SERE-C in a few months, wish me luck
QuietDan replied to 98SS1LWEE's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Do exactly what the instructors tell you to do and take it to heart. They've conducted the course multiple times, you attend only once. If there is a pre-course package of instruction, read it cover to cover and follow it implicitly. -
Don't think this is how the "stand your ground law" works
QuietDan replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I've read a report that an extended 911 recording demonstrates that Zimmerman did in fact back off after the dispatcher said "you don't need to do that" . . . . all of which will be presented to the Grand Jury, which may call for an indictment or not. There is a process for dealing with all this information, much of which conflicts with itself. This is what happens when protests and race-mongers front load the process. -
Pulled over in Memphis with ar 15 and glock?
QuietDan replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Looks like the Field Training Officer was whipping open the passenger door and grabbing the gun while showing off for his following-the-book Rookie having a civilized transaction with the driver. Sounds like Memphis needs to retire some officers, or get them proper training, or keep them far away from the Rookies. -
If you have an umbrella, chances are it won't rain. I need my HCP so that I do not need it. And, the longer I don't need it, the more I need it.

This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. According to his Daddy, he was just down the road at a convenience store getting an iced tea and some Skittles on the way back to Daddy's girlfriend's home. So he's late coming back because he's dead, and Daddy doesn't ask after him? Daddy doesn't know he's dead and in the morgue for three days? Am I getting something wrong here??!! Someone explain this to me. It doesn't pass the smell test. -
We're going to be stuck with this clown as a former president/community activist for the next 30 years. He'll be fomenting hatred 'till the day that he dies.

I'm pretty sure this is not a true statement, and I imagine that LEOs that post here could back it up. We're talking about a fit, football playing, 6 foot plus male reportedly sitting on the chest of a man who's down, pounding on his face. If it were me, I would be afraid of significant bodily harm and be in fear of my life and I would shoot. I can imagine a hulking 6 foot plus boyfriend beating a 100 pound, five foot tall woman with his fists, and if I was on a Grand Jury I would no-bill the woman if she shot him. I can imagine a 6 foot plus teenager beating a frail 70-year-old man with his fists; If I were an officer, I would not arrest the 70 year old if he shot his attacker. Actually, I can think of quite a few scenarios in which using fists would be considered deadly force, or put someone in fear of significant bodily harm, which is the test in many jurisdictions. -
Do you more often change your socks or clean your ankle gun? The two issues might be related . . .

Voldemort was there with the polymer AR-15 lowers. Far side of the hall near the beef jerky folks. Kinda quiet at his table. Probably because there were no off duty cops shopping at his spot. -

I've got a kitchen pass to go on Saturday, spouse is doing a little homework for the big push at her work next week. I'll be looking for maybe 500 9mm 115 gr FMJ bullets and 500 .45 230 gr FMJ bullets for reloading, maybe more if I get a good price. I guess we're all getting like locusts stripping the leaves off the trees! -

The hoodie is such a wonderful burglary tool and robbery fashion accessory. Put the pistol and the loot in the big pockets. Wear a hoodie over your dropped pants and there's plenty of room for a pistol or other weapons, or shoplifted loot. Pull the hood up and hide your face from your victims and from the security cameras. Wear the same color and style and team logo as your thuggish friends and it's cheap gang colors. "Everyone wears them," so it makes you anonymous and hard to follow. Wear a black one with black clothes and disappear in the darkness. The ultimate urban camouflage. Walk around in a neighborhood not your own late at night in a dark hoodie and dark clothes with your thug buddies and it's essentially probable cause for the police to ask you what you're up to. You might as well wear a sign on your back that says "I am a bad-ass, don't mess with me or I'll kick your ass. You SHOULD be frightened of me. I'm intimidating you on purpose. And, by the way, I am up to no good. " Of course, it's JUST a hoodie -- it's fashionable. All the kids wear them. Nothing to see here, move along, move along. Don't talk about hoods being stereotyped and about how innocent they are. Try wearing a White Hood in public and see what type of reaction you get. -

Let's flip this in the terms you describe. In this case, You (We) are not a police officer, a police investigator, a medical examiner, a coroner, a district attorney, a judge, a jury, nor an executioner. You (We) are merely the (self-appointed) court of public opinion, and in some cases the howling MOB. Should we get a rope? Baseball bats? Torches and pitchforks? Molotov cocktails? Should we solve this case now, in the street? Be very ashamed for Yourself (Us). Weep for the country, that we can rush to these judgements, bereft of facts, bereft of due process. An arrest, an indictment, depositions, a court trial, all in turn, as necessary, is the only way to know what actually happened. That's the end result of a trial. Until a trial, if it comes to that, no one person knows the facts. The facts must be separated from suppostion, and then the facts are collected. This happens in a trial, and no one knows the totality of the facts until a trial. Right now, we haven't even gotten as far as an arrest. We have a long way to go. The overt public reaction shows that as a Nation, we have even farther to go. -

Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin By Kyle Rogers, Charleston Conservative Examiner Last weekend in the city of Chicago alone, gangbangers slaughtered ten people and wounded another forty. The youngest fatality is only six years old. The youngest person wounded is only one-year-old. Many of the victim were pedestrians sprayed with bullets in drive by shootings. The national news has said nothing about this. So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news? Why has there been thousands of articles a day, for the last four days, about one single shooting? Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include that he was a towering 6'2†football player. Is the media really reporting the news, or is this classic agitation/propaganda to advance a political agenda. Literally thousands of articles contain at least one false statement in the first couple of lines. They usually read "George ZImmerman, a white man," or "shoot by a white man." Zimmerman is described by family as a multiracial Hispanic. His appearance is clearly that of a Latino/Mestizo individual. However, the media wants him to be white because that better fits the political narrative they are trying to artificially create. Many news articles have also claimed the neighborhood is "mostly white." This is also a lie. The neighborhood is only 49% white. It is over half non-white. All the way back on February 27th, the local Orlando Fox station interviewed the witness who dialed 911. Almost none of the thousands of articles since have mentioned any of the details described by the witness. Some, however, have attributed false statements to this witness. On March 16th, the Sanford police department released new details to the Orlando Sentinel. Once again, these details have been ignored or changed by the media. The witness reports that George Zimmerman was on the ground and Trayvon is on top of him punching him. The witness says that George Zimmerman was screaming and yelling for help. Police arrive and find Zimmerman bleeding on his face and the back of his head. He also has had grass stains on his back. All this confirms the story told by Zimmerman and the witness. Police play the 911 tape for Trayvon Martin's father, who tells police that the voice screaming is not the voice of his son. The neighborhood this took place in has seen a lot of crime. Would you be surprised to learn that there were eight burglaries, nine thefts, and a shooting just in the past year? In fact, the local homeowners' association reports that George Zimmerman actually caught one thief and aided in the apprehension of other criminals. The Miami Herald wrote about this on March 17th. None of the thousands of articles and cable news segments that came after, thought this was important. In fact the Miami Herald goes on to interview neighbor, Ibrahim Rashada, who is black. Rashada confirms that there has been a lot of crime in the neighborhood and indicates to the reporter that the perpetrators are usually black. The media also characterizes Trayvon as a "model student." In fact, he under a five day suspension when the shooting took place. That is why he was staying at a house so far from his school on a school night. A laywer for Trayvon's family has blocked access to his school records. However, you have to do something pretty bad to get suspended for five days. Now that you know the suppressed facts of the case, you can for form a better more balanced opinion. Maybe you still think Zimmerman was wrong to pull the trigger. However, I think you will come to the conclusion that the "mainstream" clearly is pushing an agenda. Even when they have to grossly alter and adjust a story to fit that agenda. Thank you very much for the police report. That is exactly what is needed in this case, facts. I'm waiting for the investigators report, as referenced in the initial police report. And then the Grand Jury's determination. And then, if warranted, a trial, with sworn testimony. And then a jury decision. That's how things are done. There is a process for these matters, and the process ought to be followed, without the media lynch mob baying on television and in the newspapers. All the usual suspects are working hard to politicize this, and drag in crap that has nothing to do with the confrontation between these two individuals. Once upon a time, I was confident that "justice would prevail." Under the current administration, with an admittedly biased "Attorney General" Eric Holder, I am much less confident that justice will prevail. -

There's an empty Kroger building on Lowrey St (Murfreesboro Road) in Smyrna that would be perfect for a gun show if the owners would see the light. Don't know how to move something like this forward. . . . -

Sounds like he might have an expanded vision of the ground he was 'standing your ground' on. Aggressive neighborhood watch in a gated community of 250 homes. Did he consider the entire gated community 'his ground'? I'm thinking he's not a choir boy, and neither is his victim. However, I also absolutely detest the authorities coming back after him because of political pressure. Arrests, charges, indictments, convictions must be fact based and worked through a court of law, NOT the court of public opinion backed up with race-tinged mobs. This poor sucker is probably going to get some sort of Eric Holder 'Justice" Department federal civil rights charge, in a racially-charged, media-fueled circus. -
My carry weapon, a Springfield Armory EMP, is named Sting, after the small, beautiful, deadly, elvish-made sword that Bilbo gave Frodo in the Lord of the Rings. I imagine it too gleams with blue light when orcs are near . . . The rest of my weapons have not yet revealed their names to me.

They say, don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Don't bring a gun to a video shoot. More powerful weapon. You'll lose every time. This video will play at his trial, he'll get convicted and receive maximum time.

New to the Forum, any friendlies out there?
QuietDan replied to 98SS1LWEE's topic in New Member Introductions
Welcome to TGO! Welcome from Smyrna! Welcome back from overseas. You asked if there are any friendlies out here. YES. A lot of them. Also a few dirtbags, but not as many as overseas, thankfully. Don't know if you're in the mindset for this, but you might want to get a "country brief" now that you're back, so you know "the level of the threat" which is CONSIDERABLY LESS. I joined my town's Citizen's Police Academy, meets for 12 weeks for three hours on a Thursday night, so that I can see for myself who has the watch and what level of threat we face in our town. It's kind of like getting debriefed and briefed. I've met a few new friends there as well. I don't know how vigilant you remain, but this for me was part of "coming home" and helped me relax considerably. God Bless you and your family.
