Man shoots 3 kids when they try to steal motorcycle
QuietDan replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This is a badly written story, with details from the dead perp's past crimes blended haphazardly into the story. He's certainly not a child. I think even the headline writer got a little confused. "Kids" in the title is just wrong. And, the newspaper has turned off comments on the story, probably out of fear of collecting a lot of "good riddance to bad rubbish" comments. -
Here's a very good piece I've not seen anywhere else: The gun is civilization I believe this to be true, but I've never seen it so well-put.

If arson as suspected, I hope they catch the dirt-bag soon. Prayers to all affected.

So the lawless, corrupt, biased, EVIL Attorney General Holder and his corrupt "Justice" department passes judgement on South Carolina? Is that what we're saying here? -

Washington Times KUHNER: Obama’s Watergate Officials cover up culpability for gun smuggling and murder A year ago this week, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered. He died protecting his country from brutal Mexican gangsters. Two AK-47 assault rifles were found at his death site. We now know the horrifying truth: Agent Terry was killed by weapons that were part of an illegal Obama administration operation to smuggle arms to the dangerous drug cartels. He was a victim of his own government. This is not only a major scandal; it is a high crime that potentially reaches all the way to the White House, implicating senior officials. It is President Obama’s Watergate. Operation Fast and Furious was run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and overseen by the Justice Department. It started under the leadership of Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. Fast and Furious enabled straw gun purchases from licensed dealers in Arizona, in which more than 2,000 weapons were smuggled to Mexican drug kingpins. ATF claims it was seeking to track the weapons as part of a larger crackdown on the growing violence in the Southwest. Instead, ATF effectively has armed murderous gangs. About 300 Mexicans have been killed by Fast and Furious weapons. More than 1,400 guns remain lost. Agent Terry likely will not be the last U.S. casualty. Dems losing mind over new Voter ID laws...

How can you make a statement such as this, repeatedly, without offering evidence, when others offer clear and convincing evidence to the contrary, to include: Tenn. Voter Corruption Found Statewide - NewsChannel5.com | Nashville News, Weather & Sports Do you hold some sort of basic, religious belief involving the absence of voter fraud? If you were unable to continue this belief, would your head explode? Does someone in your immediate family hold elective office? Please explain or elaborate upon your otherwise seemingly irrational maintenance of this view. Your persistence in this view in spite of evidence to the contrary leaves me, and perhaps others, befuddled and amazed. -
This^^^^. My son believed for his young years and then reluctantly began to question Santa, not wanting the gifts to end was a part of this, I suppose. We told him that when he knew the truth, he had the opportunity to BECOME Santa himself, and continue the myth for the benefit of younger children. He accepted this willingly, and is very charitable and giving and sacrificial in his own right. He's a true custodian of the Christmas spirit. Frankly, as a Marine (not forgetting the Marine-sponsored Toys for Tots campaign) he's helped to bring the gift of Freedom to children on far shores. And, there's this, a grace note to the Santa myth: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F0yEiHzEaRc/TQ-7E520bsI/AAAAAAAAEB8/TDHOhV3pRrY/s1600/santa_kneeling_lg.jpg

Dems losing mind over new Voter ID laws...
QuietDan replied to MattCary's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Wrong. Just . . . Wrong. And Revisionist. President Lincoln didn't have the executive power in the North to free the slaves; it couldn't be done by the executive, i.e. the President. It had to be accomplished by the legislature, i.e. the Congress. However, the South was in Rebellion, and as Commander in Chief, Lincoln, under military rules, with an Executive Order, could Emancipate the slaves. The main point being, Lincoln, for the times, was the best President for the North . . . and the South. John Wilkes Booth did an incredible disservice for the South when he assassinated President Lincoln. The Union administration of the South after President Lincoln's death was much harsher than President Lincoln had planned. REGARDLESS, to this day, and across this nation, there are unbelievable levels of voter fraud in this country. To deny it is to be naive, or complicit. -

Unfortunately, voter fraud is NOT very rare. There are any number of cases available on the web that describe just how prevalent voter fraud is, and it's scary. A recent story involving the county including Houston, Texas: A nonprofit group was given access to the voter database, and was just searching for those addresses that had . . . ten or more registered voters at one address. In the county, they found THOUSANDS. Statistically, this is very odd. VERY VERY ODD. Then, the nonprofit folks went to the various addresses that had ten or more voters, and found in many cases, one- and two-bedroom homes that couldn't possibly have that many people living at them, even allowing for poverty or other reasons. It all turned into a big scandal with a lot of recriminations tossed back and forth. To top it all off, prior to a major primary election, the Houston-area warehouse that stored all the voting machines for the county and multiple city jurisdictions BURNED TO THE GROUND in a general alarm fire. It turned into a huge scamble just to get enough voting machines to hold the election, and there wasn't enough time to properly investigate the fraud allegations and a lot of the evidence BURNED UP IN THE FIRE. This describes ONLY ONE of the MULTIPLE instances of voter fraud across the country, available for all to see who choose to look. Just for starters: http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Harris-County-officials-scramble-after-voting-1695734.php http://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherhelman/2010/08/30/suspicious-fire-ignites-houston-voting-fraud-scandal/ And there's more on this in Houston. And, there's more across the country. It is beyond ridiculous to suggest anything other than VOTER FRAUD IS VERY VERY REAL. Cry for our Nation. -

A little nervousness is good, just channel it. It means it matters to you, that you think it's important. God Bless and keep you. You're not in it alone. He's pulling for you, as are a lot of your associates. -
God Bless you and keep you. Hoo-ah! (Hope I spelled that correctly. Some of us speak Hoo-ah with an Air Force accent.) Your signature space says "On Vacation." Some vacation. Perhaps it should say "Gone to War"

Don't know if you all have seen this. Reportedly, it's a part of the Welcome Home for Sergeant Cooley, as he returns from a week at Vanderbilt Hospital.

Going to the Range, what do you shoot first?
QuietDan replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I start from a cold response to a threat stance with my concealed carry weapon drawn from its concealed carry holster with its self defense ammunition; just as if I were at an ATM in a dark parking lot at 11 p.m. When the serious $#!+ is done, I have FUN with the concealed carry, then the .45 nightstand gun. Then, if time allows, one of the rifles, or two, till all the Zombies are brain-dead. -
This is a very reasonable price for the quality of the range, and Charlie is a gentleman. If this is the price to maintain access to the resource, so be it. Too low a price and it's not worth their while and then the range would go away.
