  1. Those are really good lookin blades!
  2. Thanks whitewolf001!! I'm really having fun! Two people have bought them before they are finished! Who ever knew you could have so much fun and pay for the expense also!!!!
  3. I'm gonna use a new material to me called Shockwood. It's a resin kinda material and I bought it on a whim. I'm gonna use mosaic decorative pins and because it's a modified Persian style blade, I'm gonna call it " The Pimped Persian!"
  4. Just on the weekends! I work full time!
  5. Once all of thes new blades get back from heat treat, I'm gonna be swamped!
  6. Nashville Gun and Knife is not huge but I like the store and the guys!
  7. Yup, that was the one I fondled, Nashville Gun and Knife!
  8. I have fondled this and frankly I think it is a ridiculous design. Feels like a brick and I can only imagine the issues that would arise when firing it! Watching it eject spent casings would be interesting though.....
  9. I resemble Willis's post................
  10. As some of you may have noticed I have found a new addiction. I thought guns were all consuming, we'll let me tell you, what a ride! With a life long interest and some inspiration from some very talented individuals (thank you Grand Torino) the journey progresses. I only started this a little over five weeks and so far I have one completed and three more in the works. Two of them should arrive back from heat treat next week, and this one I finished up last night and will ship to heat treat on Monday. It is a blade of O1 steel, 1/8" thick. 9 1/2" overall with a 4 1/2" blade. Bottle opener and Pommel are incorporated in the blade design. This should be an AWESOME camp knife! The scales will be a brown/ black Micarta with decorative mosaic pins. Acid etched and stonewash will finish out the blade!! Here us a preview, feel free to critique! Jim
  11. Thanks for all the comments! I have always been up for anything that is a learning curve challenge, and this is one of the most difficult and also the most rewarding, thanks to all and especially Grand Torino for sharing tips! I'll keep Ya posted on progress! Jim
  12. . Ground out this new shape, next the bevel begins!! Little by little!! Jim
  13. I have both and the 6 inches is my fave! I can really reach out and touch with it. I don't care so much to conceal it, it's more of a woods gun for me.
  14. As GT said, YouTube and Bladeforums. Com are a wealth of info! Enjoy the addiction!
  15. I would say it's "" Spot on"!!!!!!!!!! Lol looks great!
  16. This was a partially finished blank I ordered before I started my file knife. The scales were my first attempt with G-10. It's tough stuff! Blade is 440c stainless. This stuff is FUN!
  17. Well first I must thank Grand Torino, and everyone else who has posted in the knives and bladed tools section, thanks for all the motivation and inspiration! It basically started when my Ginormous knife arrived and I was thinking you know I can do this... Well I got to say I got a lot to learn, but I grabbed an old Nicholson file that I had in my workshop, grab the propane torch and started annealing, and broken that harbor freight 1 x 30" grinder!! I started yesterday afternoon and this is what I've come up with about 24 hours later. I made a jig and started my grind. I made sure to leave some of the final marks on the ninth so we still look cool and the Nicholson name. I didn't really draw anything out I just kind I had an idea in my head. My drillpress arrives tomorrow and I've got scales there epoxying right now, so next will be attaching the scales and then massaging them into shape! What are y'all think? I'm certainly not going to give up my day job but this is really addicting I can tell already!!! Jim PS I heat treated the knife on the knife with a propane torch "well actually two at one time" Quinched in motor oil . I was impatient but hell already tested with a file and is good and hard!
