that I now own. (caliber... not pistols) What I'm really wanting though, is an LCR in .357 Magnum. My problem is, I've got such a sweet deal on this one that I'll never be able to replace it for this price, BUT... I've never really wanted a K-frame S&W other than my S&W Model 10, in .38 Special; a gift from my dad... so it's a keeper. Would you keep this one, or consider trading it for the LCR? Thanks, Charles

My responsibilities?
charlessummers replied to charlessummers's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nice video RCLARK... while I agree my best action was to take no action, I feel lucky that things turned out the way they did. I don't know what I would have done in a different scenario, but I do know that as long as they were running away from a non-violent scene, I would have just called 911 and gave a description. Under NO circumstances would I have used tried to go for a holstered weapon as the guy in the first scene did... but I did already have my gun out (while sitting in my truck). At the time, I didn't want to be completely defenseless, even though I didn't know what, if anything, I was going to have to do. Next time, I will call 911 and hope that I'm wrong about the whole ordeal. -
My son and I usually frequent the same little mart down the street from our old house every weekend. Usually to pick up a 6-pack of beer for me and soda for him. Sunday, while we were there I noticed two guys there that were acting a little suspicious. They were separated in the store but kept looking at each other while their actions indicated that they were waiting on the other customer and myself to leave. (My son was in the truck... thankfully.) Anyway, I made my purchase that was asked to show ID for the beer. The store owner (who I was pretty familiar with) wasn't paying much attention to me and was obviously worried about the two other guys in the store, so instead of flashing my license, I showed my HCP. The store owner nodded at me and I completed my transaction and went outside. I didn't leave right away, instead played on my telephone acting like I was texting or something. The guys both went to the counter as soon as I sat down. The owner looked outside, probably thankful that I was still there. After a few more minutes, the guys finally came out, but looked at me sitting there and said, "Jesus loves you man." I said nothing and finally started my truck to leave. As I continued to watch these two guy walking away, they acted as if they didn't know which direction they wanted to walk. I drove up the street until I was out of their sight and turned around. As I drove past, they were still standing on the corner. They spotted me again, and I just waved. I turned the truck around again to finally see them walking up the hill and away from the store. I know... long story, but here's my confusion. If these guys would have robbed the store, I understand that my best interest would have been to get their description and let them go. But, if they would have assaulted the owners, either with a gun or whatever, what would my responsibility be? I was already ready to call 911 and had told my son to tell them where we were because I think I would have reacted to help save the owners.
