  1. Bad thing about Dragons Fire is you have to call the fire department as well as the cops afterwards. :pleased:
  2. I'm with you Greg, it's like who in the heck still shoots a .357? Then I remembered ... COWBOYS!  :pleased:  lol   I imagine the SASS shooters order .357 brass by the bucket loads, just like the IDPA guys buy 9mm.
  3. Well, I see my photo didn't post...wish I knew how to do that. Computer savvy? That ain't me!
  4. Well, my grandson turned two today. Thought it was time for him to contribute to the gun enthusiasts in the family, so what better way than to teach him how to sort brass. Occupied him for at least 30 minutes and that's pretty darn good for a two-year-old! :pleased:     http://s1070.photobucket.com/user/WaltKloeppel/media/sortingbrass.jpg.html
  5. Doggone Hozzie, you're pretty good at that!
  6. Either way, it would have to go through David. Seems like we've entertained this before. My my short term memory is exactly that. What was the question?   I'd buy a couple patches David, if you're reading this.
  7. And this whole T/C business shows exactly how ridiculous and complicated our gun laws are.   Wonder how many T/C single shots have ever been used in a crime?   IMO, single shots should have lots of exemptions. Heck, the government should be glad for those who choose a single shot over a semi-auto.
  8. On one of my Colorado elk hunts, I came across a big black bear in a blueberry patch. He saw me, woofed, and ran like mad in the opposite direction. A few days later, another bear, did the same thing. Then I came up on a bull moose at about 50 yards. He stared me down with a crazy eye as I s-l-o-w-l-y backed up, looking for a tree I could climb if necessary. The only weapon I had was my bow and it suddenly didn't feel much like a weapon anymore. I continued to back up until I was out of sight and made a wide birth of the area. BTW, I've never felt threatened by elk, they're basically like our deer, but a whole lot bigger!   Bottom line is if you're in an animal's territory, you should learn a bit about them and their habits. You would think if this snowmobiler was in moose country, he should've known a bit about them too. I'd be curious to know if he was a local, or someone there on vacation. When in Rome ...   Its hard for me not to judge the guy, as I've done my share of snowmobiling too when I was a young man growing up in Michigan. Those machines are awesome, and to me, he could've easily cut out through the woods and went around the moose, picking the trail back up a 100 yards or so past him.   Oh well, I think I've thrown the guy under the bus long enough on this one :yuck:
  9. "She" is a he, a youngster male. That little dangly thing under his chin is a dewlap. Only male moose have them. I think the other poster was correct in that he was curious, as most youngster anythings are.   Watching the video again, and comparing the size of this young moose to the snowmobile, this was no 1000-1500 lb moose like a giant bull can reach. This was probably a 500-600lb yearling at best.   Again, IMO, too much testosterone and firearms...bad mix. :2cents:
  10.   I would guess it was a 10mm, don't think a nine would've put it down that quick.
  11. Being a hunter who has hunted elk years back, and have had moose cross my path, this was just wrong. First, it was a young male, no antlers, and really couldn't of done much as long as the guy remained on his snowmobile. Maybe he wasn't aware or maybe he just was a dumbass, but causing all that ruckus drew that moose towards him. Moose hunters use grunt sounds to ATTRACT male moose during hunt season. If you look at all the snow, the moose was most likely using the snowmobile trail to browse on some vegetation that was probably uncovered from all the snowmobiles traveling that trail.   Bottom line IMO, a dick with a gun, with a video camera rolling, looking to play badass on YouTube. I would've erased that video from embarassment had I done something that stupid. The guy's obviously a hothead, wonder if that Glock would of also come out if some teenagers ambushed him with snowballs?
  12. I shoot my 226 in SSP ... not very well mind you, but I do shoot it :pleased:   It's that first double action shot that gives me grief. After that, the SRT is pretty smooth.
