Like Garufa, I've got it bad. I had been happy with Rugers for a decade. Then, I handled a 3" KC over at the Armory in Nashville.

The Ruger Mark guns are neat, but to me their design makes disassembly unreasonably difficult. If I were buying a .22 just for fun, I might go with a Ruger Charger.

Appreciate all the responses. Felines, I reached out to Mr. Dyer today. That was a good lead - many thanks.

I appreciate that and might end up going that route if I can't find someone willing to work on it. Unfortunately I've just never worked on one, and I'm willing to pay a mechanic some bucks to get up and running quickly.

It's a '98 75 hp Force.

Does anybody have a good marine mechanic around Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, etc.? I'm having trouble with a 75 hp outboard and power trim on a little boat and need to call in the big guns. Thanks for any recommendations.

Like Skyhunter, "happy Memorial Day" doesn't sit well with me. I tend to wish people "a peaceful Memorial Day" - usually in parting, not as a greeting.

Given the ballistics, I can understand the value of the XM250 as compared to a 249. It's harder for me to understand moving regular infantry units from a 6.5 lbs M4 over to the 10 lbs XM7 - and even more so an Air Assault unit like the 101st. Like with a macinegun, a fire team or designated marksman is one thing, but the whole unit? Light infantry actually has an important role, and when you're on a patrol, extra weight is the enemy.

Hope there's good weather for the next few weeks. I'm about to be in the doghouse!

Hey Smith, very cool K6! I don't know if you remember my little Ruger .357 from our days at the store, but I still carry it more often than anything else. Congrats on the stellar new revolver that'll always get the job done.

Lib SCOTUS Justices Clueless About Bump Stocks
Wheelgunner replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This. And fortunately, we just might have a majority of them who are willing to do that job. The Bruen decision begs the question - at the time of the founding, was any whole class of guns widely outlawed because you could fire them quickly? -
The Crimson Trace feature is neat, but really it's a belly gun. Works reliably. I think a safety on this kind of handgun is overkill, but if you use a good holster you can leave the safety off. FWIW, ball ammo is what I prefer in a .380 for max penetration.

Welcome, Matt. Glad you found TGO. Give me a shout if you ever want to meet up at a range in Gallatin, Hendersonville, etc. -
Things the next generation simply won't understand
Wheelgunner replied to NoBanStan's topic in General Chat
Oh man, more importantly... they won't know how aggravating it is when someone asks you for a cigarette and then immediately after you give him one, asks you for a light. -

What kind of holster for working outside?
Wheelgunner replied to Darrell's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
@ Darrell - Even in overalls, etc. you can wear a gun belt and holster. It just sits on your hips instead of on belt loops. A U.S. Army general issue riggers belt and inexpensive drop-leg holster might be just the thing. -
Thoughts on the recent Hybrid / EV registration penalty?
Wheelgunner replied to Erich's topic in General Chat
The problem with asking government to make responsible decisions with finances is that they can require people to give more revenue in the future to cover whatever costs are chosen. In a private company, the revenue is what you have and you have to work within those limitations. It requires a bit more ingenuity. Consider the Victory Memorial Bridge in Nashville. It has a flex lane whose direction changes depending on time of day (i.e. which way most people need to travel). That provides the value of two lanes of traffic but at the cost of only one. We don't need more fees and taxes. We need more ingenuity. -

For someone who has learned the basics of firearm safety, I think a .22 or .38 revolver with a 3-4" barrel is a great first handgun to buy. They're simple to operate, can be inexpensive to buy, and don't require complex maintenance. The harder question is which gun is the last one to buy. I still haven't figured that one out.
