Some initial reports that the 20 year old alleged perpetrator is autistic, Asperger's Syndrome and/or OCD personality disorder, and that the guns he used belong to his mother. At 20, don't think he has legal access to pistols, used in the attack. How did he get them from his mother? Surely his mother was aware of his medical conditions. There are already guns laws on the books that limit guns from 20 year olds with mental issues.
-
A gun in the hand of the perpetrator started this massacre, and a gun in the hand of the perpetrator ended this massacre. There were guns in the hands of the various police officers that responded to the scene who were prepared to end this massacre. There were (probably) no guns in the hands of the principal or any of the teachers of the school. In every case, the guns themselves took no independent action. The guns are merely tools. We could be talking about another type of tool: a bomb, a sword, a knife, or a shovel.

Emotions are always a little high after reports such as these. "Settle down Francis" probably should apply to all. I am going to closely follow the angle in the story about the reported 24-year old son (or potentially the 20-year old son) perpetrator killing his teacher mother and members of her class. Was he under medical treatment? What was the nature of his injuries? Who was his doctor and what treatment was he receiving? Was he under mental health treatment? What was the nature of his mental health? Was he taking medications or did he stop taking medications? Who was his doctor and what treatment was he receiving? What was the relationship with his mother such that he killed her? Was the mother socially or politically active? What was the relationship with his father, and is his father dead, and under what circumstances? Was the father socially or politically active? What was the relationship with his brother, and is his brother dead, and under what circumstances? Was his brother socially or politically active? Was his brother military, a college graduate, employed, have a girl-friend, have a wife? Was he still living at home? Had he always been living at home? Was he politically active? Was he in the military and if so, was he still in the military? If he was in the military and is not now, under what circumstances did he leave the military? Did he go to college? Did he graduate, and if he did, what was he studying? Did he have a job? Did he lose his job and under what circumstances? Did he have a girlfriend? Did they break up and under what circumstances? Was he married? If married, did the marriage last or end, and if it ended, under what circumstances? We need to know the answers to these questions, and if the media does not supply the answers to these basic questions, then something is up, that is, the answers don't match the media's chosen political narrative. I actually expect this.

The reports on the facts and the numbers and ages and relationships of the dead will not settle down and stabilize for a day or two. It is always been like that. "The first reports from the field are always inaccurate."

carry on property owned by a university
QuietDan replied to me04070's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Don't ask the question if you can't stand the answer. It may be the law, but it's nearly unenforceable. As others have said, it's really stupid to have laws on the books that are not or cannot be enforced. It leads to enforcing the law on people or groups of people you don't like and that's tyranny. -
Yeah, that'll stop 'em. . . . /sarc

This is often part of some regional or national game and teenagers are doing it in a lot of places, having learned about it from the dark underside of the internet. It's a dangerous game, and it IS trespassing. The local police would be interested in occurances, and depending on the jurisdiction, crack down on the perpetrators. Often, this kind of stupidity escalates into more serious business, like breaking and entering. If they're kicking doors, and the door kicks open, don't tell me that they wouldn't go inside and steal. Serious business. Shoot a trespasser serious.

carry on property owned by a university
QuietDan replied to me04070's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You can be sure the university carry prohibitions do not concern, in any way, any criminal who is intent on murder, robbery or rape; and therefore, you should conduct yourself accordingly. You can be sure the university carry prohibitions primarily concern, in many ways, the university administrators, lawyers and legislators who concocted this ludicrous tangle of laws, and therefore, you should conduct yourself accordingly. The question then becomes, who are you more concerned about? Who can do more damage to you? Criminals? School Administrators? Lawyers? Legislators? (Is there a difference among them?) Who do you hold in lower contempt? And therefore, you should conduct yourself accordingly. There is one provision in this ludicrous tangle of laws that works in your interests, and smarter persons here can quote it chapter and verse; that if you use your weapon to protect your life or the lives of those around you, you will not be prosecuted for carrying your weapon where you ought not to have carried it. And therefore, you should conduct yourself accordingly. -

