The 17 is easier for me to operate and shoot. You can carry it...a bit more work I guess. The 19 is easier to carry. A baby glock is even easier

Wow....I had no idea it was that high. I accidentally let mine expire gotta start over -
I'm sure I'm in the minority....but I don't like them. A good set of pliers, a multi screw driver and a good knife serves me better than my multi tools. i do carry a tiny leather man style, small tweezers and eyeglass screwdriver. Again, they work better than multi tools

I recently moved to Hendersonville not far from Rockland and Drakes Creek. Any suggestions on some good shore fishing? i work at home so I can sneak out on weekdays....

What's in your pocket most often?
EastHipster replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Mine is an Applegate Combat Folder 'first production run' that I got in the 90's. i switched to an Emerson Karambit for a bit and sometimes carry fixed blades or neck knives but the Combat Folder just feels right to me. -
I know this is obvious...BUT WEAR GLOVES when spraying permethrin. I was putting some on my boots and it ran onto my fingers. I IMMEDIATELY washed my hands with orange hand cleaner... I could still feel it tingling for several days. Nasty stuff. That said, yesterday I accidentally shot an arrow about 10 feet into the tree line in my back yard. I walked straight through the shortest brush (a little above ankle high....picked it up and walked straight out. I had two ticks on my legs that fast.

Wine in grocery stores = sale on survival stuffs
EastHipster replied to monkeylizard's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Good tip. Kroger has had the wine aisle set up for a while now. Will check -
Touring with weapons can get tricky. Unplanned added shows in no carry states....traffic stops, venues with tight security...unexpected fly dates added while you're already out.

I put an upgraded trigger on my Glock and tested to see how 'easy' an AD would be. i had to pull and hold a thick fleece jacket (couldn't get it to happen with a T shirt) through the trigger guard and push really hard into the holster to get it to 'click'.

I've had a wilderness instructor for about 4 years. Nothing fancy. Bulletproof

He's a goofball but it's fun to watch

I didn't hear any this year during big Deer season in Whites Creek. 2 years ago they were very vocal

After 15 years....gonna start deer hunting again. Coyote too.

You might consider a "Scout Scope" setup. I did one on a Marlin 30/30 I really prefer Aperture sights but the scope gives you a substantial edge in first and last light. That said, I might take the Scope off this year. The Scout scope is set farther from your eye....you can use a pistol scope for it...gives nice peripheral vision which is good in thick/shorter range woods. I loaded my own Varmint loads for 30/30 but haven't seen any Coyote when I had it -
Best value in fishing reels just got better!
EastHipster replied to Slappy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Hah....been steering big clear. Do I NEED another reel? Nope. Will I get one? Probably :) -
I'm going to bow hunt squirrels before the season is over. Lots of rabbits around but I don't see them in daylight and don't have a dog
-
They love persimmon but where I hunt, they just eat them at night

Funny....a friend of mine just moved to TN. He's a bow hunter but when he rifle hunts he uses a 30-06. Shot a Doe this year with it....from 20 yards :) He's used to letting them get close

I don't harbor any ill-will against people who use Crossbows when they are legal. BUT I was behind some one the other day in line that was buying one. Salesman was showing him the lighted scope etc.... I don't think they should be legal except with a medical/disabled exemption like many states did in the past. It's a rifle that shoots short arrows. But then again...I am hunting with a Longbow :)

I don't find it helpful unless you know where you are going to be shooting. I was taught to shoot with a sling. Other than that, I have used a single stick half at an angle back against my foot. Rest the Rifle on the Hand that is holding the stick. But I'm not taking 500 yard shots either.

I was set up in the tree at 5:30am. Squirrels were CRAZY. Heard lots of critters and at least two 'bigger than a rodent' noises were just in the thick woods where I couldn't see anything at about 8:00. Stayed in the tree until 9:30 Went back out to another spot at 4:30p to dark...just saw a fox, a skunk and a few hundred squirrels. It was a fun day any way. I'm out of town for a week and will hit the woods again then!

If you want to save a LOT of money but still always have camo, get a lightweight/partial mesh leafy suit. In warm weather you can wear it over Shorts and T Shirt and in the winter you can wear it over cheap thrift store wool sweaters and insulated coveralls....and NOT have to buy everything in camo. I have the ASAT Leafy. Use it all year.

This was near Old Hickory in Whites Creek. It could just be an above average sized Raccoon that ate WAY too many persimmon. Looked too big for Racoon But I'm going to keep my eyes open.
-
I'm going to be hanging in those trees for the next few months. At least I won't be caught off guard. Would have been much more of a shock if I wasn't expecting to see one.

Found this today in Whites Creek. Full of persimmon seeds.
