  1. This is going to take all the Grammy Award preparations and toss them in a cocked hat. They'll have to work up a Whitney Houston tribute on the fly. Ms Houston has had a major impact on a lot of the current artists.
  2. I'm thinking we're reading it pretty similar . . . I'm also thinking that . . . don't know the exact technical term and it probably varies from state to state . . . there's a "what would a reasonable person caught in the heat of the moment do" standard that gets applied to cut down on the DA's monday morning quarterbacking. I imagine the victim's lawyer would help assist his client in shaping his statements to encourage the DA to see things that way. I also imagine the cops would need a lot less encouragement -- along the lines of "So Mr Victim, if I understand you correctly, you were in FEAR OF YOUR LIFE when you shot Mr Perpetrator?? . . . " . . . and Mr Victim says, "Yes, exactly Officer, I was in FEAR OF MY LIFE when I shot Mr Perpetrator . . . "
  3. Well, jeez, I spent a little time in Iraq, and went out on the convoys on a mission from time to time. We all went with hot weapons of course. Because of the way the Army runs things, I got to sit in the right rear seat of the humvees and the troops were deferential. Nevertheless, when we got back to the International Zone and pulled up to the weapons clearing barrels, I would turn to the much more experienced Sergeants and ask to be supervised as I cleared my weapon, "as I don't do this all that often and I don't want a negligent discharge." I never got turned down and frankly the Soldiers were glad I asked. Insert your favorite FGO lobotomy joke here. If the 'perfesser' above at the Practical Pistol matches is kinda waving his weapon around and popping it off, perhaps he needs to be adopted and get a little supervision.
  4. Nope. The words in the story. The police dodged the issue of the beat down applied to the perpetrator by the victim and didn't diss on the victim's use of force. They said it would be a part of the investigation and made no on the spot judgement or characterization of it.
  5. Thank you very much I'll surely take it Sir -- but I'm not trying to troll for bonus points on TGO. I'm sure you know that I mean Plus 1'ing the comments that follow the story on the WSMV website, or wherever the story is originally posted.
  6. The homeowner wasn't charged at the scene, that's a good sign. It's weasel words to say that the homeowner's use of force will be a part of the investigation. Deep down inside, I imagine the cops are cheering. A grand jury would probably 'no bill' this. Two more useless thugs off the street -- for now. Probably would have been better if they were approaching air temperature. I know we're all supposed to be champions of life and of following the rules closely, but for gosh sakes so many of us have been victimized by criminals that a lot of us just want to jump up and down with joy when the victims fight back, even if they don't always follow all the rules. Bloodthirsty of me, I know, I should be ashamed of myself but I'm not.
  7. I love stories like this, and I love the comments that come afterwards. I try to Plus 1 the positive comments and Minus 1 the negative comments. The Plus 1's to into a big ol' database in the sky and the media outlet uses the numbers to decide what to cover next time. More Plus 1's, more homeowner versus the burglar stories get covered.
  8. White Chocolate Mocha Cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso. And whipped cream on top with chocolate syrup ribbons. And a blueberry muffin.
  9. TGO David, Is it possible that you like messing with the software more than you like guns??? Thank goodness someone likes to do it and is good at it, or we wouldn't all have a place to hang out!!
  10. For all those folks who swear up and down that voter fraud just doesn't happen, read it and weep: Troy [New York] ballot fraud witness says he was offered job by Democratic Party operative http://wnyt.com/article/stories/S2490281.shtml?cat=300 We have low income public housing in Tennessee; who's to say that the resident's absentee ballots aren't stolen too? Who has bothered to check?
  11. Oooh-Rah! I was getting withdrawal shakes working through the 'forgotten password' drill, but I'm here with admin help from TGO David. Please don't give me more meds. . . I'll be fine, I'll be fine. I just need to sit here for a little while . . .
  12. Morning breakfast: Use small wok to fry bacon, two eggs over easy in the bacon grease. One perfect crispy egg disk with two yolks. Tabasco on the eggs. mmmm baaaacon!
  13. Yeah, that's just exactly what I meant. I'll fix it in the original post.
  14. 62 Grain penetrators -- save it for a rainy day. Or for Zombies. Green tip and all. When the rioters Zombies are burning down houses at the other end of the subdivision, this stuff will help keep the rioters Zombies 100 yards away. You never know when the Zombies will appear, but I'm expecting them well before November.
  15. Having an HCP and committing to carry might mean your car-kit ought to include a change of underwear . . . kudoes to the good-guy for taking action regardless of his hit-to-miss ratio.
  16. When you need that feature, you REALLY need that feature. The things we don't have to face on the domestic front. Yet.
  17. Good crowd at this gun show, good selection of vendors. Seemed more up-beat and positive than previous Murfreesboro shows. Got a thousand rounds of primed Lake City .223 brass and a thousand 55 grain bullets for $150, and 8 lbs of CFE 223 / WC-842 milsurp powder for $89. I'm happy. Also saw my good friends from Specialty Arms II in La Vergne, doing a land-office business at their "smoke" sale. The gun show circuit is one of their main venues as they rebuild their arson-damaged store. (5K reward for info on suspect(s).) White tags were steeply discounted smokey product, yellow tags were new product ordered in after the fire. They had a sweet Walnut Stocked Springfield Armory Scout M1A for a below-cost price; alas, I had no kitchen pass for the purchase.
  18. Oh no, I have not missed the point. I understand it quite well. A couple of items to read: Nancy Pelosi’s Bishop Admonishers Her on Abortion, Eleanor Clift Strikes Back | LifeNews.com Writings and Statements - Archbishop's Journal - Free Will, Conscience and Moral Choice: What Catholics believe and others. Nancy Pelosi has been effectively excommunicated by Archbishop Niederauer. She's just not bright enough to figure that out yet. If she persists, she will receive further rebukes. If she were to go to Archbishop Niederauer or one of his Archdiocesan priests, the odds are quite high that she would be denied Communion. She may dodge the issue by going to a Mass offered by an Order priest, or a priest in another Diocese that does not particularly know her. If she continues to push the issue, the Archbishop would push back, gently but firmly, like a parent talking to a willful three-year old child. I doubt that Archbishop Niederauer would ever sit in his Chair in his Cathedral, in front of a battery of television cameras, and read from a parchment document with wax seals, and declare in a thundering voice that "Nancy Pelosi is hereby excommunicated due to the error of her ways regarding the promotion of the Grave Sin, Abortion." ?? It just won't happen. Archbishops just do not operate in this fashion. The pressure is firmer and less public and more enduring. I would say that Nancy Pelosi in her home district and Archdiocese has already been effectively excommunicated, just without the show that many of us would like to see. If you're waiting for the high drama public excommunication show, you might be waiting for a very long time. Nancy Pelosi, in addition to being crazy and dangerous, is a laughing stock.
  19. The Seven Samurai . . .
  20. Ultimately, you excommunicate YOURSELF. You know what the rules are, you break 'em, you're excommunicated, whether the Bishop in a Diocese calls you on it or not.
  21. That'll leave a mark! . . . and a brown streak in your pants. . . .
  22. Welcome from Smyrna!
  23. Welcome to Tennessee! Welcome from Smyrna!
  24. Thank you to all for their suggestions and intel. I'll be thinking, planning and saving in the meantime.
  25. Agreed. I used my smartphone to find the store phone number, called the front desk from inside the store, and had them send someone back to sporting goods with the key.