  13. I'm surprized that newer, smaller companies have not sprung up over all this. I mean, if I was a business entrepreneur with a few million dollars wanting to start a lucrative business, I'd open a rimfire plant and start production rolling. So many businesses try to create a need and then manufacture. Here, the need is already there, just ripe for the picking!   I do believe eventually hoarders will grow tired of spending lots of money stacking bricks, and slowly, the 'normal' shooting folks will catch up to what they consider a reasonable stash. Then once again, Wally World should have it sitting on the shelves anytime of day or night.   Does anyone remember the antifreeze shortage back in the 80s? One ethylene glycol plant burned, a few more closed shop, and boom, shortage. People started snatching up all the $5 a gallon jugs off the shelves in record time and then it was $30 a gallon before you knew it. I remember it well because right when it happened, I had to take my truck in for a leaking heater core and the damn two gallons of antifreeze the dealer charged me for was more than the core itself!   We as consumers are sometimes our own worst enemies. :pleased:
  14. That is fricken hilarious!
  15.   Agree Nicky ... if they made a car scent hanger with Hoppes, I'd buy it!   Good feedback fellows ... all them things that make you say hmmmm.....   Think I'll keep my ol' CLP close at hand. Been using that stuff along time, and the Army sure loves it, so you know its got to be good.
  16. I hear a lot of folks on here talk about Kroil lately. I've used Breakfree for about the last 20 years for my firearms, but recently picked up a can of Ballistol after reading so much hype about it. I like it, other than the smell, which takes getting use to. Seems to be pretty good stuff.   What are your thoughts of the two oils for all around gun use....lube, clean and protect?
  17.   Ah...my Deutsch is rusty ... four or six million? Dead in the end? lol... love that movie though.   And about your squirrel theory ... there ain't enough fricken squirrels at 10 squirrels a day for a gazillion preppers! That be like 36 billion squirrels a year and then we'd have a squirrel shortage ... and you can't stand in line to wait for that to come back!
  18. The sad thing is about this 'adult' game of snatching up every last .22 round on the planet, is that the kid's suffer. The .22 rimfire is the number one kid's gun, period. It's what our children cut their teeth on whether at the range or backwoods, plinking some coke cans. How many dad's and grandpa's are feeling the pinch of rimfire availability, to where its tough to take the kids out for an afternoon of burning a couple hundred rounds? A lot would be my guess.   The hoarders who think they have to stockpile 50,000 rounds of .22s for the end of the world ... well ... I'd call that a bit obsessive. :2cents:
  19. For what it's worth, I talked with a Winchester ammo rep yesterday at the National Wild Turkey Federation convention in Nashville. As an outdoor writer, I had my media badge on and went in early yesterday morning, so I was able to find a rep at the Winchester booth that had a few free minutes to talk. Of course my first question ... when are you going to catch up with the .22s? Without hestitation, he said "two years." Really? "Yep."   He based it on the outcome of dealer orders at the Shot Show. He did say Winchester (and the rest) has kicked up production to record levels, and have no intention of slowing down for a long time.   His other opinions of that conversation were...no government conspiracy, but plenty of 'civilian' rumor, enough to cause panic buying like they've never seen. I asked if the industry took a hit of .22 firearm sales slowing due to the rimfire availability. He said "not at all."   He finished with a smile and said, "business is good."   No doubt!
  20.   I was out there today, the newly burned berm is beautiful! They need to burn the rest of them! Then we wouldn't have to worry about wildlife laying up in the weeds and maybe even discourage those pesky deer from coming out and grazing during the middle of live fire. :pleased:
  21. Man, you guys shoot a lot of .22s! Is that formal tournament shooting or just plinking? I don't tourney shoot .22 but when I go plinking, I'll burn about 200 rounds, and I only go plinking about every other month. That's only 3-4 bricks a year, depending on the brick size.
  22. Sounds great, hopefully I can move that CDP novice up a notch...lol.   What time?
  23. I agree Jason, I bet they don't get returned. Almost doesn't seem possible to double charge a long rifle .22 though. In a modern .22, you'd think the hot load would work fine. Most .22 mag models are the same rifle, just a longer chamber.
  24. Yep, my Thumler tumbler model B failed me. I wondered when it was going to happen. I bought the darn thing in 1980, the same year I bought my K5 Blaser (not sure what scrap yard that's in now). So the other day I opened up the barrel after tumbling a couple hundred rounds of 45 brass, and the inside was BLACK....brass, media and all. The black rubber lining got so old and brittle, it finally disintegrated into a black powder mess. I mean really, don't they make anything to last longer than 34 years?   During my (made in USA) Thumler's 34 years of faithful tumbling of tens of thousands of rounds of brass, I only had to change the belt maybe four times. So I ordered a new rubber barrel and gasket for $50 and as quick as you can say more brass please...I'm back in business.   I wish Thumler made more than tumblers...like cars and computers! :usa:
