  1. I've just never bought custom grips so wasn't prepared for the sticker shock!! Figured it was not a big deal, but some people are so honest they don't realize when they do something like that it could bite them. Sounds like you got it under control though
  2. 1. Very cool. 2. Yikes they cost a lot more than I was thinking. 3. Maybe you should black out your address
  3. First, I didn't use "you" in the sense of you personally. Therefore, I have no real worry about you personally coming to my house and attacking my dog. You seem to think I am taking this conversation personally, when I am just pissed about the family dog having a full on medical event that the vet said could have been fatal if we hadn't brought her in. Also, I never said anything about suing or even verbally harassing someone who defended themselves from my dog. Even if she wasn't attacking but gave the appearance of doing so etc. Covered all that. I said if someone effectively attacked my dog without provocation. FTR I dropped out of my Criminal Justice/Pre-Law courses one semester before graduation because I broke one knee and trashed the other so my LE career was over before it began, not because I couldn't comprehend the law.
  4. As I said, a neighbor saw it happen. My dog was standing on my property next to the road and the person who was in the road on the far side crossed over and while in the road sprayed my dog who had not moved an inch. No chasing occurred. My dog wasn't being aggressive and so there was no reason they couldn't have continued to just keep walking. No, I am not saying my dog has the right to chase people etc etc. I am saying that the people need to exercise caution when dealing with other people's animals/property. I live in the Joelton/Goodlettsville area and I will for damn sure follow you until the police show up if I catch you assaulting my dog. Then I will contact one of your colleagues and get the vet bill out of your "assets". Exactly. If my dog had been attacking, then I would have been apologizing. If she had been acting aggressive etc, then I would have understood. I know that other people don't know her or her history, and so I don't expect them to treat her any differently than any other potentially dangerous animal. The fact that she was a rescue dog and was so abused that it took almost 2 years before we ever heard her bark (and she ran and hid under the bed when she did as she was so afraid of being punished etc) is moot because it isn't a fact known to anyone but us. As it is, when she alerts she usually barks once and runs to find me. That day was likely the fault of a neighborhood lab who barks at any and all movement. Point being, I am not pissed she was sprayed, I am pissed she was sprayed when she wasn't a threat and more to the point, wasn't appearing to pose a threat. It was likely some a-hole who wanted to be a bad-ass and show off for his friends.
  5. I missed this post earlier apparently. This is good advice. However, I had good luck with a 2x4 when I decided 5 dogs on 1 cat wasn't a fair fight. Yes I was young and stupid, as I owned none of the animals involved. Wound up with a $6 million dollar cat though. Seriously, thank the gods the vet cut me some serious slack on the bill. And that, my son, is why we can't have nice things. Daddy talks like a hard-ass, then saves a stray cat. Just remember when you drive out to the country to ride your bike, you are the guest and my dog lives here. I catch the a-hole who pepper-sprayed my dog for barking, and I will only use harsh language as anything else would be illegal. FTR, a neighbor saw it happen, and my dog (a German Shepherd) was not attacking, was standing still and barking and this a-hole walked up and sprayed her. Speaking of vet bills......not all dogs react well to that.
  6. Glad to hear it was nothing. My wife would likely have gone inside to see why the light was flickering, if she even noticed......
  7. My main concern would be how often would you have to clean it. It says can be cleaned at least 100 times, but that is only half the story...
  8. Not sure if I have any of those around, but will sure keep an eye out. Thanks for the info. You too wewop @UncleJak I have heard it isn't bad, but then again it may well be a acquired taste. My plan isn't to use it as a money saver, more just total SHTF type thing.
  9. Cover your mouth with your hand and say something offensive and see if they react. By offensive, I mean the nastiest thing you can say given any other people around who might hear and that you are comfortable with. Learned this from a buddy of mine when I lived in Chatt. Cheaper than an air horn and just about as effective.
  10. I hear you on that. The last test I took for a IT job with Metro actually had grammar questions, as in which of the following sentences is the most correct. Kinda threw me for a second...had to circle back around for those
  11. Good deal. There is supposed to be a water source nearby. Not sure what to call it as it's not really a creek, or a very short one. IE the water comes up from under some rocks and only goes 10 feet or so before going back under from what the old timers told us. That and I am looking for a combination electric/hand pump for the old well that is under the house. Thanks again for all the info. Very helpful, as I am too paranoid to trust too much info I find in wiki's etc.
  12. Yea I get ya, more surface area and all that. I am going to do some thinking on that ie small bags vs larger which would likely require more manipulation etc. @subsonic Hmm as much iced tea as I drink, maybe I am immune?
  13. Okies. I was planning to gather some just to see what it would take to get them ready. Now to find that water source I was told is down in the holler somewhere
  14. Thanks. Soaking I take it you mean in a porous bag? Mostly looking for SHTF solutions, as anything lesser will be easier. IE if we still have reliable power, I will just boil them on the stove. Just not sure that hauling firewood to boil acorns would result in net gain in calories
  15. I see mention from time to time here of eating acorns. However the last time I did research on this it said the only "safe" ones were from white oaks from the west coast or some such. Local ones have too much tannin(?) and have to be boiled repeatedly. Can someone here provide me with reliable info? I have many huge oaks on my property and so would be useful to know this before the SHTF
  16. Ok forget what I was going to say about his terminology, he is planning to install sights without the proper tools? "I will figure out what to do"??? I can spell gunsmith but that's about it. But what little I do know tells me that if he does his own sights, he might actually improve his aim The 10mm is one of, if not the most, powerful calibers out there huh? 14 rounds of magnum power.......this guy is obviously overcompensating.
  17. Yea, that is a fear of mine as well. Not a germaphobe <sp?>, but I tend to live like one.
  18. Reginald Denny would probably agree with this statement. **edit** OT: I am thinking this through.....not much point in posting that I would be running around like idiot with the ol' Louisville slugger
  19. I have to admit I snickered. You may want to see if Memphis PD has a anonymous complaint number to call. That way you could give a highly sanitized version of the story (ie just mention he didn't clear the weapon, was rude etc) and maybe get some one to get off their butt and say something during roll call etc. I know MNPD does roll call "training" all the time with brief mentions of things to do/not do etc etc.
  20. Back on Glen for a moment, I think part of the whole sleeping on the floor bit wasn't just him being nice, or the rule that Nice Guys Sleep Alone. I think it was to set up the comment about Hershel being in the house so that it will be extra awkward when he wants to move into her room once Daddy is gone....
  21. So confirmed you have to be escorted?
  22. Didn't Shane give it to Rick during his latest (and last) how sucky Rick was at being a dad speech?
  23. So a single/double shotgun could be legal with ammo laying right beside it? Since it isn't loaded and no "clip or magazine" is nearby?
