I got a 'Midland ER102 Emergency Radio with NOAA Weather' for about $35. I like all the extra features including usb phone charging on rear. It's like the XT511 functionally but without the two way talk. One consideration I didn't realize at the time, it's not like an at home unit that will 'come on' to alert you of new S.A.M.E. alerts in your 5digit FIPS county code. It has to be actively powered on either to a weather channel or fm channel to issue alert tone. & not programmable for fips just receives truncated. But I like the lightweight, slim portability good for a pack. http://www.amazon.com/Midland-ER102-Emergency-Radio-Weather/dp/B000P0M99U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359762493&sr=8-1&keywords=er102

Moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings
zapfbroad replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
It's evident in the current argument surrounding the country when so few people understand why we are indignant. Not because we are deer huntersor solely concerned with self protection but because of the original intent of the 2nd amendment & the intent in posterity to protect against tyranny. Statists have already successfully reframed the context because we have been lax. -
Moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings
zapfbroad replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I have spent a lifetime arguing this point. I am often chastised because my vocabulary is comprised of too many denotative words and not enough common language. I have often been accused of 'trying to sound smart' but it's actually a by product of having a teacher for a mother. We cannot allow them to frame the argument incorrectly lest we will inevitably lose. -
Shoulder Holster - Vertical or Horizontal?
zapfbroad replied to Motasyco's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
All that being said if you're going to be doin this same work outdoors come warmer weather I would just invest in a good gun belt & better hip holster. Sweatin in a shoulder rig can't be fun id imagine, I'm busy tryin to stay warm at the moment so I wouldn't know. A better belt ought to fix the pants issue, if you're talkin bout workin outdoors & sweatin you might be better off looking at a good thigh rig if the hip holsters r still bugging you. Either way I would recommend one of the threads on awesome gun belts. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2 -
Shoulder Holster - Vertical or Horizontal?
zapfbroad replied to Motasyco's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I've been driving A LOT for work lately typically 11 hrs getting in/out of the truck a couple hundred times during that period. I decided to try a shoulder rig finally, horizontal, holds two spare mags on offside. Wasn't sure if I would like it so I ordered a cheapy for $13 on amazon, I saw it at my lgs in camo but they sold that & I wanted black anyways. Mine is velcro clasps mainly with adjustable straps. It is a different feeling to become accustomed to, kinda like wearing a backpack inschool after bein off all summer. Id tell you the brand though I doubt it is one & I'm wearing it so I can't see. Wouldn't want vertical. Haven't had any fumbling out of it but the velcro is still new & clean. One day I may get to touch one of those $150 miami leathery rigs but I don't work in an office or wear a blazer around town hah so this serves the purpose for now. Interesting sermon by Pastor Jeff Wickwire out of Texas about the role of self defense from a biblical perspective and how the image of a pacifist Jesus has pervaded modern Christendom. ~ 38 minutes. http://vimeo.com/46530288

So reads the title on this page posted in true gestapo fashion.... how long before some genius thinks to do this here... "The map indicates the addresses of all pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties. Each dot represents an individual permit holder licensed to own a handgun — a pistol or revolver. The data does not include owners of long guns — rifles or shotguns — which can be purchased without a permit. Being included in this map does not mean the individual at a specific location owns a weapon, just that they are licensed to do so." http://www.lohud.com/interactive/article/20121223/NEWS01/121221011/Map-Where-gun-permits-your-neighborhood-

Nra press -- not bad, one epic fail
zapfbroad replied to Jonnin's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Secularism is more to blame than gaming or mass media. It's a loss of the valuation of life because of the denial of a spiritual component. The games, media are simply outcomes just as are the shootings. They aren't source problems manifesting the outcome. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2 -

Progressively over the last few years I've found listening to Costas to be more & more discordant. The majority of the times I've heard him speak it has not been in panel commentary but rather while I was visually paying attention to some event and he was background chatter. In hindsight, I suppose it has been verbal leakage of his leftist ideologies that I never really tuned into that was flavoring the narration of what I was seeing, at the time I just felt he was too flowery and emotive despite his notable timbre. Now I can simply flip my listening switch when I hear him start speaking again like when Sam Donaldson hemorrhages his propaganda.

"Activist Quanell X said both men shared blame for what happened." __ always heartening to see the New Black Panther party being quick to the scene. I like the pretty poster saying he was an "innocent young father", maybe he should have been at home with his kids at 0330 rather than out with his boys at the stopnrob. Lots of unanswered questions here.. who is the random tall black guy that was locked in with the store clerk prior to the shooting? Was he actually holstered or pocket carrying because unlocking the door with gun in hand doesn't seem like a way to a peaceful resolution. Clerk Probably should have just called the cops.
