p.s. Capitol View Pawn's transfer fee is 20$ total. So's NSA and D&T. So you're still way off base.

Shelly, We appreciate you chiming it finally. However I hardly think pricing is the point here. We're discussing customer service, many of us have already expressed that we're comfortable paying a "slight" premium for that personal touch. Example: I bought an M&P9 from D&T, I found out that the front site isn't aligned to the mid-line of the gun not long after purchasing it. They walked me through the process in getting the issue taken care of, with several different options. The service I personally received over the phone leads me to believe that Outpost wouldn't do any such thing. If we're talking prices, everyone will agree Bud's is the cheapest hands down, what you need to do as a buisness is win us over with your excellent customer service if you're unable to compete in the price race. Make us WANT to give you our money. As for loaded guns, or what not that's a non-issue in my opinion. -a

I'm fine with paying a 20-30$ premium to hand cash over to my local shop. But if it's 50$+ I just gotta make the numbers work. Sometimes that's Bud's sometimes it's not. When I bought my Metro Arms 1911 the price difference was over $100. I bought that online. My new glock, I think it was 20$, and at G&L they give you a free range pass (15$ value). I'll take that all day long.

If your in Nashville or nearby, Capitol View Pawn charges 10$ per transfer, and 10$ for TICS. I think it was 22$ and change for the entire process. D&T will do a 10$ transfer for TGO members. They'd prefer you buy from then, and will work with you to accomplish that.

It's in Greenbrier. There's one in Hendersonville too.

Thanks for your input Daniel, I've dealt with Nick a couple times now and he's been great every time. My Dad and I both a fairly new (within 6 months) to the hobby/addiction of gun ownership and Dad was uneasy buying a Gen3, he saw it as the 4 is new and thus superior. Nick was very helpful in that area and was able to provide Dad with a "from experience" opinion on the two models and from that Dad was able to make a good decision with his new piece. That's a valuable trait in a salesman.

I agree about G&L, my wife is not very gun savvy and the guys working out in Greenbrier have been VERY helpful and accommodating when she comes in. I've bought a decent amount of guns in the last six months, all but two have been from G&L. They've been incredibly helpful. To be fair D&T also has been EXTREMELY accommodating and friendly. They sold me my M&P and I will do business with them again, they just didn't have the Glocks today :-/

I've been debating about putting this online, but I figured I might as well share my thoughts. Today, as a post-Christmas/Birthday gift (my bday is the 18th) I was on the prowl for a Gen4 Glock 26. Subsequently my father, also as a Xmas Present had me on the lookout for a Gen4 Glock 19. I was calling all over town, everywhere that was open. I talked to Guns and Leather (both), D&T Arms, The Armory, The Outpost Armory, Hero-Gear, Eastside Guns... I even called Nashville Sporting Arms, and thought about calling Franklin Gun Shop. I ended up purchasing the guns from Guns and Leather in Greenbrier (Thanks Nick!), Dad wound up with a Gen3 19 instead of a 4, while I still was able to find a Gen4 26. Here's where I wanted to share my experience: I called The Outpost Armory, I was told that the [guy on the phone] didn't have time to talk to someone who wasn't in the store, and that he couldn't tell me whether or not he had what I wanted because he couldn't stop what he was doing to help me. Let me state this, I understand, I've worked in retail I get that things can get busy, but I felt that it was inappropriate to tell me that he didn't have time to deal with me because I wasn't standing in front of him. I live a ways away from their store and there's no way I'd drive from Nashville to Outpost without knowing. My father and I wound up spending over a thousand dollars today. Perhaps to The Outpost Armory this is just a drop in the bucket, but I don't do that very often, so The Outpost Armory has effectively lost a customer primarily because I won't be buying another gun soon, and if I am I'll go to G&L first. I'm not trying to be "that guy," once again, I get being overwhelmed in a retail setting, but he should have put me on hold or not answered the phone I think. I don't know the circumstances, but I can't imagine he couldn't have put me on hold and while he was taking the background check back to the customer he couldn't have swung by the Glock counter and peeked inside. Either way I'm stoked with my new firearm. - Aaron

One of the Spyderco Sharpmakers. Some tools, and a white hat holster! Dad and I are going to get our Glocks tomorrow. ;-)
-
He does. And if the upper range is clear you can throw clays.
-
Welp, don't have another option. Unless.... You wanna come over an train me?
-
What IWB are you goin with?
-
Cool that's good to hear. I've got pretty small hands. I can get full grip on the pf9 with the little magazine lip on it.
-
Thats what I'm looking for. I think once a invoice pays out I'll be picking up a PPS. I've always wanted a James Bond gun.
-
Yeah... that's my concern. A hogue grip might fix that but still. The Walther felt great in the hand, I just don't think I'd be able to fine one to fire before I bought one.
-
Interesting... I may see if I can find one to take a look at. How's the recoil? Similar to the PF9 or more controlled?
-
I'll definitely take a long hard look at those before I do anything.
-
Good points. :-) I think I know what I'm ordering after Xmas.
-
I just sold my pf9 because of two issues. One: the enormous recoil inherent in those guns, and two: being a lefty the way I gripped that gun in particular caused me to drop the mag almost every shot. Despite those flaws, if you can shoot it you should find it accurate, and reasonably reliable. I sold mine for $225 btw.
-
I am leaning more and more towards the PPS. It's got great functionality, reliability, and firepower (imo). The issue I find is the crazy Mag costs... but I can get over that, I only need a few. It's also got the that third kinda cool with all the German markings and what not. Nothing wrong with a carry piece you like to look at too.
