    P3AT?

Take a look at Tractiongrips. I used to have Hogues and switched. The Tractiongrips don't add any bulk but give a good sticky grip. They don't stick to my shirts the way Hogues do either. Not as comfortable but these subcompacts aren't range guns.
  2. RE The Serpa If you get a good starting grip your Finger will end up on the Frame and not on the trigger. BUT If you get a low grip it will be on the Trigger (which doesn't mean you have to PULL the trigger) If you flub the Serpa lock and try to draw, it gets stuck until you push back down and then release. There have been some AD's. Look up "man shoots leg" on YouTube

    P3AT?

I've got a 1st Gen P32. I like it IWB with the 10rd mag (10+1) It is neither pretty nor fun to shoot but has been 100% reliable with Fiocchi FMJ
  4. Buy a pack of Snap Caps. Dry Fire practice a LOT. Look at your sights and keep them TOTALLY STILL while pulling the trigger. Practice raising the gun up and finding a sight picture. People go to gun ranges and blow ammo and don't know how to see the sights or pull the trigger
  5. Just an aside about knives being suitable for Self Defense.... I'm a Martial Arts instructor and can do just fine with my Hideaway. That said, it depends. In a "Knife Fight" which only happens in movies really, you want to have a long blade to maximize your reach. In any other situation you want a knife you can deploy very quickly and NOT DROP. I'm more of a slasher than a stabber. Knives aren't like bullets. Arteries are just below the skin. My favorite Folder is an Emerson Karambit (which I also know how to use)
  6. I have an ESEE Izula II and a HEST. Love them both. I generally have a Hideaway as well
  7. You can get a solid used Glock 17 for $300 or so. Buy from a reputable dealer. It's a simple to operate and clean and if you learn good technique on that you will be able to shoot anything. 9mm at Walmart is $9-$11 for 50 rounds RE: .22 If you think you will PRACTICE (and you should if you want to shoot well) getting a .22 is an excellent idea. Get a Ruger 22/45 and a couple thousand rounds of Ammo from Walmart ($16 for 550!) and go SHOOT. If you can't shoot tight groups with a .22 then you can't shoot with anything else. If you're not going to practice, just get a Glock or a Keltec P11 and point in the general direction of the threat...
  8. I'm talking about where I live and the people that would see you walking down those streets. These people call 862-8600 when a door to door Cable TV salesman rings their doorbell. And my point is...there are people shooting each other on the sidewalks in the middle of the day. So if some one sees an Open Carry walking down the street, they will be alarmed. I carry ALL THE TIME and would like to keep it that way and keep it legal.
  9. For starters not everyone lives on a farm. I love visiting my relatives in the country where they don't need gun ranges. But anyway...I'll tell you why that has changed....over here we are having Drivebys in the middle of the day. It is drug dealers shooting each other (so far). We had a woman in her 60's pushing a baby stroller and a crazy guy ran up behind her at 10am on a busy street and tried to stab her in the neck. A guy in East Park got 'shot in the leg' TWO WEEKS IN A ROW (the SAME guy). A couple of weeks later a crazy guy was running people down in the Park driving a John Deere Gator. So when people see you walking down the street wearing a gun they aren't going to think "oh...there's a nice man exercising his right to carry". And imagine if you happened to be BLACK and were OC. The Helicopters would be out.
  10. If I open carried in my neighborhood there would be a hundred 8600 or 911 calls. Largely because there are a lot of shootings here. In my case though, a lot of people would assume that I was LEO. But if I OC'd walking up to my kid's school, all hell would break loose. Don't screw it up for every one by "exercising your rights"!
  11. Practice Practice Practice...and then Practice. Draw, Dryfire, Reholster a couple of thousand times. Then do it Live Fire. "Glock Leg" comes from poor training and no practice (and/or no holster)
  12. That's a nice sentiment but nah... People bristle up when they see guns. Even on LEO. I bristle up when I see guns. OC definitely sets the cause back. It creates a dialog that you don't want and mobilizes the opposition. "People are carrying guns around like it's the Old West...!" I'm happy to CC and also that I don't get in trouble if I accidentally OC. Best of both worlds. It also allows me to Open Carry when I am locking up my business at night if I choose.
  13. I've never tried a regular belt/buckle. I have gotten so used to being able to adjust Nylon Belts. My belts rarely show too.
  14. I like the SNL solution to the wait period: Charlton Heston - SNL NRA Spoof • VideoSift: Online Video *Quality Control
  15. I have a bunch of them... Keltec P11 and P32, Govt 1911, Glock 17 reinforced top. Great product, well built etc... What I don't like....the guns weight is carried on your body instead of on your belt. The lighter the gun, the less that matters. In a pocket there can be a problem if your pockets are loose...the holster can come out with the gun.
  16. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Picture the bad guy in his underwear
  17. I've used it with a Keltec P11. It works but is pretty bulky. I also have one for a P32 and that is good for me
  18. Get the Glock that fits your hand. IWB with a double hook well backed holster (Shielded Holsters, crossbreed, Minotaur, King Tuck...) and a good solid belt (wilderness poly lined Instructor for me). I carry Glock 17 or 5" 1911 Totally pass with a not too tight fitting T Shirt (I've been carrying these IWB for a few weeks and my wife hasn't noticed yet). The Glock 17 is harder to hide. On me, the pistol rides between 3:30- 4:00 and hides around my hip. I have them at the Max forward cant to hide the grip. If you lean forward you will print.
  19. I just got a wilderness instructor with the poly liner as I carry mostly fullmsized...G17 or 1911. Works GREAT
  20. Apparently a 410 slug penetrates just fine Clarksville Now - Man Accidentally Shoots Himself While Driving
  21. And be sure to carry while in line at The Redbox
  22. Nikon is better than Canon. As for 1911 vs Glock. I have both. Easy solution
  23. A friend of mine was spotted carrying at Indian Lakes. He was on his way out anyway and they just " let him know" that it wasn't permitted
  24. I would venture to guess that a point blank shot to your leg with the Judge would blow a larger hole on the entry side.
