  1. "The Judge" Here Comes the Judge! Taurus .45/410 Revolver 8-9.5lb trigger pull double action, 4-5lb pull Single Action 410 Slug. Ouch
  2. Thanks for the directions. I kept finding references to "Brush Creek" but couldn't find the direct link. Here it is for others that might be interested Volunteer Rifle & Pistol Club And I'll try to make it out there some time.
  3. Thanks! I also see that you can shoot on Saturday and/or Sunday here: NTPS Club Information
  4. I'm interested in getting into IDPA/USPSA shooting but am tied up on Saturdays for the forseeable future. Thanks
  5. I went to a Goodman show maybe four months ago. Parking was free. All the prices I saw were higher than I could get in local gun shops without even haggling. I thought maybe the stickers were high and they expected you to offer less...tried that and the dealers would just walk away. So I left and went and bought a bunch of ammo at Walmart and bought two pistols at gun shops instead.
  6. I think you should definitely use a holster that blocks the trigger guard. I've carried DAO without a covered trigger guard a lot but I don't any more. Understand the mechanics of your pistol. I carry a 1911 cocked and locked and don't worry at all. Trigger is blocked and there is a grip safety. All of the above said, "Appendix carry" still spooks me. When you sit, it is aimed at your crotch or your Femoral Artery. Yikes
  7. Definitely DO NOT try to "police" anything or anyone other than you and your family/house. Do keep your eyes open As to the original post... If people go to the trouble of getting their permit and then don't carry...they are THE LAST people that you want to be carrying.
  8. Oh...and don't get too comfortable too fast. Understand your pistol well enough so you KNOW it won't go off accidentally
  9. RE: Dryfire Follow your manufactures recommendations. I know that with Glock and 1911 you can dry fire without snap caps until your fingers fall off. With Kel-tec, something the design supposedly Will cause firing pin damage so I use snap caps with them. Practicing draw and getting a sight picture is WAY more important than going to the range and popping holes in the paper. Try doing Dryfire practice at least 3 times a week and you will improve tons.
  10. I would encourage you to take notes. If the teacher is good there will be some good info. The shooting part though....I was scared. There were people barely hitting the paper (full sized silhouette)
  11. Guns and Leather for me too. That said, I wanted to to "The Range" The Range Incorporated - Handgun Safety Training Classes For Tennessee but the schedule wasn't good for me. I plan to take advanced classes there.
  12. RE: the mall Haven't been there in ages but I remember a centrally posted sign forbidding weapons in the mall.
  13. Yes...the conventional advice is comply with wallets etc but you don't go to a secondary location under any circumstances. My 'spider senses' have gone off many times around Dragon Park/Hillsboro Village. I'm not over there much any more but parking lot muggings were pretty common around there and music row
