  1. That's my boy! But Michael, you need to update him to Sharpshooter, that's what he classified for this spring. Don't let him sandbag us Marksmans! LOL   I'm rooting for him in VA, hope he gets a match bump.  :woohoo:
  2. It was fun. We had a good squad. Always fun to watch Scott and Robert show us how its done.
  3. Love the "new" side to the range. Flat walking and some shade. Great job on the new walls and the shoot house.
  4.   Ron, you may want to also check out Gallatin Gun Club's "Intro to IDPA shooting" on June 13. It will be an all day coaching/practice event for anyone interested in starting competitive shooting.   It is only open to newbies and they won't even keep score!   The cost is $15 for the day. It is posted here under competitive shooting sports also.
  5. Just opened my IDPA Tactical Journal and saw (Pg. 6) that one of our own, 9mmNORMA , had a nice write-up.   Kudos to ya girl!  :woohoo:   Nice to see Tennessee so well represented in IDPA, aka Norma, Bresson, R Stanley, King, JCoop, R Kyle, J Williams, Scott Randolph, etc ... and all the rest of us who send rounds down range in best hopes.
  6. While I support the good things the NRA does for us in protecting gun rights, all the side BS they put out really irritates me at times.   I just got another mailing from them, this one TEN pages! This one marked registration, starting out "Dear Walt, your decision to activate your no cost member benefits was a smart one!"   Say what? I didn't activate jack diddly. And then it goes on for another eight pages on why blah blah I need their emergency assistance program. But what irked me the most was that in a total of ten pages, there is NOT ONE CONTACT option where I can call, text, or email to ask, "What the heck is this?"   I belong to the NRA to protect our gun rights, but all the "other" mailings get old.
  7. Is Bowling Green on Central or Eastern time? I know Ky get's weird with that zig zaggy time line coming down the middle of the state.  :pleased:
  8. Yep, depends on the shot. This big boar bowled right over with a .221 Fireball to the center of the forehead at 75 yards. But for quick, close body shots, I'd like any of those big bore toys ya got. They all should work.   http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u495/WaltKloeppel/Waltsboar2.jpg
  9. John, an ace mechanic like you should be able to come out and shoot and still get over to the shop to pull out that tranny in like 30 minutes?    Oh wait, that was in the old days, now everything is hooked to a computer. Dang, I miss the simplicity of those 60s made cars!
  10. Sorry I missed it, but had a great day with my two grandsons today.  :pleased:
  11. Yep, shooting off the four wheeler reminded me of some of the old time redneck deer hunts I've been on ...
  12. He does look different Coop, like waaaay better looking than in real life ... think maybe he's been airbrushed?
  13. LOL ... thanks Toby, but sometime I worry when I have my game face on during a match that I may not appear to be that nice  :pleased:   You know what they say, nice guys finish last ... oh wait, I must appear to be nice, cuz I sure finish close to last at most matches!
  14. I have TGO - 221 Fireball across the back of my shooting vest. It works, I've had several other TGO/IDPA shooters come up to chat because of that.   I'd post a photo, but I have yet to figure how to do that unlike the gun selling forum where you can attach direct from your photo file.
  15. Guess my question here would be, is it the safety officer's responsibility to assure that the shooter puts his weapon on safe before holstering? (let's us a 1911 for example)   If so, how does he do that watching 8-10 shooters mass load?
  16. I lived in Ky for 30+ years ... we didn't have helmet laws. There were many years of riding lidless in my younger days. I liked it. My hindsight as a 60-year-old rider today is that I wish the government would've said I had to wear a helmet back then because I was too stupid not to do it on my own accord. Maybe you guys are smarter.    I lost a friend to a bike wreck while I was in Ky. Massive head trauma. The docs said he would have survived if he had a helmet (he ran off the road at less then 40 mph). Which in reality, is where a helmet makes a difference in my opinion. Wreck your bike at 70 mph+, or get T-boned by a soccer mom, it really don't matter what you're wearing.   I understand the government/freedom thing, but we need some laws in our society to function, and a helmet law just isn't so hard for me to swallow. Just don't mess with my guns!  :usa:
  17. Justin,   Mapquest doesn't bring up 16th Model Rd. Can you post some old fashion directions exiting off 24? Is it the Hwy 53 or 55 exit?
  18. I've owned both the Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 and the S&W 29. Both are great guns. I know there's been some Smith bashing of not holding up to "hot" loads. I'm not going to argue that either way, but I still have my Mod 29-2 from 30 years ago and I've feed it a steady diet of factory 240 grain ammo, along with factory equivalent reloads all that time with no problems. It's still as tight as ever.   As far as the new Talo vs the Classic, I believe the Talo has the full length under barrel rib while the Classic does not. I don't think you'll go wrong with either ... or the Ruger. In the end, its what YOU like.
  19. Oh hell no.   My Road King does not do snow. Now my TW-200 may ... in an emergency.  :pleased:
  20. Would like to see a ride out Natchez Trace way, Williamson Co.   I rode this route for the first time last summer with Jaysan60, nice roads tailored for group rides!
  21. Even if there's bugs to work out, it's still a neat concept of having an M1 carbine replica that you can shoot relatively cheap, as compared to actual .30 M1 carbine ammo.   And EVERYBODY has a 10/22, so enjoy your beat to a different drummer ... it looks great and I bet its a fun plinker.  :pleased:
  22. Are you going to use winter hours start time? Like 10:00 am, since it is going to be 22 degrees at 8:00.   Let me go ahead and answer your response Michael, "Yes, I am."
  23. Classifiers aren't easy nor fun to run. A big thanks to Joe and John and the supporting crew for doing best they could.   Only suggestion I'd make for the future is to set the course in its entirety and run each member completely through and send them home. Then at least someone would be in bed by 10:00  :pleased:
  24. Good call, next week SHOULD be a bit better. Damn groundhog anyway ... somebody hand me my Fireball, I'll show him a shadow ...  :pleased:
