  2. Bad place to get a brass burn. If I were a girl and my boyfriend set me up to be burned there, I'd shoot him too! Next time, if there is a next time, I imagine she'll button the top button or wear a turtleneck. The whole situation is certainly a relationship test.
  3. At 65 miles or so from Clarksville, I'm thinking that the Reloaders Bench, at 201 Mt. Juliet Rd, Mt Juliet, Tennessee 37122 might just be in range. They are really nice folks and have a good selection. (You beat me to it, WestWindMike)

  5. Awesome day. A fair number of young ones shooting under the strict supervision of their parents and other adults. Range was neat, clean, orderly, well managed; range users were respectful of range owners' rules and property. Beautiful, sunny, cool day. Excellent food and plenty of it; nicely, cleanly laid out. Awesome! I'm adding in pictures, please bear with me I haven't done this a lot. Members in pictures are encouraged to identify themselves, I didn't get everyone's name. If there is a picture that needs to be pulled, tell me why in a pm.
  6. Tell him face to face before you lose him . . . his reaction might be different than what you'd expect. Or not. My son's just a couple of years older than you, and a Marine. He's a Jedi Knight, going to save the universe from the dark side. I try to tell him that every once in a while.
  7. Ha, ha, ha. It could be as simple as printing out a copy of the excellent TGO Logo from the website and pin it to your collar. Yeah, a little lame. If I were going to make logo'd items for TGO, I'd start with a good thread-count embroidered version of the TGO logo on a black ovalled rectangle with a silver border. Members could put it on a hat or sew it to their motorcycle jacket. No bigger than 1 inch by 3 inches, or so. And, I'd make a rather small cloisonne' metal pin of the TGO logo. Suitable for sticking in your hat, or in the lapel of your suit jacket or coat. I imagine the cost would have to be kept under control, and perhaps if a modest cost could be included in the benefactor fee or sold separately. Of course, these are just thoughts, probably already thought of and I just haven't seen the thread, and I don't have the financial burden of the forum. Whoever came up with the original logo did a real good job, in my opinion.
  8. Congratulations! Build your portfolio. No, actually, BUILD your portfolio. Your first client is yourself. Do good work for those who employ you, but hold on to your images and organize them properly to help you with future opportunities, for future opportunities will come.
  9. I'd like to come . . . Can we pay for a range membership at this time?
  10. What's the black loop-thing on the slide? Is that for . . . speed-racking?(??). . . the slide?? Is it pinch-bolted on or drilled on?? Never saw anything like that.
  11. Is there a secret sign or a secret handshake for other TGO Forum members? Here's the RK Shows calendar, if the posting rules allow: Tennessee Show Dates
  12. That's awesome, and they get their 10 percent above their cost, you get what you want, they're your supplier, you don't shop elsewhere, and everybody eats.
  13. IMO, Well, the local shop's got the FFL and we don't. Factor in the cost of getting an FFL ourselves and go through all the hassle and expense. We could get in a situation where a local shop would do the FFL transfer for a fee that will make up the same profit they'd have if they ordered the item in to sell to us at their markup. Just price the FFL transfer service for what the market will bear. If we don't want to meet that price for the FFL transfer we'd shop elsewhere and they wouldn't lose money on the transaction. Everyone's got to eat. Generally, we ought to be willing to pay a few dollars more for an item from a local shop as the local shop doesn't charge us $20 every time we ask a half-hour's worth of advice about something. It is the height of bad manners and just bad business to burn up counter time from a shop and get good advice, and then order it online for a better price. And, people DO that, all the time. "I'm just watching out for myself to get the best price." No, not really. You're burning up a shop's time-is-money for no return on their part. IMO.
  14. This seems like it couldn't be more perfect for the anti-gun crowd than if it was set up this way. I'm not saying that it was a setup, I'd reserve that for the hard-ball National-level politicians and their operatives. Gad, at least he didn't have the pistol in a holster on his belt. Sounds like he had forgotten, picture looks like he was intoxicated enough to have forgotten, he had left the .38 in the car. Stupid. If not for his own sake, for the sake of others, he could have thought ahead and put it in the trunk and taken a taxi home. I wonder who he was out drinking with? Surely not with his wife, she'd have driven him home, or a staffer, who would have driven him home. So, he's with a crowd that lets him make a fool of himself like this? So, he's stupid enough to drink with a crowd that won't back him up? Double stupid on his part. Not only does he bear personal responsibility for something this stupid, he has the added responsibility of being an elected representative, and an elected representative doing something stupid regarding an issue that he's worked on. A lot of people count on their elected representatives. He's damaged others as much or more than he's damaged himself. If this situation is as it's been reported -- than he needs to resign in the next 24-48 hours and apologized publicly to the people of Tennessee. If he doesn't do it willingly, he needs to be prodded and embarrassed by his party into resigning.
