Several people here are known to be such, as least to me, at least one person has a tag line that would lead one to believe they are such. As to holding others, I am saying that I would expect them to hold themselves to a higher standard since they have made it known they are such and thus are representing their faith in public. Also, last time I checked, which admittedly has been a while, didn't Jesus advocate forgiveness and compassion etc? I know he advocated for self defense (sell your cloak to buy a sword and the whole failure to give warning makes you as guilty as the enemy and all that), but not out right revenge and vigilantism.

Just remember that a court will not put much, if any value, on your opinion of what your rights are. If you tell them you shot him over your car, then it was nice knowing you as I will not visit you in prison.

I think I see where you are coming from. To be fair, some of the Shoot on Sight people are being a bit overboard. I am especially bemused by the Christians who advocate killing over such minor theft. I would've expected some level of compassion and an attempt to help the person.

Equipment is definitely an issue, but at this point it's still a vague possibility. I may or may not be able to take the time off, the boy might have a game that day etc. Thanks for the offer and the quick response Definitely putting you guys on my list of places to keep an eye on for the future.

Ok just did and still don't get it. The OP is about shooting people over theft if it was legal. He asked if it was ever legal. Now as to misinterpreting what you say, I am getting the vibe that you think I am misrepresenting what you said, and trying to paint you in a less that stellar light. That wasn't and isn't my intention. I really don't get what you were getting at. I am assuming that you had a legitimate point. If I thought you were a blathering idiot, then I would either have ignored you or told you why I thought you were wrong. So I asked. If it came off as some form of attack, my bad and sorry about that.

Why so hostile? Seems like you are the one who is being all Billy Badarse in trying to conceal your status. What you have to do, and what you should reasonably do aren't always the same thing, but that doesn't mean they are never the same thing.

Do you realize his job is to catch bad guys? Do you know a cop pulled Jeffrey Dahmer over while he had a body in a bag in the back seat? (FTR Dahmer went on to murder more people after this.) It's a designation saying that the round has a stronger than "normal" amount of pressure when fired. +p+ is usually a police version. Both can theoretically void warranties and you should verify whether any given gun is rated for said ammo.

I think the original intent was in case you got a funny feeling and the family member present didn't seem to be on the same page. Ah sorry, wasn't trying to derail things. I don't have my HCP, in part because I don't have an original copy of my Cert. of Live Birth, ie I am a full fledged Army Brat, born in Frankfurt, Germany. To get your HCP, you have to present an original copy. I do find it amusing that I could use a passport which I could get with my copy of my "birth certificate". But since I can see having a need for an original BC in the future, and it costs $50 or so vs a passport for $100 which I forsee no real need for.... As to the mea culpa, I should've been clear on what I was talking about. I have a bad habit of popping in here real quick and not organizing my thoughts before I post....

Taken out of context. I should have quoted quietguy as I was responding to him. So i said what you quoted as part of saying if it isn't a firearm, then it would depend on my intent. Obviously if the object in question is a firearm, the rest is moot. Also, I thought I implied sufficiently that I was just going along with it for fun. I didn't start this thread with the intention of getting moral support for buying a Colt and going to jail. As soon as my tractor can stay out of the shop for more than a month at a time, I should have the cash to start the ball rolling. Still have to give the Feds a pound of flesh to get my Cert. of Live Birth and all that.

I think the law should more broadly reflect the reality that if you encounter a thief, there is a reasonable chance he will attempt violence against you to prevent his arrest and imprisonment. Therefore, a thief would be presumed to present a threat to your person and thus justify self-defense.

Be very quiet on your island. Zombies don't need to breathe. As to a boat, make a really good "rat guard" as imagine the fun when ones climbs your anchor chain.... If I had to hole up on solid ground, I've been thinking modifying the terrain to have V shapes to try and route them around your property. Or really anything that would funnel them away from your primary residence. Not something you could build overnight, but move vehicles, cut trees strategically etc. Speaking of trees, what about planting evergreens? Would block sight and help muffle sound year round. Can't help but think that could be useful against both living and dead. Not up close of course, but along the perimeter etc.

Just for the sake of fun and games I'm going to give this a shot. I am going to hazard a guess that automatic knives and expandable batons are banned specifically. I do know that if I told a police officer I was carrying a Colt 1851 Navy for the purpose of going armed I would be off to jail without a HCP. "Intent to go armed" (not exact terminology) is a crime. For example, if I am carrying around a baseball bat in my car, am I breaking the law? Only if my intent is to go armed. If however, I was legitimately carrying the Colt for some other purpose, then I would have no such intent. Then it would/could simply fall to whether or not it's a firearm. If not, then I am not breaking the law any more that I would be if I was taking my son's bat to him at the park.

The problem would be, as OhShoot pointed out, TN doesn't mirror Federal law. Like most things in TN, YMMV.

Heh, gotta love TN's laws. Can't say I am surprised. Thanks for laying it out, and my apologies for not searching for a previous thread on this. The idea popped into my head one day, and while I was sitting here I was reminded of it and the rest is just plain foolishness

1. You knew it was going to be stupid when you clicked to read it, so no flames. 2. I am asking purely because I am curious. Federal law doesn't consider antique firearms to actually be firearms for purposes of sale etc. Assuming TN uses the same definition, would it be legal to carry a loaded firearm that was legally an antique without possessing a HCP?

Or is it a way to provide residents of the Communist states an opportunity to carry outside the USSA? **multiple edits cuz I can speel but my feengers cannt**

So if a TN resident got a non-resident VA permit, they could carry in other states, but not TN? Just trying to be clear on this?

Can anyone recommend a good website to read up on archery? The boy keeps talking about starting archery and I am pretty much clueless. Played with a fiberglass one when I was a kid so I basically know how to nock an arrow and might even know enough to avoid shooting myself in the foot For example, how to tell what length of bow to get based on height? How to determine the right poundage? I assume there is a guideline, ie if you can lift and hold a X lb weight etc then you need a Y lb bow?
