  1.   Yup.    I recuse myself from the bangability calculations.    I continue to defend her excellence as a compassionate, sweet and caring woman.   I continue to defend her songwriting primacy.   I'll yield on her singing qualities, which she continues to develop and which She Herself calls a mere vehicle to express her songwriting. For example, Bob Dylan's singing flat out sucks and he'd admit it, but his songwriting & storytelling capabilities are World-renowned.   I'll yield on her Country identity. She is capable of excellence in Country music, but she is also a great Pop writer and performer, and a world class show-woman. Her concerts are masterpieces, none better. Reportedly, she would also kick your ass and all comers in a karaoke showdown.   I think of Taylor Swift as more of a . . . National Daughter or something. I don't have my own daughter, and if I did, I'd want her to be just like Taylor, smart, creative, beautiful . . . that being said, I would willingly take up a bodyguard role for Taylor Swift, Princess of Nashville. Consider me a sworn Swiftian Knight.   To repeat:   If I was about 30 years younger and single, I'd gladly sit her on my knee and feed her strawberries and cream out of a big bowl with a small spoon.   I don't think there's anything wrong with her figure that a (matrimonially induced) three-month pregnancy bump and the onset of milk production wouldn't improve . . .   Surely there's some rich, smart, handsome 30-something guy out there that'll fix that for her in the next five years . . . and commit his life to her happiness and continued success.
  2.   Sounds cheaper than psychotropic drugs.
  3. Here is Taylor Swift in the one and only live performance of "Ronan" written about a four year old boy who died of cancer to the everlasting grief of his mother.   She performed the song live once, and by all reports burst into tears backstage after her performance and essentially fled the telethon venue.   Taylor assigned co-writer credit and royalties to the mother as the song was derived from the mother's blog about her son, and Taylor assigned her portion of royalties to pediatric cancer research.    Since an early age, Ms Swift has given freely of her time in Children's Hospitals, especially in Pediatric Oncology wards, and especially at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. She doesn't come for a half hour and dash from room to room, she commits to an hour and often stays for four or five hours, sitting bedside with desperately ill children, talking with them, sharing, playing a song or two, talking about boys and schools and future plans.   She has donated MILLIONS to various charities, all very google-able.    Not every song she writes is about boys who've done her wrong. They just happen to be some of her more popular songs and you hear them more often.   Regardless, she is a preternaturally gifted songwriter.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvN7BOAQn9I