  15. The Iranian plot dog and pony show was clearly timed to overshadow the Fast'n'Furious subpoenas. When you set up a puppet show, you're supposed to hide the strings.

  17. Here it comes! Congressional Investigators To Subpoena Holder In Fast And Furious Probe | Fox News Congressional investigators probing the failed anti-gunrunning operation Fast and Furious are sending a new subpoena to Attorney General Eric Holder -- seeking communications from about a dozen top Justice Department officials, including Holder; his chief of staff, Gary Grindler; and the head of the department's criminal division, Lanny Breuer, Fox News has learned. The subpoena, which could be filed as early as Tuesday, will focus on the Justice Department. The first and only subpoena issued so far dealt with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. That subpoena was issued back in March. In the new subpoena, congressional investigators will apparently demand information regarding the investigation into the death of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Two guns found at Terry's crime scene were linked to the failed operation that allowed more than 2,000 weapons to "walk." The subpoena is expected to ask for correspondence that Justice Department officials had with the White House about the gun trafficking operation, as well as what information was shared by Justice officials in Mexico. The new subpoena follows a week of back and forth between congressional investigators and Justice Department officials of "who knew what, when." Under scrutiny was Holder's testimony from May 3 when he told Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., that he "probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks." Fox News obtained documents addressed to Holder as early as nine months before that, which described the concept of Operation Fast and Furious. On Friday, Holder sent a letter to congressional investigators stating that he does not read every document addressed to him and that they are reviewed by members of his staff. Holder went on to say that none of the reports mentioned the controversial tactics used in Fast and Furious. On Monday, Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is investigating the scandal, replied to Holder in a letter saying, "Operation Fast and Furious was the department's most significant gun trafficking case. Whether you realize yet or not, you own Fast and Furious. It is your responsibility.” Issa told "Fox News Sunday" that he was going to issue the subpoena to find out why the top Justice officials are "denying knowing about something that they were briefed on?" "We want to know what and when they knew it," he said. "But more importantly, we have to understand -- at what level of the authorization really come? It wasn't an ATF operation. They were part of that. It was a joint operation in which DEA knew more than ATF." In addition to the congressional investigation being led by Issa and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, is calling for a special counsel to look into the matter.
  18. Dead's dead. It's not against the law to kill dead people; they're already dead. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  19. Regarding the State Parks "Exception 4": ******************************* Exception 4: While State Parks' rules and regulations prohibit firearm possession and use, Public Chapter 428 of 2009 created an exception in state firearms law that allows individuals with a valid "carry permit" under TCA § 39-17-1351 to carry a handgun within the boundaries of all state parks. While this new law makes an exception for possession, it does not make exception to the use of a firearm. Discharging a weapon in non-designated areas of our parks is still an offense. If a permit holder fires a weapon in self-defense, the holder bears the burden of proof to avoid potential charges under "prohibited firearm use." ******************************* It sounds like they got dragged into that kicking and screaming. Regarding the part that says: "If a permit holder fires a weapon in self-defense, the holder bears the burden of proof to avoid potential charges under "prohibited firearm use." I'm not sure that's exactly right. I've read elsewhere (help, please?) that using a gun in self-defense is an "affirmative defense" to other gun possession charges. I've also read that the burden of proof for self-defense gun use is on the prosecutor. Maybe I'm mixing my States up. . . .
  20. I'd rather you all see this twice, instead of not at all. Have not seen a previous post: Issa to Holder: “You Own Fast and Furious.” Congressman Issa reading ag holder the riot act. Issa to Holder:
  21. "It's not the crime, it's the cover-up." And cover it up is what it has been. Holder and Obama are tied at the waist. One makes all the illegalities legal, the other one pardons everyone at the end. Lose one, lose the other, and they all end up in prison, or executed for treason. Treason is still susceptible to the Death Penalty, death by hanging, it's understood.
  22. Shame on you. That's not very nice. Clearly, that's a boy's hat.
  23. If you ever thing you are not bright enough to run for congress, take a fresh look as some of these lunatics.
  24. A WHOLE lot better than a lot of the beer-bellied old men who hang around TGO -- myself included.
