  1. I have a very bad feeling about this . . .   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBknAcTaMiI
  2.   Martin/Zimmerman thread went way over 1000 posts; how much is that in pages?
  3.   That could be a problem with all the window glass on the square. The various business owners might want to have an HCP holder in their buildings that evening just in case. If you bring an umbrella to work, it doesn't rain. . . .
  4. I'm the one sitting on my front porch with my AR and the 1911 and a good field of fire. My twenty-three year old son is on the roof of the second story part of the house with the M1A, and his 1911, and has roped up a can of ammo with some for each. I'm talking on the little FRS radio net to my armed neighbors. Ones got my .223 single shot, and another has my .308 single shot, but there are enough weapons to go around. My spouse is in the house with her 9mm on her hip. The two oldest cars in the neighborhood are already blocking the street at each end, and the four duty rostered guards are there, checking for local zipcode driver's licenses with their ARs on single point slings. The spouses are all making sandwiches and call in the report every half hour to the non-emergency police number. We keep the Police duty sergeant aware of conditions. The County Sheriff has already called up two neighbors who are reserve deputies. Isn't this what everybody does?
  5. If the OP doesn't update us, it might be because he didn't run when we told him too and now it's too late. The GF or FBBFoGF might have whacked him already. Should we call the Popo for a "health and welfare" update?
  6.     The best part of all this for Missourians the actual Amendment 5 as passed by voters:   ". . .  the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person, family and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned. The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. The state of Missouri shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement.”    [emphasis added]   The "Property" portion is interesting. They have it in Texas, where you can shoot a thief in the night.
  7. I see a victim who walked into traffic -- he was very much alive when his car came to a halt.
  8. Assault and battery is assault and battery, regardless of the missile used.
  9. How unfortunate that there is no video of this priceless moment!
  10. Run them till they're out of gas at the end of the season.   Ensure you've got fresh gas at the beginning of the season.   I also use "Stabil" gas additive in my 5 gallon gas can.   Mine  won't start unless I start the whole sequence by pumping the carb's rubber gas bulb ten times. There's a little pictogram on my trimmer calling out the process with the pulls and the choke.
  11. They ought to watch out, lobbing stuff at others, someone's liable to lob a .45 caliber egg back at them . . . .
  12.   Also leprosy . . .
  13.   Do tell: Who and how did they do that???
  14.   Yeah! Thanks for the word. I'm getting a 404 File Not Found on the old link.
  15.   By the time the adversary is on your doorstep, it is TOO LATE.
  16. This is a stupid cyclical "pay me now or pay me later" move. We downsize the military, the adversaries see an opportunity, chaos ensues, the troops in reserve are recalled to active duty at great expense under desperate circumstances. All becomes a crisis and we throw money at it to fix it.   I know this personally, having been downsized in the great Cold War Drawdown in 1992. By 2001, I was recalled to active duty and given a regular commission to deal with the post-9/11 crisis.    The cycle begins again. It is sooooo stupid and wasteful.
  17.   The Court of Law has its decisions and its punishments.   The Court of Public Opinion has its decisions and its punishments.   Sometimes the decisions and punishments between these two spheres overlap, and sometimes they don't.   OJ was judged Not Guilty of murder in a Court of Law; he was found Guilty of Murder in the Court of Public Opinion. It happens.
  18. I am looking for a craftsman who can do decorative stock carving.   I purchased a Ruger 10/22 CRR for my wife, and shortly thereafter the stock near the handgrip picked up a non-cosmetic divot. I purchased another stock from Ruger, but now I have a perfectly functional stock with a divot in it.   I know that a lot of decorative leatherwork is done to hide the blemishes in leather, and I would like to do the same with this stock.   I'm thinking she's really into observing birds, and as she is petite (4ft 10in), and really appreciates hummingbirds, that I would love to have the stock decoratively carved with hummingbirds or some such, hiding the blemish in the stock and making it a pretty thing.   Who can point me towards a craftsman, preferably a Tennessean, who could do such work? Pictures of stock carving would be appreciated.
  19. Jesse's $1.8 million "win" is a Phyrric Victory in the court of public opinion. The money is just so much dry grass in his mouth. The optics of the case damage him more than if he had won a dollar and had bought the widow a cup of coffee with it. He has personally done more than $1.8 million in damage to himself by pursuing this case beyond his adversary's grave.
  20.   It's not the dollars, it's the contact time. More contact time, more being willing to get on your knees and down to their size, the more better. IMO.
  21. I have a cousin who is capable of performing such science/technology/magic. I think he could come up with an equivalent Dr Who T.A.R.D.I.S.
  22.   It's a shame it's not at least an iPhone picture of some cute chick. Emily Miller perhaps. She deserves it for all of her work.
  23.   The judge granted the plaintiffs their requested injunction. That means that the DC law can no longer be enforced, effective immediately. Anyone in DC with a permit for a handgun in their home can now carry it for their self defense wherever they go. I think the injunction also allows any other person otherwise permitted but not a DC resident to do so as well. It is up to DC government to put new laws on the books that tighten it up that pass legal muster with the very judge that granted the injunction. There was no request for a stay, and the plain language of the judgement suggests that a stay would not be granted.    More lawyerly types than me can read the judgement and correct me if I'm wrong . . .
