What a fantastic looking system. What a great looking combination , the knife and the sheath. I would be very proud to own that combination any day of the week. We are so fortunate to have such talent on this form here. That Rig should really serve you well! -

8 1/4" overall, 4 1/4" blade, 5/32" thick 01 tool steel off to heat treat tomorrow. REALLY nice file work on spine. Amazing stabilized and dyed Maple scales with beautiful Mosaic pins, this Skinner variation will be your go to BBQ knife but also ready for your next field dressing!! It is available and will include a leather sheath. The epoxy will be dyed black to fill in the negative areas in the file work! This one should not last long! Holler at me! Draons Breath Knives

Morning all. As many of you may know, I have been posting pictures for a little over a year now the knives that I have been making. I have had the pleasure of working with a couple of GREAT guys that do leather work. Because of health issues and well just being too busy with their day jobs, they cannot make sheaths any more. I am in need of someone close to Nashville that will make some sheaths for my knives!I am currently sitting on some orders without leather.HELP! Please contact me if you can help! blessings, Jim Grice

Tell me everything I need to know about hog hunting
sybo replied to Ray Z's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Every year for 10 years I have gone to a preserve in East Tennessee outside of Crossville. The hunting preserve has not only Russian Hogs of full blood European descent,Russian – Feral crosses and I have taken both. I use a 458 Socom, 30-06, 12 gauge, and 460 Smith Magnum pistols. Damn smart animals with incredible noses but if you don't kill them clean they can make you turn into a squirrel really quick. I really like to stalk them, I don't like hunting over bait personally as I am not that patient. Hunting in cooler weather I find to be much more successful than hot weather as they tend to bed down in hot weather and it's hard to kick them up. I find it very rewarding and I love to hike in the hills of the Cumberland Plateau as the terrain on this property is extremely rough in areas. I know there are people that will poo-poo the idea of hunting a fenced in property, but I've been rewarded with plenty of challenge factor on each of the trips I have taken. I look forward to my next hunt as I am steadily cleaning out my freezer of my meat stash. I love me some hog huntin! Here is one of the Sows that I took with the mighty 458 Socom! The area we go is called Loshbough Hunting Lodge. -

Got a "Cool little blade" off to heat treat yesterday and started yet another. I'm digging this file-work! This one will be special!
-
I had some scrap pieces of steel left over so I decided to make a really cool small knife . CPM154 at 6 1/2 inches overall with a two and three-quarter inch blade, yes it's on the small side. I took extra time to really finish this out and to do some decorative file work on the spine. I will use some really fine Burl for the scales in a really nice decorative pin! It is up to heat treat today and when he returns it will be available in the gear classifieds! If you're interested please let me know ! DBK JIM GRICE I this not the coolest "box cutter" you have ever seen?

Finally got around to finish this cool little knife. 3 1/2" blade, 8" overall, CPM 154 steel, hardened to 60 with G-10 scales and deco and brass pins. Strategic scallops on the grip makes the hand lock in the perfect position for hard use! A bit of decorative file work and light Jimping dress it up a bit. It is available and will be listed in the gear classifieds!! -
Springfield here also!!!

I have every 10mm mentioned here except the EAA, my 20 and 29SF are my go to. The 29SF is my carry and my 20 is my Range Rocket! I would go with a little heavier recoil spring in both because I load em HOT! I hope you reload! That's when the fun starts in 10MM. Off the shelf Underwood is my favorite. ENJOY!!!

The sreel is in a "softer" state when we grind the blades. After the desired shape or profile has been achieved, it is hand finished to the desired finish. The blade at that point can be sharpened but will not "hold" an edge. At that point the steel (depending on the type) is heated to a high temp for a specific length of time and then "quenched" in a liquid such as oil and then sometimes cryoed down to 300 degrees below zero. After a few tweaks the target hardness is achieved by changing the "grain" of the steel leaving it much harder and tougher to make a blade that will hold an edge much better! Hope this answers your question! Jim -
