About a month ago my mom found out that a long time employee/friend has been embezzling money from her for years. Now my mom is worried that since this person had her SSN# and all of her other personal information that they may try to steal her identity. Do any of you have any experience/advice on a way that she can protect or monitor her identity? Thanks.

Soon after my son was born (he's 5 now) my brother gave my mom a puppy to keep her comany around the house. My son became very attached to this little dog... well, we all did. This past summer we were in Brazil and I got an email from my brother saying that Sophie (my moms dog) had been hit by a car and killed. We weren't going to be back home for another month so I had a lot of time to think about how I was going to break the news to him, I was really dreading having that conversation. The more I thought about it the more I felt that I should just tell him the truth about what happened. When we got home to TN I sat him down and told him about Sophie, he teared up and cried for a few minutes, but took the news really well. So, for me honesty worked out pretty good, but every child is different and you know your little girl best. I hope you guys get your dog back.

You make a lot of assumptions in this post. No where does it say he approached their car. It does say... "He said the men jumped out of their car near the traffic light. He did the same." If I was in a car that was blocked in (The report does not mention the situation of Esteps vehicle) and had two guys exiting a vehicle and coming at me I would get out and face them as well. I'm not going to sit there and give them an advantage over me by trapping myself in my vehicle. Some may say that this would only escalate the situation, but I believe that the officers forced the situation by exiting first. Why is it assumed? "I didn't let them cut me off." I've lived in OR for a very long time and have had more interactions with the ORPD than I can count on all of my hands, toes and... well, more than 21 times. I'll have to admit of all of those times only once was it unprofessional and that was when I was in High school. I'm really interested to hear the other side of this story and if there is any surveillance footage. So far it doesn't look good for the officers involved.