A Short Tweet exchange between Pierce Morgan and Carol Roth
QuietDan replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Muskets were the "high tech weapon standard" of the time. M-16s are the "high tech standard" of this time. I really don't understand Piers Morgan's stupidity on this, unless it's a willful stupidity he puts on to influence his stupid viewers. Actually, I do understand, and that's what the problem is. The man could only be this stupid and misinformed on purpose. -
I've gone through all of this too. We bought a sig238 and she decided she didn't like it. We went back to several gun stores and she ended up with a Glock 19. I don't know what it is about the Glocks but a lot of women that I've taught to shoot really like the ergonomics of them. Just my 2¢.
Still got the Sig?
And all those state college and university court case defenses, and payment of the decisions, from the pockets of the taxpayer. Think this through, please.
Good point! And then, they'd be forced to take the path of least resistance, and the cheapest path. The People wouldn't stand for the "ethical-in-the-academics-mind" no-guns-on-campus stance if it's going to cost them MONEY. The People just wouldn't stand for it.

Burglary suspect, held at gunpoint, calls 911
QuietDan posted a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Burglary suspect, held at gunpoint, calls 911 By Domingo Ramirez Jr. and Bill Miller A Parker County woman called 911 early Tuesday, saying that her husband was outside, holding a burglar at gunpoint. "Hurry up now, because my husband's fixing to shoot him," the woman said after giving directions to their house near Springtown. The man with the gun pointed at him had the same idea. He, too, called 911. "He's going to shoot me," he told the operator. The dual 911 calls were made about 12:30 a.m. from the house in the 100 block of Lelon Lane, a spokeswoman for the Parker County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday. When deputies and Springtown police arrived, they found a man, identified only as a 38-year-old resident of the house, holding a gun on a man in a pickup. The resident told officers that he and his wife had awakened earlier to find an intruder wearing dark clothing and a hooded jacket standing in their bedroom. When the resident asked what the intruder was doing, he answered, "Just unlucky, I guess," the officers reported. The intruder ran from the house and got into his pickup, followed by the armed resident, who ordered the man to drop his keys, which he did. The first 911 call came from the wife, Parker County sheriff's Deputy Danie Huffman said Wednesday. The next one came from the man in the pickup. The operator asked his name, and he responded, "Philip Tanner." "Why have they threatened to shoot you?" the operator asked. "Because I'm on his property," he said. "Were you trying to break into his house?" "No." "What were you doing?" "I was ... I was walking." "Do you live out there?" "No." "OK, I'm going to stay on the phone with you until we get a deputy there. He's not that far off, OK?" "Are you sure?" "Yes. I'm sure. Just don't move. Tell the gentleman you're on the phone with 911 and I know what's going on and we have a deputy coming. OK?" "He's going to shoot me." "No, he's not going to shoot you. Just don't move. Just don't move." She stayed on the line and kept the man talking. And in a few minutes, officers arrived just as she had said. They arrested the man in the pickup, identified not as Philip Tanner, but as Christopher Lance Moore, 41, of Bedford. Moore remained in the Parker County Jail in Weatherford Wednesday night with bail set at $35,000. He faces a charge of burglary of a habitation. The armed resident of the house was not arrested. http://www.star-telegram.com/2012/12/05/v-print/4463995/burglary-suspect-held-at-gunpoint.html -
Illinois Anti-Gun Democrat Busted Trying to Bring a Gun Onto an Aircraft By Bryan Preston Illinois Democrat State Sen. Donne Trotter joins a long list of leftists who live by a simple rule: Guns for me, but not for thee.
Despite prosecutors charging him for allegedly trying to bring a gun onto an aircraft at O’Hare Airport, the South Side Democrat once voted against allowing Illinoisans to carry concealed weapons. Trotter later voted “present†on another measure that would have softened the penalty for getting caught with a concealed weapon . His arrest brings the number of sitting Illinois lawmakers facing criminal charges to three, which is a high-water mark in recent political memory at the Statehouse. Trotter now joins state Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago), who faces a federal bribery charge, and state Rep. La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago), who was indicted last week on federal bank fraud charges.
Interesting. I see a pattern in those arrests. Do you see it too? The long line of leftists and other hypocrites who use guns to defend themselves while agitating against other people’s right to do the same include NBC’s Bob Costas, crockumentary filmmaker Michael Moore, California Democrat Lori Saldana, actor Sylvester Stallone, and just about every member of the Democrat caucuses in Congress who uses armed security — men with guns.
I would love it if that were possible, but it is not. MTAS and CTAS are well ensconced in policy making in TN, and UT has a strangle hold on the State especially at the current time, (even though I feel their control of our Cities and Counties is a crime under the Official Oppression clause, but then who cares what I or the Constitution say?)
Run the list of University Officials that are HCP holders or who have some sort of police or bodyguard protection and out them for hypocrisy. People love to out hypocrites. And the educators often hate to have their names in the media when it makes them look like fools, which they often are. Hammer them, hammer them, hammer them. They are not your friends and never will be. Students usually don't like them, and if they've put political pressure on legislators, a lot of the legislators won't like the University Officials either. At the very least, you find out who their protectors are, and then target them. It can't be the entire legislature. I'm not saying that wiser heads would not disagree with points such as these, just that options are explored or explained why they're not options. I really don't mind getting shot down with the facts at the disposal of WorriedMan and others. I'm just looking for an "over, around or thru".

