  1. As some of you may know I have done a few camp style knives lately and with this one I decided to vary the handle a bit. I omitted the Pommel and the bottle opener. This thing fits the hand unbelivelly, even without scales! A little massaging of the choil and off to heat treat it goes! Suggestions for the scales? I'm open!! Jim
  2. I started this really cool blade! I 3 1/2" blade and 7 1/2" overall and THIN! I took a couple of risks with this one. I ground this blade as absolutely as thin as I could so it would be a real slicer, hopefully it won't warp while heat treating. I also did a quick dip in acid and sanded before heat treat to see what kind of color differences I can achieve. I found a small set of Presentation Grade Amboyna Burl, red in color that I will use for scales if all is well when the blade gets back from treating! I think Copper and Stainless Mosaic pins are calling. This should be a beautiful and performing knife! What do ye think? Jim .http://s406.photobucket"
  3. I made a knife a couple of weeks ago and had so much fun with the style that I decided to do another one but kick it up a little more! The knife was a "Persian" style grind and I decided to make the new one longer and the handle a bit slimmer to further exaggerate the lines. It is currently at heat treat and should be back in about a week. When I get it back I'll make the scales out of bone colored Micarta and fine tune the front edge area of the blade on the grinder to make it a proverbial razor!! What do you all think? Jim
  4. I can't stop coming back to look at these!!!
  5. What a fun project! This Persian style is for my lovely wife! Tha scale material is UNBELIVEABLE in person in the light!! It's beautiful! It's Shockres. Interesting stuff, don't know if I would use it again, but she picked it out for her...Girls.........
  6. Why not?? The sky is the limit! At least that's the way I look at it!

  8. People, for those that have purchased one of GTs knives or even handled one, he makes one HELL of a fine knife!!!!
  9. That grind is EFFIN GORGEOUS!!!!! Did you do it on a wheel? And is that a Ferric Chloride etch? Damn that is fine!!!!
  10. Thanks Grand Torino! And thanks for your tips!
  11. Finished up this fun design last night, except for sharpening. 9 1/4" overall with a 4 1/2 " blade of 01 steel. Yellow, OD Green, and Coyote Brown Micarta scales with brass pins and Toxic Green liners. This blade design might not be for everybody with the bottle opener and Pommel, but this design just kinda morphed as I was making it! I am really jazzed about it and so is the new owner that I will deliver it to tomorrow. Here it is for your critiques and viewing pleasure!!
  12. Great lookin cutter there! I like it a lot!!!
  13. I send them off to Peters Heat Treating in Pa. They do an awesome job!
  14. Finished this one yesterday. This little flat grind is a proverbial razor! I am blown away with the edge this blade took! The scales are "Shockwood", an acrylic and wood mixture! Blade is 3 1/2" with an overall length of 7 1/2". 1/4 solid brass pins and epoxy secure the scales. I am offering this knife for sale if you are interested, PM me. Includes sheath. Jim
  15. I have a friend that wanted a very simplistic spearpoint modified blade, Something small, about 3 1/2 inches long 1/8 inch thick. Steel is 01 professionally heat-treated, and cryo to -300 degrees. Scales are a very beautiful black and yellowish burl. Mosaic brass pins compliment the design. Sharpened on the Wicked Edge system! Talking about a slicer!!!!!!!! Thanks Grand Torino for the tips, the pics don't have the edge sharpened yet. Jim More to come!
  16. Thin as sh-t!. I'll show a finished pic on Monday!
