1. I am going to start off very simple, and only for .38 spl.  I bought a pound of Unique powder, a box of 100 Hornady bullets (the only kind they had) three boxes of CCI small pistol primers, and ordered a Lee manual reloader along with their powder measuring spoons.  I went with the manual kit to begin with due to money, but also due to the fact that I would want one even if I had a press.  I like the idea of being able to eventually reload in the field.   The test gun will be my Ruger GP100, just in case I overload I would not want to blow a Rossi to smithereens.  LOL   I am sure to have some questions along the way, and sorry if some seem a bit dumb.  Here are a couple to begin with...   Anyone have a good base recipe for Unique in .38 spl? Where can I find a chart for CC vs. Grains for unique? The manual kit says not to use it in basically anything but a revolver...  Why?
2. It is possible, but very highly doubtful.  IMO
3. I think we are going to look into home schooling more seriously.
4. I am kind of the same way.  I manage to make it to the range about twice a month, and drop right at 300-500 .22's and about 1 mag thru my EDC, so figure 28 rounds a month.
5. That looks awesome, but I am not sure my wife's 4x4 Trailblazer would make it with it's standard ride height, and am think my Cobalt with it's 3 inch drop would be totally SOL.
6. This is why I love our FOP range.  Everyone is safe, yet chill and there is plenty of BSn with other shooters.  No one yells their head off about if the range is hot or cold.  It's like 20 years ago.  If you need to go down range it's nods and hand waves all around.  No one shoots anything they are not supposed to, and everyone is considerate of who is there for pistol or rifle.  It's like 1985 all over again.  Of course to listen to some modern shooters it's amazing we all did not kill ourselves back then.
7.         I tried to add a new dynamic, .45 vs. .357 magnum, but alas, no takers.
8. It has always confounded me why people talk about how they want a .45 for stopping power over the puny 9mm.  If you are concerned with stopping power why not carry a .357 with federal 125 grain JHP?  You don't get a better rep than that.  There is a reason it was dubbed the "magic bullet."   Now, liking the 1911 as a range run?  Oh yeah, I can totally dig that.  In fact I want one too.  I want one of those on the cheaper side like Dolomite was talking about, like a RIA maybe.   Saying outright that 1911's suck is like saying a 57 Chevy or a 70 Plymouth Superbird sucks.  They are classics and deserve, imo, a degree of admiration.  Still, a 1911 as a modern fighting pistol?  There seems to be better choices out there, but again, imo
9. There are exceptions to every rule.  That said I am sure there are a couple of 1911's out there that would run reliably all day.
10.
Self driving cars? F- that! Even in 2030, if it doesn't have a manual transmission, I don't want any part of it.
Exactly. My wife saw an article saying that the manual transmission was on it's way out with the exception of high end sports cars. I told her no problem, I will just keep my little Cobalt forever.
11. I could really use a gun lamp for my desk.
12. I was just thinking this weekend that my carry rounds are about a year old and I need to replace them soon. Then I got home. And checked the mail... Oh heck yeah! Exactly what I was needing. It did not say who sent it as it was drop shipped, so whoever you are THANK YOU!
13.
buy ammo at your local gun store, support mom and pops
I try this... But they have even less ammo on hand than WM does.
14. I saw the title of this thread and wondered what jackhole called Chuck Yeager a coward. I was about to get a case of the ass.
15.
My range in Memphis allows for drawing IF you have taken an advanced handgun class.
Things like this make me glad I shoot at unstructured outdoor ranges.
16. You know I look at some of these posts and I wonder if we are not seeing a clash of cultures in some cases. I may only be 37, but I am much more of the old school thought that says a legally armed civilian is not a threat, and is a pretty normal thing. There was a time that the fact you were legally armed was not a big deal, and not something that would concern most LEOs. Now we live in a different world now. We have police departments being trained by Special Forces Operators, and trading their shotguns for M4s. I recently asked a LEO that works at our LGS if they were concerned about over penetration with those things and he looked at me like I was speaking Latin or something. The world has changed, and imho we need to change with it. Police are now trained that ALL weapons are a threat. That's not their fault. It's just the way they are trained. Any of us that have severed know that there is a VERY big difference between LEO training and combat training. That difference is starting to become blurred. We had a sobriety check point here recently, and I was approached by a LEO. The very first thing that I did was inform. The sudden look of fear on his face made me feel sorry for him. He had been casual in his approach, but as soon as the words were out of my mouth his hand fell to his sidearm. In response to this I simply said "I am legally armed and of no threat to you or anyone else sir." He did not act on his fear, just told me to move along. It was not a lack of courage on his part, just a result of training. I think that as our society has moved toward a belief that guns are the problem and not people, and so have the police in some fashion. I think that it is important to remember that 90% of LEOs are on our side and we should cut them some slack. All that said, this is only my opinion and means nothing.

Yeah, I gotta get some!
18. It is fun. I myself am quite excited about it.

New "woods" gun

The fiber optic was on there when I got it. I have the original one too, but have left this one on for now. I really like the sight picture on the fiber optic. It's very bright in most lighting.
20. I see him all the time on the Outdoor Network.

New "woods" gun

Thanks for the holster recommendations. I am seriously looking at the Combat Master from Galco and the Pancake from Simply Rugged. The chest rig would be excellent for the bush, but a good one is a bit too much for me to pay.
22. I am excited, so I gotta share. I decided that my 9mms were just fine for the urban jungle, but that I would like to have something larger for the woods as my wife and I have gotten into bushcraft pretty heavy. I was carrying my Storm Subcompact with +P+ ammo, but I really wanted something more classic. I wanted a magnum. Did I need a magnum? No, but what does that matter? This is my new to me Ruger GP100 4". I love this thing. It's a bit of a hoss, but perfect for the woods. I traded for it even up, giving up my Beretta 92FS. All in all I feel I traded well. Now to just find a holster for this cannon. LOL
23.
I often read things two or three times due to my low comprehension. My cross to bare, I suppose.
Sorry, I know yall are being serious, but this statement was funny as heck. I'm gonna use it on my wife next time she gets mad about something.
24. Thank goodness for the US government. If left to my own devises I might make my own machine gun, which of course would be an international incident, cause mass extension of the spotted owl, the ocean levels would go up another 3 feet, and 1.6 million innocent people would be slaughtered. All without me firing a round.
25. Welcome to the forum.
