I really appreciate it when my wife goes shooting with me. And, yes, she does know how to clean her own gun. What do you all think about cleaning your wife's gun for her after the shoot from time to time? Is it a gesture of love, or is it allowing her to evade a primary responsibility? I know she doesn't care for the smell of Hoppe's No. 9 as much as I do. I know that when she cooks, I'll clean the dishes. When I barbecue, she'll do prep work and the side dishes. I also know that my son the Marine is pretty hard over on "Don't let the sun set on a dirty gun" and that everyone is responsible for their own. I don't know if this is a Glock vs 1911 topic, but it might be . . . Thoughts?

First of all, active duty personnel and active reserve and guardsmen don't participate in these protests. It's against the law. There are sanctions, and this is taken seriously. Second of all, regarding those who CLAIM they are military veterans, it's best to VERIFY they are ACTUALLY military veterans, let alone honorably discharged vets. It's easy enough to go to a military surplus store and snag an old BDU shirt and claim to be a vet. Hardly no one ever checks, so it's an easy lie, and it makes for great street theater.

As previously posted: EMP in 9mm is my daily carry. Form follows function: it is a beautiful gun, very well made, with tight tolerances. Yes, have the feedramp polished, shiny and smooth. It's integral to the barrel and kind of steep -- you don't want hollow points hanging up on it because of boogers of some sort. The gun when brand new is SO TIGHT that you will want to put about 200 rounds through it to loosen it up. After that, it runs like a Rolex watch. It has a bushingless 'bull' barrel, and is very accurate. You can get all sorts of snazzy grips for it, but I just love the looks of the SA crossed-cannon logo grips in cocobolo. Did I mention it's beautiful??
