  1. Victim was in a small car too...no place to hide. The picture I saw looked like the Shooter fired down at a 45 deg angle . The victim said he "heard an explosion"
  2. I think he had JUST gotten into his car. Had he been armed, he would have to Draw and point through the Glass....Gunman would definitely have Fired....you'd have to shoot first. Draw and Return Fire when you've just been shot through a window (you're covered in glass) and been hit in the Neck/Shoulder area would not be an easy thing to pull off.
  3. Victim believes that his life was saved by NOT getting out of the car.
  4. Attempted Carjack...victim was sitting in his car when a gunman got out of another car. He locked the door before the gunman could open it. Wouldn't get out, gunman shot him in the shoulder through the window.                                                  July 31, 2012  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE           East Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance as they continue in their efforts to identify the gunman who wounded a man outside The Family Wash eatery and music venue at 2038 Greenwood Avenue.          The 22-year-old victim is a musician who was getting into his car at 12:30 a.m. Sunday after playing an engagement when a silver sedan with chrome rims slowly passed toward the intersection of Greenwood & Porter Avenues. A man came from the silver sedan and demanded the victim’s car. The victim did not comply, resulting in the gunman shooting him in the shoulder through the driver side window. The victim was treated and released at a local hospital.          The gunman was wearing a black hat, a red shirt with black writing and a bandana over his face.          Anyone with knowledge of the silver car and/or the gunman is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH†along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or by logging onto www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.                                                      Â
  5. I have attended two of these in Smyrna and am going to try to make it to this one too. We had great instructors and DRASTICALLY improved my Rifle technique. Manchester, TN July 28-29 Event Information Location: Arnold Air Force Base Date:Â July 28-29 Event Information Page: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=27351.0 Pre-Registration Page: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=26835.0
  6. I carry fixed blades. ESEE Izula II, Hideaway Knife, S&W HRT Double Edge, Kabar TDI all work well Horizontal Carry placed between 10-11:00. Reverse draw left hand or forward with right hand. I sometimes carry bulkier knives at 3:00-4:00 (no Pistol or pistol in bag). I have a Meyerco "Persian" that is an excellent value. Look at the Spyderco "Street Beat" if you don't mind spending a bit. It's on my list....
  7. I've had new Glock mags that would stick. Buffed them down and wiped with Armor all and they are 100% You can shake a mag out if it doesn't drop
  8. Sad to read that about Highland Park. I lived on Bailey Ave the first few years of my life. Drove through there last year...yikes.
  9. RE: cutting Leather I did mine with a fresh Exacto, a lighter and some black leather dye.
  10. Be sure to check the inside of your Slide/Chamber etc. Wipe it out and make sure it isn't full of sweat. I had an issue with a 1911 where sweat got in through the Slide Stop hole and it oxidized and looked nasty in only a couple of days. I was carrying IWB in the summer. My Glock 17 doesn't have that problem. I guess the openings on the 1911 were in just the right (wrong) place
  11. RE: Focusing on the Target instead of your Front Sight You might be able to 'get a hit' that way but you won't be able to Call Shots and you won't (likely) be able to have intelligent followup shots. I didn't come up with this on my own or anything. Just following the example of guys that can shoot FAST and still know where the rounds are going.
  12. I've had bad experiences at NRange. First time they had just opened so I went back to see if it had improved. Bad ventilation Bad lighting Target holders malfunctioned, held together with Zip ties, one fell off and hit somebody. No divides between lanes the first time. The second time they had added Burlap curtains to catch brass. It is really loud in there. Acoustic treatment would be nice. It is $15 The people working there were SUPER NICE.
  13. Greenbrier Guns and Leather is 75' In Hendersonville it is about 30' Very clean and well ventilated. You can only shoot Pistols or Rifles in Pistol Caliber or .22
  14. He did say that you should start by learning sequentially..... Be CAREFUL about prepping the trigger before you are totally on target. That sounds like a recipe for an AD to me. On the reset thing...it would be very easy to start bouncing off the trigger that way. I would say that if you start missing your followup shots, then just hold your follow through a little longer and work back tot he faster method
  15. P.S. Your eye can only focus at one place at a time. You have to train your eye a bit....look at the Target, push the sights into your Focal plane, shift focus to the front sight. It becomes easy and automatic. And again...don't just try it at the Range. Your best practice for this happens without firing. The most common problem once you have your front sight focus is to then immediately "look for the hit" on the Target RIGHT after you fire. Ruins your accuracy.
  16. Learn to use your sights. If you have to fire before you get a clean picture, then so be it... But if you are "more accurate when you don't use your sights" then there is a problem. I'm FINALLY getting comfortable with both eyes open. One benefit of shooting that way is that your vision is actually better. So if you can do it, it is nice. Dryfire practice is the way to learn it. Set up a target and doing a million reps of raising the pistol and getting a sight picture. I throw a couple of tennis balls it in my back yard and shoot them with airsoft. Raise pistol, shoot one, repeat...
  17. Ah...just read this. I was there in March and also the one last weekend. Good fun and I am improving quickly. The instructors and the facility are great there. PM me and I can give you information and some advice on how to prepare and some links of good training info.
  18. On "Top Guns" they shot it at Milk Jugs full of water. I think it only went through two maybe? But I dont know what the Bullet was...
  19. Just secure the door and use plastic storage tubs for the guns. You don't need the durability of a Pelican case. Just find some plastic containers with good seals on them
  20. Oh yeah... If you want to stock up on Mosin's.... Get a C&R License for $30 and order Rifles without an FFL.
  21. I think that getting 5 of everything doesn't make total sense. 5 sidearms (used Glock 17's are less than $400 out the door) 5 Mossberg or Maverick Shotguns (20 Ga if worried about your wife) 2 Ruger 10/22 1 Ruger MKII After the above, have 1 or 2 long range high power rifles. CMP M1 Garands with surplus ammo? Between Birdshot, Buckshot and Slugs the Shotty makes a lot of sense. More than sharing Pistol/Rifle calibers to me...
  22. TRIGGER PULL I too was 'more accurate' with 1911. My grip and trigger pull were the problem. The 1911 let me get away with it although in rapid shooting there was still a problem n the 1911. Until I got at the root of the problem, the 1911 shooting could only progress so much. I had the EXACT issue with Rifle. A rifle with little to no pretravel made me more accurate... So now I am addressing my fundamentals and will be able to shoot better on any gun. (eventually)
  23. There are plenty of things about this story you can argue about and waste a bunch of time.... BUT Zimmerman made several bonehead moves. If you are going to follow some one that you think is suspicious, call the Police and don't get out of your car. Be a 'good witness' and not a BAD DEFENDANT
  24. Ha Double Single Stack New USPSA Classification coming...
  25. There are Appleseed Shoots coming up in Smyrna and Manchester. https://www.eventbrite.com/event/3081305267?nomo=1 I'm going to the Smyrna AS