  5.   The Battle of Gonzales was the opening act of the Texas Revolution. Some refer to it as the "Lexington of Texas."   The town had a cannon that the Mexicans wanted, and they said, "Come and Take it." Just like the Greeks with Molon Labe.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gonzales
  6.   Oh, perhaps with others, given the opportunity . . . I think of her more as a . . . National Daughter or something. Don't have my own daughter, and if I did, I'd want her to be just like Taylor, smart, creative, beautiful . . . I've met her in person, it was a lucky situation, and had a fifteen minute or so conversation with her. She is the real deal, and just as sweet and compassionate in person as she appears to be on stage and in interviews. Just about the finest young woman a good culture, a pair of smart parents and a lot of hard work would create. Some young man is going to be very lucky someday.
  7. Oh Boy!   A rare opportunity to combine two of my favorite topics: The Second Amendment, and Taylor Swift, Princess of Nashville.   Taylor Swift in NYC's Central Park being interviewed by a reporter for Rolling Stone magazine. The reporter is wearing a camo hat with the Gonzales "Come and Take It" Flag.   http://tswiftdaily.com/image/92751820171   [edit] And here's a better picture, where the Gonzales "Come and Take It" Flag is not obscured . . .   http://tswiftdaily.com/image/92795543881     Of course, Taylor's midriff-baring camo-shaded skirt and top are worth a look as well . . .
  8. Share this with your machinist friends. My cousin is a machinist, and he's been tracking this hard.
  9.   I could understand where you were coming from if what Obama is doing was actually what he professes it to be. He's actually just banning products from one set of oligarchs who are not his boon buddies. Said oligarchs will sell their inventory to other oligarchs who ARE boon buddies of Obama, who will change the name of the company, and proceed as before. Expect a price rise and a burp in supply and carry on.
  10. Things that make you go . . . hmmmmm . . .   . . . an update . . . .   Restaurant owner says 'business exploded' since welcoming guns   Published July 22, 2014   MARYVILLE, Tenn. –  A Tennessee restaurant owner has placed a sign in the window of her business welcoming gun owners -- a move she says has brought in more customers and saved her business from closing.   Shiloh Brew and Chew owner Sharma Floyd says put up the sign after seeing a news account of a business being robbed after posting a sign saying guns were not allowed in the building.   The Maryville restaurant owner opted to go in the opposite direction. Floyd told WVLT-TV in Knoxville that "business exploded" and the response from customers was overwhelmingly positive.   Floyd says she doesn't want her sign to be a challenge to anyone. She's simply standing up for what she believes in.   http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/07/22/restaurant-owner-says-business-exploded-since-welcoming-guns/?intcmp=latestnews
  11. Things that make you go . . . hmmmmmm . . . . ‘Guns Are Welcome’: One Restaurant Bucked a Trend — Here’s What Happened Next Jul. 19, 2014 11:23am Zach Noble As many restaurants, including Starbucks, Sonic and Chili’s, tell customers to leave their guns at home, one restaurant in East Tennessee took a different approach — and gained quite a few customers. Sharma Floyd, owner of Shiloh Brew and Chew, adopted a gun-friendly policy after she read about other restaurants banning firearms, WBIR-TV reported. “[The other restaurant] had put up a sign that said ‘No Weapons Allowed’ and they were robbed at gunpoint two days later,” Floyd recounted. “That got me thinking.” She posted a “Guns are Welcome” sign on the front door of her establishment about a month ago, and since then, she says business has really picked up. Image source: screengrab via WBIR-TV “I can honestly say I’ve gotten way more support than the one person who really gave me a lot of grief over it,” said Floyd. ”I have had so many customers take pictures of the sign, ask to meet me in person, and thank me.” Floyd says she keeps some safety precautions in mind — for instance, she won’t serve beer to customers who are carrying firearms — and so far the policy seems to be doing nothing but good things for her business. “There have been as many as eight people in here at one time who I know for a fact had guns,” Floyd said. “And no one would have known it except I know them personally. They’re law abiding, god fearing, Christian people. And that’s what I stand on. That’s what my restaurant is based on. ” http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/07/19/guns-are-welcome-one-restaurant-bucks-a-trend-and-sees-dramatic-results/
  12.   Elves. Naked female elves. Hmmmmmmm.   Well, if not naked, filmy, flowing gowns . . .
  13. Definitely think they ought to go back to the M 1911. Armies need good weapons, but the weapons must also be produceable in volume and sustainable over time. The weapon itself is merely the tip of the spear, the "logistics tail" is doubly important. There is a lot of native infrastructure for the M 1911, and years and years of working the bugs and kinks out of the weapon. It is also highly produceable, produceable by probably hundreds of companies. The weapon is also sustainable, there are thousands of companies that can produce accessories and parts, especially spare parts as required. There are also tens of thousands of people who can repair and maintain the weapons as well. Additionally, the initial patents are expired, which keeps the costs down.

The muslims hate us, the U.S.   The muslims hate the Jews more than they hate the U.S.   The muslims hate each other, sunni and shia, more than they hate the Jews, and more than they hate the U.S.   The sunni and shia, and their uber-radical elements, will expend a lot of energy, blood and treasure killing each other before they consolidate their gains and losses in Iraq.   All hail the caliphate of the hill of broken rubble, all hail the caliphate of the pyramid of skulls.

  23. Hand over the DL and the HCP at the same time. The officer might not have even walked back to the car with it to run it. You could have saved yourself some time.   With all the shiiteheads out there, a good citizen who can maintain an HCP with no record is the least of an LEO's worries.   IMO.
  24. In Tennessee, your driver's license number and your Handgun Carry Permit number are one and the same. Take a look for yourself. As soon as they run your driver's license, they know whether or not you have a Handgun Carry Permit. It's just that easy.
  25. I'd like to see a law that says, if you don't want your customers and your employees to have guns in your store, then you must pay for and provide armed security. Put the liability on the other foot, see how fast they come around.
