I know exactly what you are talking about, I've noticed this quite a few times ...just recently I was talkin to this fella I had just met in his late 50s a few weeks back for about thirty minutes at work & as he was leavin (to go meet his wife) he shook my hand again, added in pat on the back from the side as we were walkin toward the door that almost turned into a one armed hug. It went from cool to awkward in like 15 sec & lingered too long. I was feelin like I got rolled like a 13 yr old thai boy. 'Wtf just happened' in my head. I suppose my time in the north has made me hyper sensitive but that was weird. I feel like it just an expression of comraderie more than anything but I may have thicker personal boundaries than most. If as u say they are obviously armed then I would actively work to defend the household by whatever stealthy means are necessary includin diversions & subterfuge. If they were not Obviously armed as in brandishing weapons I would still assume they were armed but keeping their hands free to steal until such time as they felt threatened enough to draw their weapons. Most anyone involved in a breaking & entering will be armed. I would hope to respond with enough tactical awareness to be able Assess, Plan & Execute. The unfortunate truth is due to the sheer amount of adrenaline & emotion I may not have the cognitive processing to do much beyond rely on muscle memory of house clearing & defending drills. It would be nice to conduct interrogation before life expiry so I can know what clandestine organization is looking to scrub my name from the registers, questioning would occur after putting my tinfoil hat back on lest the reflective appearance cost me a tactical advantage... Be careful goin thru Ilinois with a butterknife, not sure on long guns but you've got have your handgun unloaded & stowed away from the ammo if I remember right. If u Eliminate the quotient 'willing to work' & substitute 'you have no choice if u want to live' these numbers would change. Frankly I just don't care about these people. +1 to Darwin. Any prescription drug but especially depression(make me want to slit my wrist). Any feminine care, shampoo, bodywash, deodorant, toothpaste (it's called PERSONAL hygiene). Any class action (mesothelioma, etc.) But that's all why I have a mute button on the t.v. & just switch on radio. I ordered sweet tea at an applebees in michigan & they brought me unsweet & pointed to the splenda/pink&blue sweeteners? I said really? Why didn't u tell me it was unsweet. He said that's all we make, you know because of diabetics. Before my too polite wife could stop me it slipped out and I asked 'do you not fry anything because of the fat people too?'.
