Do Jeep Cherokees count? We've got a 1999, 2000 and a 2001. They run and run and run. Used to have a 1994 and a 1995, I think a church lady is still driving one. Used to have a 1951 Willys CJ-3A flat-fendered jeep and wish I still did. My son signed the title over to his fiancee when he went into the Marines . . . and clearly she ain't his fiancee anymore, but she still has the Jeep. It's probably rotting in a Nebraska cornfield now. Oh well. I'll get another some day.

How Hard Is It to Get Special Deputy Commission?
QuietDan replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
From the article: "State law allows sheriffs to issue special deputy cards to qualified people with no criminal history. The law also mandates special deputies have a $50,000 surety bond and qualify annually on a firing range. [sheriffs] can conscript special deputies into service during times of emergency. Before the state adopted handgun carry permits in 1996, special deputy cards were considered a political plum doled out to supporters. But with the advent of handgun carry permits, the special deputy cards lost their allure. Special deputy cards, however, do provide more authority than a handgun carry permit. Holders of special deputy cards can possess a firearm wherever a law enforcement officer can, such as at a public building, public park or state university. Handgun carry permits do not allow the holder to go armed in those areas." So, what's the name and the political persuasion of YOUR county sheriff? Sounds like knowing that is the first step on the road to Special Deputy. -

Other websites and blogs are picking up on the CBS story: Was Fast and Furious All About Gun Control? | Power Line John Hinderaker writes that if Fast & Furious is about the politics of gun control, then it is probably the worst Scandal since BEFORE the Civil War: "If the Obama administration did arrange for the shipment of arms to Mexican drug gangs, not for any legitimate public purpose but in order to advance a left-wing political agenda, and those guns were used to murder hundreds of Mexicans and at least one American border agent–which they were–then we are looking at a scandal that dwarfs any in modern American history. I think one would have to go back to James Buchanan, who ordered the shipment of federal armaments to the South so that they could be commandeered by secessionists when disunion came, to find a worse scandal."

Ok, FINALLY, the mainstream media is picking up on the evil political gun control rationale behind Operation Fast and Furious. This article may not tell gun owners anything they didn't already know or suspect, but it's being distributed by a major broadcast television network: Documents: ATF used "Fast and Furious" to make the case for gun regulations - CBS News Investigates - CBS News This is the beginning of the end for the evil Attorney General Eric Holder. In its own way, Operation Fast and Furious is bigger and more sinister than Watergate. In my opinion, Holder . . . and Napolitano . . . and especially OBAMA should lose their jobs over this.

I'm looking forward to seeing the show that covers this . . . .

Consider getting a hold of NRA-ILA folks. This issue surely comes up all over the country and I imagine they have quality lingo they can lay on you so you don't have to re-invent the wheel. They might also have tried and true strategies and tactics to help you avoid pitfalls along the way.

Extremely nice. Very powerful Weapon you have there . . . Tyrants and Dictators fear that video camera, (the Press) more than they fear firearms. That's why the Press is protected under the First Amendment, and Firearms are protected under the Second Amendment. Relative order of importance.

When's the next show, so we'll know not to go?? And where? Are they only at the Nashville Fairgrounds or do they ride a circuit?

Bob Pope in the Tennessean talking about private sales
QuietDan replied to shortround's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So, what does Bob Pope do now? Should we make arrangements to not do business with him? This might also explain some of the fun and games one of our members went through at the Nashville Fairgrounds gunshow, as described in another thread. -
Do you sometimes clean your wife's gun for her after shooting together?
QuietDan replied to QuietDan's topic in General Chat
WyattEarp (and others), Regarding spouse: It makes me happy to make her happy, and then, sometimes, she makes me VERY VERY Happy. In that special way that a lot of guys seem to like. Frankly, I'm hooked. And, since making her happy to make me happy has been going on for more than 35 years, I occasionally get VERY VERY Happy without having to go bottom trolling in bars and get in fist fights with big drunk guys. If I have a chance to make her happy by cleaning her gun (and putting the dirty clothes in a laundry basket instead of draping them all over the house), then that makes me happy, and sometimes, just sometimes, VERY VERY Happy. Are we communicating here? Good. 'Cause that makes me happy. But only a little bit. -

Step Away From that Pot Scrubber and Nobody Gets Hurt
QuietDan replied to analog_kidd's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is what happens when the feds don't have enough to do. They start making things up. Now, they'll have to hire a few more drones to keep up with the rule and inspection thereof. -
Well, that's a keeper! Another quote that applies to guns AND women!

A story about "The Freedom Group" buying up all sorts of gun and gun supply companies. And, to what end? There's some speculation that the George Soros affiliated organization might be buying up weapons companies to begin denying guns and supplies to private citizens. Read the (long) story and make up your own mind. Also might explain why we're starting to see Bushmasters and Remington ammo in WallyWorld. How Freedom Group Became the Big Shot | HeraldTribune.com

QuietDan replied to Steelharp's topic in General Chat
My wife works at NSAI, Nashville Songwriter's Association International. A lady who works with her has the specific info you want. Monday morning, call NSAI at 615-256-3354 and speak to Debi Cochran about recapture. -
