  1. I get what you are saying, but unless you are a doctor and have pronounced him, it is life threatening to him.
  2. I still think it sounds fishy, but the officers could have been falsely accused. I've heard of officers getting disciplined because a citizen called in a complaint that the officer who just drove by gave me a dirty look and Hey Ofc. Smith weren't you on Somewhere Rd at 1300? Come here, I got some paperwork for you to sign.
  3. If the victim doesn't go down, more join in. I assume that includes the first kid gets decked. I also think that being outnumbered constitutes fear etc. **edit** Well looks like I am in the minority here. It says if the victim goes down they scatter, else more jump in. Wouldn't knocking the first kid out/down/blocking his attacks etc all count as you not going down? So then likely more would jump in. Now granted if the first one goes down because some of his internal organs are no longer functioning, then yea I would imagine that would break up the party.
  4. I think I read it back in school but that was a long time ago....thanks for the post
  5. Well after reading this story I posted in FB that I apparently have been wrong all these years. Guns are obviously a serious threat to our children and thus we need to disarm and just let our old folks die. I mean after all, these punk *** bitches are our future!!
  6. My only concern there is the state trampling your employer's rights to say what happens on their property.....
  7. He gets a cop's salary and has kids. That means he can't afford a lock box **EDIT** That said, just hit me that I do the same thing with my home defense pistol. I only chamber a round when the wife "hears something", but then I just reload the round into the mag and stash it again. Good excuse to go to the range and fire off a few rounds
  8. I voted no (as in would not since I don't have a permit, yet) for multiple reasons. However in your situation it makes perfect sense. I work in a secure facility with armed guards, and it is my permanent job (17+ yrs till retirement Yay me!!) so breaking the rules would have a much larger impact on me than you. Plus since I work for the po-leece, I would likely get to visit with my friends at the nearby DCSO facility. Plus with luck, you will have a better job soon and no one will ever know. Well except for us, and we won't tell
  9. If you change the radio station in your car and kill someone in the ensuing crash, should you be poor the rest of your life after they sue you for negligence? Don't get me wrong, I have sympathy for them since it was likely the same kind of temporary stupidity that we've all committed. I think the "fair" thing to do is for them to forfeit the firearm, pay fines and court costs and get probation for the duration of the normal sentence. If they have and maintain a clean record, then I would advocate for an expungement <sp>.
  10. Well isn't this the state that kept electing a murdering drunk to office over and over again?
  11. With OS on this one. There's a chance he was just looking to pressure you for a donation, but all he would've had to do was catch you outside or even in the bathroom. Waiting till the parking lot implies trying to get away....
  12. It does if the guys driving the tanks down our streets say it does. Point being at that stage you can be right or you can be alive.
  13. Easy. I carry a pocket knife so I can open up boxes etc at work. Happens, oh at least twice a year If I carried a knife so that I would be able to defend myself if attacked, that would be intent to go armed. And for the record, I am only partially kidding. I do indeed use my knife to cut the straps on boxes of paper, and when we get in new server racks etc, gets old breaking down all the boxes, packing material etc by hand.
  14. My guess is he misunderstood the chart and looked up NY on the left and saw IA or ID and thought that meant they recognized the permit. Since A: that's backwards, ie that means they honor NY permits and B: Indiana is IN I believe....
  15. How sad though that her husband died on Xmas day, and then has to deal with this? Still I think with her for a mom, her son will be in the news one day himself, in a good way
  16. Those people haven't figured out that if a law doesn't stop murders, then a law plus a sign won't stop illegal gun carrying.....
  17. I came here to argue that beer was the driving force behind civilization, but that is a good article and is on it's way to FB
  18. I would guess the owners did it so they could eat their cake and still have some left over. It will reassure the sheeple and although piss off people like you, won't stop you from coming in. Great example of capitalism at work if ya ask me.
  19. I hear ya. I live for the day when I have to explain a fencing tool to some city kid turned cop. For those who aren't familiar, it's like a pair of pliers with a wire cutter built-in. Oh yea, and don't forget the hammer head on one end, the prying hook on the other etc. It's pretty much a one stop shop for burglary tools The younger the cop, the more you will have to worry about as a rule. Just released on his own is the worst. Maximum effort with minimal experience. So any thing you say that can be taken out of context will be. Not saying they are "bad" cops, just that youthful exuberance can get the best of them
  20. "not formally interview". That speaks volumes. Translated to English, that means if we don't ask them on the record, then they can't get caught in a lie. I've seen people get a few days off for a damaging expensive property through negligence or stupidity, and then someone else gets fired over lying about a cheap piece of equipment that was damaged in a legitimate accident. Just based on that quote it leads me to believe the dept knows the ofc's forked up, and are trying to cover it up. Others here are probably right in that Mr. Estep is a hothead, probably has a history, and so they don't want to ruin "good" officer's careers over this. Same vein as just because he raped a girl once (maybe, we all know how girls from that part of town are), is no reason to ruin a football scholarship. Hope I'm wrong, and I doubt we will ever know.
  21. First off those of us that work for the govt chose to go to work every morning just like every one in the private sector. Part of that is our names, salaries etc posted online for the world to see. How is it not fair when we chose to apply to work there? Also, as to your hypothetical, as long as your full name and employer are listed as the accuser, the only harm is the stupidity of the populace believing the story with no proof. That fault doesn't lie with the media. Publishing the story with no investigation on the other hand, again would go back to the public for watching such nonsense after the last time they did something so stupid.
  22. Not saying it was legal, but I would guess the ofc. thought he had found burglary tools and (presuming here) that is PC to search. Also the bit about just having left a State Trooper station probably sounded like a lie. I mean what are the odds? So I would imagine the ofc thinks he was above board and was just unlucky in that he didn't find stolen goods.
  23. And this (plus all the other comments) is why I shouldn't post after midnight. I was going off the previous comments about a HCP is only a defense, and thinking that the law says if asked you must show the permit, and tell the officer you are carrying. So based on that line of thinking (correct or not as it may be), I was asking if it wouldn't be a crime to fail to tell the officer you were armed. I am not a jack-booted thug, though 20 years ago that was my goal in life. I studied Criminal Justice with a eye toward going into Federal LE, and yes intended to try to use just that type of manipulation etc in the interests of "Justice". Fortunately I grew up mentally and am now a Libertarian.
