  1. Being that I am usually a quick in, quick out kind of person I took my wife along with her coupon book to Wally world. I was definitely in there more than an hour. LOL It was a little strange at first, but I got used to it rather quickly. I just happened to be faced with a call of nature while there, so bad as it may sound I was curious what others do with their sidearm during, say, a #2? Sorry, I cannot think of a better way to ask....
  2. And today my permit came in... 24 days total. Not too bad, Now it's Wal-Mart time. LOL
  3. What I have put together... 1. Beretta 92fs. 2nd to that would be the Glock. It's high quality for sure, but service life will be an issue and the 92 has the edge there, not to mention the compatibility with mags and parts from US servicemen you might find laying around. If you have the option of a backup gun I would choose the Glock 26 for much the same reason. You are likely to also find glock 9mm mags laying around from time to time. 2. Glenfield model 60. It's the same as the Marlin model 60, except made before 1984. It holds 18 rounds of .22 LR, and is good for all sorts of small game. Very reliable with Federal Bulk copper hollow points. 3. Mosin Nagant 91/30 w/ mil surp silver tip Russian ammo. This gives you the ability to kill anything on this continent. It shoots thru walls, cars, body armor, mild steel, etc.
  4. I cannot speak for others but I personally would notify any LEO that pulled me over of my HCP, along with any and all firearms in the vehicle along with their locations and status. When I was a kid I thought the police were all cool, calm, and collected. Oh, and they ALL carried S&W .44 magnums in shoulder holsters. Years later I look at cops in our small town and realize that a lot of them a scared of their own shadows. They seem to be trained to react to a gun without any regard for context. Therefore, I would want tell them about any weapon I have LONG before they see it, and tell them in a calm, collected voice. In my opinion it's not worth it to do otherwise. Imagine an honest law abiding citizen and an LEO in a firefight over a miscommunication...
  5. I would choose my Beretta 92FS. 9mm is the next cheapest thing to 22. It's about the only semi auto more reliable than a Glock, but there is a trade off. The 92 is a big heavy hoss. If you are not carrying it then there is no issue there.

    Beretta Nano

Yeah, I am a lifetime Beretta fan, but it would take a lot for me to trust their "first ever striker fired gun." It's like buying the first model year of a new car. You know there will be issues.
  7. He lied to you. I know he did not kill every animal in Tennessee because my dog is still here.... Seriously, if he is shooting at deer with a .17 he needs a good a** kicking. We should respect animals more than that. There is no shortage of 30 cals out there.
  8. I have no problem answering this... No, I have never carried without a permit. I believe in working to change unconstitutional laws, but I am not going to blatently break those laws as a means of protesting them. I have to make a living to support my family, and it's hard to do that in the Gray Bar Hotel. I have written a letter, and two members have a copy of it in case I die in an act of violence without having a permit to carry. It states that I am a veteran of the US Army, and have been trained in the use of weapons, and that a large portion of the blame for my death is the responsibility of the state of Tennessee for infringing on my constitutional 2A right to bear arms. Most likely this would do no good, but you can never tell what John Q Public is going to latch onto.
  9. Yeah, it's only been 7 days... But waiting for the permit to come in sucks.
  10. She is full of crap as usual. These reporters need to get beck to reporting and stop stating their opinions as though they were facts.
  11. Shot a mag full at a standard pistol target at 100 yards with my Beretta 92fs. I hit 8 out of 15. LOL
  12. Well, I have long held that the ability for one to keep (own) and bear (carry) a weapon is a right guaranteed us by the constitution of the United States. A right that I, and many others have fought for. Tennessee seems to think that I should pay them money for that right... I have objected for a long time, but finally I gave in. I figure it is better to pay what I should not have to pay than to wish I had later. I took the HCP class yesterday, and actually learned a bit about point shooting they did not teach in the Army. Aside form that my 12 year old would have passed. Today was DMV and prints. So yeah, I am looking forward to getting my permit in the mail. I also ordered a new EDC, as my full size Beretta 92 is a bit of a hoss for carry. I ordered the PX4 Storm Subcompact. I love that it has the same decocker and rotating firing pin that mine does. Afterall, getting shot in a gunfight is one thing, but shooting yourself is really bad.
  13. Hey Tom!
  14. Made it thru... But it was touch and go there for a bit.
  15. Exactly as Dolomite says. We are in a minority here, and it would not hurt to explain to sheeple that as Americans living in Tennessee they can choose to simply not be defenseless. I think we should focus our efforts on recruiting other law abiding Americans to our cause.
  16. Respectfully, I disagree. Many laws are not founded in morality, rather many exist to facilitate freedom, law and order, and security. It could be said that a law making murder illegal is a law based in morality, but they would be missing the point I was making. I was not just using a catch phrase. I meant it literally.
  17. I have noticed the government doing more to encourage their ideas of preparedness. None ever include firearms of course, but they seem to be trying to get the message across....
  18. Personally I have no use for the Senator or the business owner. Yeah, I think his remarks are pig headed, arrogant, misinformed, and a little like the Crusades from the days of old, you know "believe like me or I will make you." I also do not like her turning him out because he does not share her beliefs. Then again I am a total libertarian. I don't care if people are gay or not. the choices of others have nothing to do with my faith in the lord or the life I choose to lead. We cannot legislate morality, and both sides seem to be doing that.
  19. Personally I would look into the Beretta 9mm rifle. Same mags and rounds as my 92fs, but with longer range performance. I really like the idea of a modern pistol rifle matching ammo set up.
  20. I guess my zombie gun would be my Mosin..... If I can get the zombies to line up I am sure to score very well. Multiple kills per shot. LOL After that the Beretta After that the knife After that goodbye cruel world.
  21. Even so I have finally made the decision to pay the state their pound to get the HCP. It's that or go defenseless due to my own principles which seem antiquated...
  22. That is exactly what it has been reduced to. No more than that.
  23. Yeah, I am late, but I just saw this. I am a citizen of the United States of America. Last time I checked the constitution said that my right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The right to bear something means the right to carry something. Now I understand the need to keep as many unstable and/or criminal people from going armed as possible, but make no mistake. It is illegal in Tennessee to go armed, and the HCP is defined as a defense against that law... A law that is in direct conflict with our constitution. It IS my right to carry a weapon, per the constitution, it's just that modern society has chosen to ignore the meaning of the word infringement and instead substituted the word forbidden. This has been done at the local, state and federal level. I am not saying that it is right or wrong, just that as the constitution is written it IS my right. This is my opinion and I do not mean for it to be taken as fact....
  24. I bought my 925fs about a year ago. I love it, and use it as a range gun and a home defense gun. I have put exactly 2,608 round thru it with never a failure of any kind. It is a big, all metal battle pistol, and does that job very well. It is not a carry weapon. It's size gives a long sight radius, and it remains the handgun that I shoot best with. I used several over the years in the Army, and never had any of those fail either. I can think of nothing that I would trade my 92 for. Thing is a Beretta is a fantastic weapon, and so is a Glock, a sig, a Ruger, etc. It's a matter of personal choice.
  25. Buy a used pop up camper for the family and some Mosin ammo... Just sayin./