If the school parking lots are excluded from the law, make the schools responsible for the safety of those parking there and on their commute to and from the parking lot. Leave the schools open to unlimited liability for death, injury or rape, as well as pain and suffering. Then, tell them to pick: guns in the parking lots, or unlimited liability.

It it's not true, it oughta be.

Ramsey speaking on Parking Lot Bill again
Trying to stay on track with the OP and not get derailed like the other thread did... Just playing out some paranoid scenarios in my head. Taking this amazing change of heart, and combining it with some rumblings about committee realignments (particularly some possible chair realignments), and its not too much of a stretch to this conjecture: this bill (as he's described it) is indeed intro'd, but is predestined to be neutered in various committees on its way to the floor. The altered version manages to gain approval by the supermajority, but is nothing more than a weak resemblance of the bad versions seen in the last GA. Senate and House ldrshp can then hide behind the "we tried and got a pkng lot bill passed" rock, thus avoiding (for the most part) the groundswell of anger that consumed Maggart, The villains in the scenario become the committees...which, in that they are a group of folks, make a much more difficult target for voter anger...so those who oppose the watered legislation basically are left poundig sand. Businesses aren't too upset, cause the passed bill will give them numerous outs. See - politics at its finest! Then again, I may just be a bit paranoid...
Target the committee chairs. Don't let them hide. -
I work for the Nazizone. It's definitely true they have a sort of "zero tolerance" policy. No weapons on premisis including knives. I keep my pistol in my truck if I ever have to use it at work then my job is the least of my concerns. A former coworker was written up for calling in a tag number to the police department. He didn't interfere or interact with the thief at all
That seems to be a very bad, over the top policy that ought to be brought to the attention of the local Chief of Police. Perilously close to obstruction of justice, for an employee to have useful information about a crime and constrained from sharing it with the police. Very bad business.

Veterans with no finance skills may lose gun rights
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this has been in effect for quite sometime. Only now is it coming up as an issue. Obama has nothing to do with this. This is the VA.
Agreed. This is the VA, though the Veterans Administration is an element of the administration and the Secretary of the VA is susceptible to political pressure from the White House. With an over-reaching, often lawless White House, I'm pointing out a "logical" progression. I too would like such medical-status decisions to be adjudicated through the courts, until the leftists capture them as well. This is a demonstration of just how frightened the administration is of veterans with guns, and by extension citizens with guns. Frightened. So, how long before it comes to this?: If you do not worship the God-Emperor Barack Hussein Obama and agree with all elements of his agenda without reservation, then there must be something wrong with your thought processes and therefore we must administratively deprive you of arms.
