Bad Weather West Of Nashville, Hunker Down (Dec 21, 2013)
Will H replied to runco's topic in General Chat
Whew.... It came thru here like a high ballin' freight train. It had us hunkered down in the hall for awhile, and seems to have dropped a tornado a couple of miles away, but no reports of injuries so far, so it could have been worse. -
Yes they are.

I got mine yesterday. I got a 100 box of Hornady 9mm XTP in 115 grain and a pile of brass to load them in. The really cool thing is it was shipped in a Kellogg's box, which is who I work for. It also had two Pringles cans used for packing material, which is what we make. That made it a useful and hilarious gift. Thanks Santa!

Well, we know what this is leading up to...

I have one in .308 with a Bushnell 14x on it. I love the thing.

Cast Boolits and Coffee grounds?
Will H replied to z0mbies fear me's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Out of curiosity what do you usually load with Unique in 308? I have been looking to do the same thing, but I am finding a lot of conflicting load data. i was looking at loading these http://www.falconbullets.com/30_CAL_165_grain_round_nose_flat_point_p/fbc-30-cal-165rnfp.htm starting at 12 grains of Unique and going from there. -
Ordered today drop shipped from Cabela's. They still have free shipping thru tomorrow, AMMO INCLUDED.

It's a moot point now... I was out and about today, and saw this Ruger American in .308. It looked lonely sitting in there with no owner, and well, she followed me home along with a 6-14x scope. I tried to shake her, told myself that I needed to keep saving for an AR, but I could not help it. I was powerless to resist. Now she is propped against my newest $0.00 wood recycling project for my Lee Classic Turret

Thanks again for all the feedback. I find I am meow jammed up on choosing between an AR or a bolt gun in .308. LOL. Choices, choices. Damn I love being an American.

Thanks for the links and advise. Looks like there are more to choose from then I thought. I am thinking that I like the idea of a warranty, so looks like I am going to buy instead of assemble, at least the first one.

I never thought I would say this... I am thinking about getting an AR. For all my love of leverguns and revolvers I am finding the lack of a defensive rifle concerning. I was hoping y'all might have some advice. My experience with the AR is totally restricted to the military, so I don't know much about one other than how to shoot it and clean it. MONEY IS AN OBJECT. This must be as low cost as possible. I am not saying that I don't want to spend a good amount of cash, just saying that I cannot afford to. $700 is it. Aside from money, it is also important to me that the lower is Alum and not poly. I also want a flat top. I have been looking at two options. #1. DPMS Oracle. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/70770/DPMS+Oracle+Semi-Automatic+223+Remington5.56+NATO+30%2B1+Cap #2. Del-Ton M4 rifle kit. https://www.del-ton.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RKT100-C I would then have to get a lower, of course. Opinions? Other options? Also, what difference does a 1:7 or a 1:9 barrel make?

I bought two of them. One for me, and one for my dad. His is a six shot and mine is a 9 shot. They shoot fine, and are cheap fun range toys. That's all. Nothing as grand as the Rugers, and nowhere near the cost. This is the one I got for my dad. Mine is exactly the same, only moar bullets = moar fun.

I missed this thread until now, but here is my last one. 2ID, D-Btry 5/5 ADA, Camp Stanton/Stanley ROK. 1993-1994

I might get a rash of crap for this, but I do not consider the Glock or the AR to be dependable enough firearms for this. If you guarantee that the distance is no more than 20 miles then they are fine, but if the distance could be more, or there is the possibility of being cut off totally I would feel a lot better with my GP100 in .357 magnum. A Glock is a fine pistol, but the GP100 brings a durability that no semi auto can come close to. I also know the modern AR is not as pisspoor as the M16A2 I carried in the Army was, but I would also include a 12 gauge with an array of ammo from birdshot to slugs in case he needs to go off in a different direction with little hope of returning home. Just my opinion of course

Yeah, she was wrong, but at the same time his disrespectful behavior was uncalled for. If he is going to represent himself as a vet he should be more mindful of his military bearing.

I used to love going to Shoney's on Vets day..... I might be part of the reason the local one closed. LOL

My EDC is a Ruger SR9c. Love it and would not trade it for anything. American made, in America, by Americans, working for an American company. It gets no better.

I loved doing this last year, so I am totally in.

The new Magical James Yeager round prototype!
Will H replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I managed to watch the whole video. It sucked so bad I thought I would fold and run away, but I hung in there. I am proud of myself, and will be adding this test of human endurance to my resume. -
Huh... Strange. Back when it was this man's army they just taught us how to kill the other guys and patch up our guys. Times have changed I guess.
