Do we yet know what this was all about? Was the perpetrator a regular, or a dismissed employee, or a locally known crazy?

Warms my heart. Warning: Professionals at work. Don't try this at home.

Uuuhhh, we can't ask Custer's men, . . . 'cause they're all dead . . . (??) That copper-cased ammo jamming in the hot guns. It's a shame the war department was so cheap they didn't provide lever-actions like the Indians had . . .

I'm also thinking we're stepping pretty quickly out of Iraq, maybe there are manufacturer's over-runs and real Government Surplus once again. I'm thinking this is the stuff that the GI's use.

I'm thinking he tries to pull the Kentucky Capitol stunt, he ought to be "restrained" and in the interests the safety of himself and others, be involuntarily admitted to a mental hospital for 72 hours of evaluation. Once that is done, I don't believe he'd qualify for a handgun or concealed carry permit ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY, and, pending the outcome of his mental health evaluation, could lose the right to firearms of any sort for the rest of his life. Me personally, I'd be interested in such an outcome. I think such an outcome would be preferable to him carrying openly into the Kentucky Capitol, being told to drop the weapon, he decide to be cute and argue the point, and get shot to death for his stupidity. After all, . . . it would be a burden on the officer.

Are those Concealed Carry Badges around their necks??!! -
Nothing personal, but I've got a pair of Handi Rifles, one in .223 and one in .308. I like em just fine, and the .308 especially shoots well. They're so simple and straightforward there just isn't a lot to go wrong with them. If you still have the .223, have you considered an exorcist?

If this all got triggered because some nervous nellie thought you looked too young to be packing, laugh now and wait a few years -- you'll be glad in about 20 years when people guess low on your age.

My Apt Complex says I can't have my gun in the apartment.

I am truly sorry you are having to go through this hassle. Perhaps its all part of that karmic balance that goes with your run of extraordinary luck you have previously described. That being said, you are performing an excellent service for the rest of us by outlining the ins and outs of this, and by drawing the best ideas out of the rest of us. I recommend you get a referral from people you trust to a lawyer they trust that works this type of issue. I'm thinking that $200 for a lawyer's letter might sound steep, but you'd be surprised how quickly things can get straightened out when a good lawyer steps in. Sometimes there is a lot more to "writing a letter" than you might think. I had a situation at work a few years ago that was going south and was clearly wrong. I had previously worked with a real estate attorney and asked him for a referral to a lawyer who had expertise in this new issue. He referred me to the best one he knew. I paid her . . . around $200 as a retainer. She made a couple of inquiries and a couple of phone calls. Two days later, the company's lawyer called me all sweetness and light saying it had all been a total misunderstanding and how he had no idea how things had gotten to this point and let's all have coffee together and forget about it. Best $200 I ever spent. -

I'm not a lawyer. However, talk to one. If the apartment management will evict you for carrying a handgun, MAKE them evict you. My understanding is that once evicted, you are off the hook for the lease and the remaining rent. I wouldn't execute a plan like this unless I knew in advance that I wouldn't be on the hook for the rest of the rent. If you've not been troublesome and have payed your rent on time, and if it's hard for an apartment to get reliable renters, you might even be calling their bluff. They might bargain with you, in writing this time. Right now, it's easier to bully you back down instead of losing your three rent-paying roommates. If you make them evict you, you might get the financial aspect to swing your way. You can probably then negotiate the terms of your "eviction." You certainly don't want them bad-mouthing you after you leave. You may also be doing folks across the state a service, a new and innovative way to break a lease! Have another place lined up, read the lease first. If your parents are only 35 miles away in Spring Hill, you at least have a backup living arrangement. -
Uh, what's the chromed shield in the picture? It almost looks like the Air Force - Aerospace Defense Command shield . . . . (??) can't quite make it out.

You know, they've gone 15 years without a nationwide test. Why now? I don't trust Napolitano or Holder or . . . Obama as far as I can throw them. They say it's one thing, and you find out it's another.

You take the best pictures with the camera you have with you, not the one you left at home. A really good point and shoot in your wife's purse or pocket takes better pictures than a digital single lens reflex in its camera bag in the closet. I know first hand. I have both. You have to be pretty committed and single minded to pack up and carry around the DSLR and its kit. The good point and shoot follows you wherever. And, with technology, they're getting better and better.

Something to consider: High end point and shoot, takes the place of a DSLR in 90 percent of the cases: Nikon P7100 Compact Digital Camera | New Point and Shoot Camera Canon makes something similar.

And, of course, the incident is being discussed on TGO and a whole lot of other people are reconsidering shopping at the Stones River Mall, perhaps. I am not sure how well that particular mall is doing. On the other hand, Hickory Hollow Mall let things get totally out of control and you can be sure the Stones River Mall doesn't want to turn out like Hickory Hollow Mall.

Another survivor. Good on you! Did the dentist let you keep the teeth so you could make a little necklace out of them?
